Sorry, I was only able to spend five minutes on my picks this week......

Sunday November 24, 2002

Atlanta 26, *Carolina 13
Falcons QB Michael Vick threw and ran for 269 yards in Atlanta’s 30-0 pasting of the Panthers in Week Seven. Carolina’s offense is still pitiful, and the Falcons can run on its otherwise strong defense.

*Baltimore 17, Tennessee 14
If there are any more-inconsistent teams in the NFL, we don’t know who they are. The Ravens have won their last four games with the Titans and held Tennessee to no more than 10 points in the last three.

Buffalo 24, *N.Y. Jets 21
The Jets don’t have the secondary to stop the Bills, whose Drew Bledsoe connected on 26 of 39 passes against them on Sunday No. 1 -- before Chad Morton won it for N.Y. with a kickoff-return TD in OT.

*Chicago 14, Detroit 13
Speaking of OT surprises, the Lions sprang one on the Bears last month with a 48-yard Jason Hanson field goal that gave Detroit a 23-20 win. These are two of the least-productive offenses in the league.

*Dallas 20, Jacksonville 19
Almost too close to call, but the Cowboys’ defensive line can decide it by fencing in the Jaguars’ solid running game. These teams have met only twice, a Dallas win in 1997 and a Jacksonville win in ’00.

*Denver 27, Indianapolis 16
Let’s go to the air -- maybe. Both clubs love to throw, but the Colts’ pass defense is better than the Broncos’, so Denver will win by running, which it also does well. Indy was a 29-10 winner last year.

Green Bay 21, *Tampa Bay 17
The Packers won’t miss their former division rival the Buccaneers, who’ve beaten them four straight years in T.B. If G.B. stays on the ground it’ll squeak by; if the Pack insists on passing it’ll lose.

Kansas City 24, *Seattle 17
If any game should be predictable, it’s this one, matching the Chiefs’ NFL-best ground game against the Seahawks’ league-worst run defense. Seattle ended a three-game K.C. series win streak in ’01.

*Miami 27, San Diego 22
If any game looks unpredictable, it’s this one: Both teams are at their offensive and defensive best when they’re running or stopping the run. Miami won its third straight over S.D. two years ago, 17-7.

*New England 30, Minnesota 13
Still one of the league’s most productive offenses, the Vikings are beating themselves with endless mistakes. Also, they can’t play pass defense, which will doom them in N.E. -- where they won in ’00.

*New Orleans 23, Cleveland 16
The only unit here that doesn’t rank much closer to the bottom of the NFL than the top is the Saints’ offense, which should be able to run all day against the Browns. Cleveland won last, in ’99, 21-16.

N.Y. Giants 20, *Houston 14
This should be a good test for the Giants, who are dazzling no one but keep plodding steadily ahead: The Texans’ secondary is their defensive strength, and N.Y. is at its best when it puts the ball up.

Oakland 25, *Arizona 17
If the Raiders can’t regain their footing against the Cardinals, who should be helpless against Oakland’s passing attack, the Raiders are done for. Arizona won a wild one over Oakland last year, 34-31.

*Pittsburgh 26, Cincinnati 9
Bengals QB Jon Kitna threw three interceptions and lost a fumble in the Steelers’ 34-7 rout of Cincy in October. Pittsburgh should steamroll its way to its fifth win in the last six games of this series.

St. Louis 32, *Washington 16
Speaking of steamrolling: Unless the Redskins play way over their heads, they’ll be swamped by the momentum-juiced Rams. For what it’s worth, Washington has won four of its last five against St. Louis.

Monday November 25, 2002

*San Francisco 27, Philadelphia 24
The Eagles’ air game is suffering, but the 49ers’ defensive line will have to tighten up to stop one of the NFL’s best rushing attacks. Their ’01 encounter turned on defense, and S.F. prevailed 13-3.

Captain who had to rush his picks this week. Of course, I'm just pulling these stats of the top of my head.....

Pulling these stats off the top of your head worked for you before but whoever you are copying these from is due for a very bad week. For once are those your final predictions or as always will there be last minute changes again!!

My pics will be made later after you have changed your regular three or four pics.;)

No points again Captain? Little confident aren't we!!

Chalk another one up for the Captain

As of now, I have 6 wins and you have 4 Parkputz. I have Philly tomorrow and you have San Fran. I think we both Denver in tonight's game, so it looks like I am the winner again. Here's to 4 beers next weekend and Sheran........

Upon further review, I actually have SEVEN wins and you still have 4. Unlucky, big fella.

Captain who can't believe Oliver didn't show up yesterday.....

Ah yes, Chelan. I do believe we are tied now, in terms of our weekly picks. That is the 4th time I have won(third on the trot) and I am starting to like this. I will have to make sure we get Budweiser again, as I enjoy that more than Canadian again. BTW, how much was our bill last night? I didn't have much money left this morning. Surely, I didn't use the credit card again?

I am predicting a double digit total next week......

I don't know what are bill was but we did both pay by cash!! I came home with 5 bucks, that is not good. Spent way to much. Yes Bud it is next week again. Hopefully I will be ready to play!!!

