Here are my picks.....

I will take it to another level this week and predict the scores. I will also give a brief analysis of the games. We will figure out my picks by the difference in score obviously...

*Arizona 26, Seattle 12
In Week Two, the Cardinals’ Thomas Jones rambled for a career-high 173 yards and a TD to lead Arizona over the Seahawks 24-13. Against the NFL’s weakest rushing defense, the Cards can run and win again.

*Baltimore 19, Cincinnati 13
The only sign of life for the Bengals’ offense is their sporadically functional running game, and it ranks in the league’s bottom third. Cincy did end a six-game Baltimore series win streak in 2001.

*Green Bay 35, Detroit 14
Brett Favre’s 357 passing yards and three TD’s helped the Packers survive a fourth-quarter Lions rally with a 37-31 victory seven weeks ago. This time: same G.B. game plan, not-so-close final score.

*Jacksonville 20, Washington 17
With a defensive line full of holes, the Redskins may look helpless against the Jaguars’ solid ground game. For what it’s worth, Washington is two for two against Jacksonville, with wins in ’97 and ’00.

Miami 22, *N.Y. Jets 10
Ricky Williams rushed for 151 yards and a TD to help the Dolphins end a string of eight straight losses to the Jets, 30-3, in September. Miami will run over N.Y. once more, its first sweep since ’97.

New England 24, *Chicago 16
These teams both started fast and then fell apart, but the Patriots still have an outstanding air game and pass defense, while nothing about the Bears stands out. Chicago beat N.E. 24-17 two years ago.

New Orleans 27, *Carolina 15
Speaking of starting fast and falling apart, how about those Panthers? If Carolina could throw against the Saints’ weak secondary, this might be close, but N.O. will win its fifth in a row in the series.

N.Y. Giants 21, *Minnesota 20
We never feel safe going against the Vikings when they’re at home, but the Giants have more than enough defense to handle them and can throw all day on Minnesota. The Vikings beat N.Y. in ’01, 28-16.

*Philadelphia 26, Indianapolis 19
Look for the Eagles to stay on the ground, where the Colts can’t stop them, while Philly’s pass defense shuts down Indy’s one-dimensional offense. The Colts won their last meeting, three years ago.

*Pittsburgh 23, Atlanta 21
Neither club is setting the league on fire with its stats, but they’re both brimming with confidence. Talk about your one-sided series: Pittsburgh leads this one 11-1, and that 1 happened 32 years ago.

*St. Louis 28, San Diego 21
Last week we learned that the Rams are far from finished and the Chargers’ lame pass defense can’t even stop the likes of the Jets. In ’00, the last time S.D. and St. Louis met, the Rams won big, 57-31.

*San Francisco 32, Kansas City 21
With one of the NFL’s best offenses and one of its worst defenses, the Chiefs so far have proved totally unpredictable. The 49ers, which beat K.C. two years ago, have to stop the Chiefs’ running game.

*Tennessee 14, Houston 9
Houston past meets Houston present. If the Titans hope to stay in contention in the AFC South, they can’t afford a loss here -- to a Texans team that can neutralize their offensive strength, the pass.

*Denver 29, Oakland 16
Fast start, fall apart, take three: the Raiders, whose top-ranked pass offense clearly isn’t enough. Oakland has won only two of its last 14 games against the Broncos, though one of them was last season.

I will e-mail my points to someone or else you will try to cut my options off, as if I'm going to need the points anyway. Also, I MIGHT be changing a few a little later tonight or tomorrow night. I have lots of time to do a little more research....:)

Updated and FINAL selections......

Sunday November 17, 2002

*Atlanta 30, New Orleans 21
We’d just like for these clubs to play as entertaining a game as they did last month, when the Falcons won 37-35 on a last-second, 47-yard field goal by Jay Feely. The Saints don’t have enough defense.

Cleveland 19, *Cincinnati 13
The Browns intercepted three Gus Frerotte passes and sacked him five times in their 20-7 win over the Bengals in Week Two. This looks closer: Cleveland can pass, but Cincinnati has a solid secondary.

Denver 28, *Seattle 14
Here’s a former divisional rival the Broncos will miss, having won 10 of their last 12 against the Seahawks. Seattle beat them last year at home, 34-21, but Denver is better at every phase of the game.

*Detroit 16, N.Y. Jets 13
The Jets are hanging tough, but the Lions’ run defense is the only category in which either team rises above also-ran. Still, they may just play the game of the week. Or not. Detroit won last, in 2000.

Green Bay 24, *Minnesota 17
If the Packers hope to get past the Vikings -- whom they’ll face again in three weeks -- their defensive line needs to tighten up significantly, because Minnesota is capable of opening big holes in it.

*Indianapolis 27, Dallas 20
More offense than you might expect, with the Colts and Cowboys gaining chunks of yards through the air and on the ground, respectively. In their most recent meeting, in ’99, the Colts were 34-24 winners.

Jacksonville 20, *Houston 19
Three weeks ago, Kris Brown’s late 45-yard field goal gave the Texans their first road win, in Jacksonville, 21-19. The Jaguars, no doubt anxious to avoid further embarrassment, will win if they run.

*Kansas City 26, Buffalo 21
The Chiefs are excellent on the run, the Bills live by the pass, and each team has problems on defense against those strengths. A 21-17 victor in ’00, Buffalo has taken four of its last five from K.C.

*Miami 25, Baltimore 13
They held the Dolphins to and 151 total yards in a 20-3 Wild Card playoff win last season, but the Ravens aren’t the defenders they were then. After their loss to the Jets, Miami should be hopping mad.

*N.Y. Giants 18, Washington 12
A battle of field goals? Both the Giants’ and Redskins’ defenses are better than their offenses, so they’ll fight for field position. In ’01 N.Y. won at home, 23-9, then Washington did likewise, 35-21.

*Oakland 27, New England 26
Our upset of the week, in which the Raiders will somehow win with the run. They’ll have to, because they can’t pass against the Patriots, who dismissed Oakland from the playoffs last year in OT, 16-13.

*Philadelphia 29, Arizona 13
If the Eagles are to make the transition from good team to great team, they’ve got to be able to put away clubs like the Cardinals. Arizona edged Philly in Philly in ’01, 21-20, then lost in Tempe, 21-7.

Pittsburgh 25, *Tennessee 16
If the Steelers are to make the above transition, they need to sack teams like Tennessee. Last season Pittsburgh ended a seven-game Titans series win streak decisively, sweeping them 34-7 and 34-24.

San Francisco 28, *San Diego 21
Until these teams develop some passing to go with their running, this is a very-long-odds potential Super Bowl matchup. S.F. has won the last six in the series, most recently a 45-17 mugging in ’00.

*Tampa Bay 20, Carolina 10
In Week Eight this pairing went pretty much as we predicted: four field goals for the Buccaneers -- three in the fourth quarter -- and three for the Panthers. With these offenses, it’s more of the same.

*St. Louis 32, Chicago 14
What would’ve been a marquee showdown in ’01 (but wasn’t scheduled) stands out like a sore thumb in ’02. The Rams, who won big over the Bears three years ago, 34-12, will do so again through the air.
