So if I'm reading that correctly, the VISL has a transfer deadline of March 31st?!?!?! Surely, that can't be correct

I guess they have a point though that we stack our teams over here  Seems to me that if you have less teams in your league, the talent is more condensed and thus, teams should be better

What a bunch of BS

From the VISL website......

Transfer of players:

Transfer of players is possible on the appropriate Application to Transfer Form, on or before January 15 of each year.

I have not looked at the VISL website, nor seen their constitution, but what I think is being stated here is that the league has the same "transfer deadline" as us on the mainland, but that players from teams who did NOT qualify for the Provincials could technically sign with teams that HAVE as their contractual obligations for the 2002/2003 season to the later team no longer exists.

Sounds like dirty pool to me. In my opinion, players should be bound to their clubs until the conclusion of Provincial Cup play, excluding of course the Champions, who need to stay bound for Nationals. Is this not the way it is/has been here on the mainland???

draw becoming clearer...

jackson cup results from the island:

vantreights 1 - bays u. 0
gorge 2 - powell river 1 (golden goal)

coupled with pak cup result over the weekend (sfc rangers 1-0 over gn), the provincial draw should now look like:

G1: Pegasus FC vs Nanaimo (VISL League Qualifier #1)

G2: SFC Rangers vs VISL Jackson Cup Winners (Gorge or Vantreights)

G3: Westside Rino vs Burnaby Canadians

G4: Surrey United vs Powell River (VISL League Qualifier #2)**

**i know there was indication previously that this would be Vantreights, but the way i read the draw is that the Jackson Cup winner and runner-up is/are to be placed in G2 and G6 leaving the #2 qualifier (Powell River) to fill G4.

G5: ICSF Inter vs Khalsa 96ers

G6: Gorge or Vantreights (VISL Jackson Cup Runners-up) vs Sporting Club

G7: Peace Arch vs Golden Ears

G8: Firefighters vs North Delta

KNVB or anyone - am i wrong?

Smallsy, I know we wanted Gorge and Vantreights to win so we could play ( I thought ) Powell River. So you could be right. For once.

Helmuut, who the hell is Gordon Head? It sounds like a porn name. Who are they and how good are they?

I knew a guy named "Mike Head" once. Seriously. Poor fcuker couldn't take the piss, or handle having the piss taken out of him either. To top things off, he had this huge flavour savor of a beard he never trimmed.

Back on topic...a road trip to Powell River would be a blast- and probably the kiss of death for any team having to make the trip.

knvb, according to their website, gordon head soccer association claims former alums include steve and martin nash but no indication of any nash mangler;)

Knvb, Gordon Head is a prison near Victoria. If you are playing them in the Provincials I strongly recommend a few things:

1)Do not drop the fcuking soap!
2)Do not tell anyone you are going to make them your bitch
3)Don't ask them how the pea soup is nowadays
4)If anyone says they've got a wicked shank don't assume they're talking about miskicking the ball
5)DO say hi to my dad for me

can't say much about the squad...but whoever designed their kit must of been high as a kite...worst ever! Also, William Head is the prison....no relation to Gordon.

caps do play saturday the 5th out in the valley (abby or the wack i believe), which will mean no fonseca for sporting (marques wouldn't have been playing regardless).
i think the gorge loss in the jackson cup could turn out to be a blessing for the victoria lads.

besty, sorry to hear of tommy's injury today. hope he is doing ok.
