Div 2 [FVSL Div 2] October 2009 Banter and Results

You guys should be just fine next week against the Titans! That being said we could only manage a tie with these young punks. They like to push 4 or 5 guys up at a time and we were caught off guard on a counter. It was a 1 on 3 for me and they were able to put it passed our keeper. We controlled the rest of the game but could only score 1. Really hard to get anything going when they would foul us every single time we had the ball.
In all honestly, we must of had between 20-30 free kicks from all over the field. Our midfielders and forwards ankles must be killing them today!! #17 was astonished each and every time he was called for using two hands to push one of us D in the back while chasing the ball. They aren't a bad team, they just play grimy Div. 3 soccer. Oh yeah and running our goalie was complete garbage and that guy is very lucky to only get a yellow.
Tough result for Inter, but sometimes a loss can do wonders for a team. Make sure to mark the guy with the neon green boots and you'll be fine!!
Who predicted Langley beating Red Devils??? I guess it was a battle between First and Second, and anything can happen. Langley scored 10 mins in on their first possession of more than 15 seconds. What a beautiful ball over our fullbacks head from the center mid and great touch over our keeper for a very nice goal. However, it seemed like only a matter of time before we would score. Having said that, we've all played games where the other team doesn't touch the ball but you still lose. Good thing for us that Athletica's goalie couldn't hold on to a rebound if his life depended on it. Tied it up 20 mins in, went into half 1-1. Flood gates opened up 2nd half on some rebound goals, and some nice shots.
To Athletica's keeper: I understand being frustrated when you have a couple quick goals go in. But have some class. Kicking a forward who is working hard and running down a ball makes your team look bad. Lucky that your teammates are good guys, so I won't lump them in the basket as you. On the other hand, gotta thank you for taking that stupid foul: It allowed our striker to put the finishing touches on his 4th hatty of the year. Nice work.

Athletica came out at half with energy, but after a couple of Red Devil goals, maybe 3 -1 score, they started to sag. When it was 4 -1, they quit. No matter what the score, a team should always try to get one back, even if it is 10 -1, try to make it 10 - 2. North Delta was down against the Red Devils, with no subs, but they never quit until the final whistle. Langley keeper, don't grab the opposing player, reel in your own player, otherwise you fan the fire. They let you off easy, cause the last 15 or 20 minutes they just passed the ball around.