BTW shouldn't you check the "site" of your picks before declaring how many you are going to get!! Or should I say how many they are going to get right!!;)

The 'site' is inside my head. I just know how to pick them..... Unfortunately, I was unable to turn anything into a cnuting win this weekend. I am going to deposit $200 and if/when I lose this, I will be taking a THREE week break. Guaranteed. :(

Captain,

Are you going to give up your source? I don't see what this is a secret for anyway!! Just because you can't pick the winners for yourself and need a little bit of help doesn't change the bet any!!

As there are two thursday games this week, will we pick all of our games on wednesday or just the two being played? I will leave this decision up to you. Hopefully for your sake your "source" can come through for you again.

Sorry....

Sorry, Parkputz, but I have been trying to contain the water leakage around my fcuking house. However, I have managed to put aside THREE minutes to come up with my picks and analysis for tomorrow's games and the games on the weekend.......

I'm kind of questioning 'my' picks this week but I guess I have to go with 'my' picks, since they have won THREE weeks in a row....

Thursday, November 28, 2002

New England 23, *Detroit 14 (NE)
All the Patriots should worry about here is completing passes, because the Lions can’t stop them if they do. They last squared off two Thanksgivings ago, when Detroit came away with an easy 34-9 win.

Washington 14, *Dallas 10 (Wash)
A matchup of weak offenses and OK defenses, so don’t expect a lot of scoring. This pick is a huge upset, because the Cowboys have won the last nine in the series, most recently 9-7 and 20-14 in 2001.

Sunday, December 1, 2002

Atlanta 27, *Minnesota 21 (Atl - don't know why I'm going against the mighty Vikings)
No sure thing for the Falcons if they stick to their strength, the run, because the Vikings are as good at it as they are and defend much better against it. Minnesota was a 17-14 winner three years ago.

Baltimore 21, *Cincinnati 12 (Balt)
Jamal Lewis ran for 135 yards and two TD’s in the Ravens’ unexpectedly offense-filled 38-27 win over the Bengals three weeks ago. Baltimore needs this one badly, but we wonder how Cincy can get psyched.

*Buffalo 24, Miami 21 (Buf)
In Week Seven the Bills intercepted four Ray Lucas passes on the way to thrashing the Dolphins 23-10. Miami may have the defensive advantage, but Buffalo will more than likely have a meteorological one.

*Cleveland 22, Carolina 16 (Carolina)
Speaking of defensive edges, the Panthers continue to excel -- on paper, anyway -- against both ground and air attacks. Obviously stats aren’t everything. They’ve met once, in ’99, a 31-17 Carolina win.

Denver 28, *San Diego 21 (Denver)
In October the Broncos did what we said they would against the Chargers, limiting their running game (while Brian Griese threw for 316 yards and two TD’s) and winning 26-9. Look for more of the same.

*Green Bay 35, Chicago 13 (Green Bay)
The same weekend Denver beat up on S.D., the Packers sacked the Bears for the 15th time in their last 17 games, 34-21. G.B. is better than Chicago in everything but run defense, but the Bears can’t run.

*Indianapolis 26, Houston 12 (Indy)
Not only did the Texans do nothing against the Colts 10 weeks ago, losing 23-3, but they still have the worst offense in the NFL. Their bright spot, which should make the rematch closer, is pass defense.

*Kansas City 29, Arizona 15 (KC)
The Cardinals, headed downhill even before they met the Eagles and Raiders, will struggle against the Chiefs’ ground attack. Last year Arizona withstood a furious fourth-quarter K.C. rally to win 24-16.

*New Orleans 20, Tampa Bay 18 (NO)
It was a sign of all the wackiness to come when the Saints racked up 368 yards against the Buccaneers’ defense in a 26-20 Week One win. The T.B. D has few weaknesses, so a N.O. repeat will be tough.

*N.Y. Giants 24, Tennessee 17 (NYG)
There’s no telling what will happen in a game involving the Titans, but the Giants should win if they put the ball up. N.Y. won the first five games in this series and Tennessee has won the last two.

St. Louis 21, *Philadelphia 20 (Phil)
The Eagles’ horrific QB luck aside, the ’01 NFC Championship rematch may still be the game of the week. Heck, A.J. Feeley may be the next big story. East of Denver, these are the NFL’s most balanced teams.

Pittsburgh 23, *Jacksonville 21 (Jacksonville)
Brilliant one week and bumbling the next, the Steelers seem as moody as the Titans. In the seven years of their AFC Central rivalry, Jacksonville won eight of 14 against Pittsburgh and was 6-1 at home.

*San Francisco 26, Seattle 14 (SF)
In Seattle in October, 49er Terrell Owens’s post-winning-TD ball-signing highlighted S.F.’s 28-21 victory over the Seahawks. Seattle will want some payback, but the 49ers are too strong on the ground.

Monday, December 2, 2002

*Oakland 30, N.Y. Jets 17 (Oakland)
What weirdness will ensue here? Balls should fill the air, because neither team plays competent pass defense. The Raiders fought off a late Jets rally to win a wild-card playoff game last season, 38-24.

I must admit, I don't feel good about 'my' picks this week......

That sucks about your water tank and ect. I haven't had a great week either, I have not worked a single day this week so this weekend will probably have to be a quiet one. I think we could handle one Saturday night off.

I will make my pics soon.

Four in a row.......

I am currently sitting at 10 - 3 , with the San Diego/Den game in overtime. You are sitting at a pathetic 7 - 6. I believe I am the winner for another week. Look how accurate some of 'my' predictions were too.......
