You can't win with Europeans, that is why Richards is the better option.

Racist of the year: Itallian_Stalion21

How is that racist? On another note, apparently Vancouver and Dallas made their offers for Richards yesterday with Columbus making their offer today. Feaster will now evaluate them and make a decision, didn't say when though.

I saw we have a very strong chance of landing Richards....Tampa is looking for a goalie and Dman. Although we have both in Bourdon andn Schneider. Dallas also that with experience in Mike Smith and Philippe Boucher. Depending on what tampa is looking for..for next season...do they want prospects or do they want experience? And columbus? I dont think they have a change unless they unload fedorov.

History has proven you can win with Europeans, but it has also proven that nobody has done it yet with one as Captain. One one team has won w/ a non-Canadian Captain: Dallas w/ Kevin Hatcher wearing the C.

One day it will happen, but it will take a dominant player and personality. I don't think Naslund has what it takes. Sundin does, but not the team around him. Same w/ Alfredson.

Go get BR, and next year let Naslund go.

You are correct, I should have been more specific, but traditionally Euro's can't handle the grind of the playoffs, thus the disappearance of them during said playoffs (Hossa, etc). There are obviously exceptions, but I'd still rather see us get a big, strong Canadian centre for our playoff run.

You also need to read my comments carefully. The word CAN only means that it is possible. The obvious performers are the likes of Forsberg, Lidstrom, Holik, Alfredson, Sundin...way back I recall Bure had a nice little run w/ us.

You need a balance. You need a strong regular season team to get you to the dance, and over 82 games, you can't deny Hossa has huge value. That being said, it is more than coincidental that Canadian players in particular find more motivation and the ability to raise their pain threshold for the playoffs- which is the reason why basically all Stanley Cup winners all had a very healthy contingent of Canadian players, and all but one were led by Canadian Captains.

You can't argue with facts and history.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Seriously.

Still trying to get lost in details.....

Captains: (5)
Mark Tinordi 1993/94
Neal Broten 1994/95
Derian Hatcher 1994/95-2002/03
Mike Modano 2003/04-2005/06
Brenden Morrow 2006/07-Present

He (D. Hatcher) played ..... Stars, collecting 71 goals, 223 assists, 1,380 penalty minutes, and captained the Stars to the Stanley Cup in 1999.

my bad, now back on topic :D

The TEAM 1040's poll question was Richards or Jokinen...

which is the better Option for the 'Nucks?

I say Jokinen, except he is a Euro, and we will never win anything with a Euro Captain:rolleyes:

..not that he would be our captain though...I think Mitchell or Bieksa should be after Nazzy

Damn...should have googled which Hatcher. In typing Kevin, I was thinking.."was it Derian"? I knew one was far less accomplished than the other, just couldn't remember who that was. I settled on the thought than no guy named "Derian" could captain a team. Talk about a great porn name...for a bird. And that's no jokinen.

Anyhow...

I still say BR is a better fit overall, except the risk of his salary becoming a massive anchor is HUGE. We need to be a little less Euro.

Noonis will extend the twins, and due to their success together, he has leverage. They will not want to split up. Can't argue that they have a good thing going here either, and let's face it...although productive, they are not in the individual points range that would comand the real big bucks. I bet he can get them for $4.5m-$5m each.

If Sensei was still hanging around TTP these days, I bet he could offer some insight to sort us all out.

Is he still dead?

He set that up so well...

"My foot is just not right... still painful" (READ: PULL OUT YOUR WALLETS IF YOU WANT ME TO PUT ON THOSE TORTURE DEVICES CALLED SKATES)

"I'm not sure i will be able to compete... i cannot trust my foot" (READ: I'M BUILDING IN A READY-MADE EXCUSE I CAN GO BACK TO IF I shite THE BED AND DONT PERFORM)

Nicely done. Now lets see how he does.
