As the drunk soccer ref, thats not a bad costume I guess.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qqB3N-306A"]YouTube - Referee Shows Up Drunk For Soccer Game[/ame]

Wish I could make it, but we play Moneyman and GEU, it was to be played on Friday night, but most of us are taking the little goblins and princesses out for tricks and treats, so that game has been moved to sunday afternoon at the NAP at 2pm, followed by sunday night football and the Nucks at 7, should be a great day, bring the familly, I mean Jags and Cider.

Looking forward to the new Rankings, we should be moving on up, and if we don't expect to hear from Coach late on wednesday night.
Did I mention Delta and Aldergrove tied and we put 7 past Mission.

Sounds tame compared to 7-1, but don't forget us small fry... 5-0 Wickham victory over Romania Friday night will hopefully keep those Coachs' League teams at bay for another week.

Was going to report lakeside from Summerland this weekend, but once up there found my neighbour had closed down his wireless for the winter -- the nerve of some people.

Ok, lets spice this up a bit. Enough with videos of Walks on this thread. It is now time for an off site version of this week's edition of:

Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings, 2008-2009.

Here we go:

1. Sapperton Rovers (VMSL. Last week's rank: 1). Sapperton made an emphatic claim to #1 spot in these rankings by spanking Columbus (and no, that not that is not WAB's nickname for Mr. Happy) last Wednesday evening. Home to Cliff next.

2. Surrey FC Rangers (FVSL. Last week's rank: 8). This team finally woke up last week, hammering Mission 7-1. Coach is now officially off suicide watch. Home to Abbotsford next, could be another big score.

3. Columbus (VMSL. Last week's rank: 2). Columbus took it on the chin last Wednesday at VanTech. Kind of like Gina Fabro actually. They have to make the always lovely trek to CAP tomorrow eve.

4. West Van FC (VMSL. Last week's rank: 7). This team defeated a stacked Westside team on Sunday. Inter next at Hastings.

5. PCOV (VMSL. Last week's rank: 9). PCOV make a big leap this week, after a tidy 2-0 win over Cliff. Home to Richmond next.

6. West Side (VMSL. Last week's rank: 5). Westside drops after losing at home on the weekend. Fielded a very good side last week. Can they pull off a similar lineup this weekend? Away to MFFF next.

7. Delta Metro United (FVSL. Last week's rank: 3 ). This side drops again after not taking maximum points from previously unranked Aldergrove last week. PAU Blue next.

8. GEU Thunder (FVSL. Last week's rank: 10). This team, well funded by Moneyman, is proving to be the real deal this year. Tied PAU Blue last week, away to a shellshocked Mission coming up, another team in the same league painting themselves Blue.

9. PAU Blue (FVSL. Last week's rank: 12). This team is back in the top ten of these rankings, a place to which they are much more accustomed. They tied GEU last week, and face arch rival Delta Metro United this coming weekend, in a FVSL MOTW.

10. Cliff Avenue (VMSL. Last week's rank: 6). Cliff drops after a tough loss to PCOV. Must make the always pleasurable trip out to QP this Friday where they meet the Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings juggernaut Sapperton.

11. ICSF Inter (VMSL. Last week's rank: 15). Inter moves up after their controversial result against Richmond on the weekend. West Van next.

12. RCIU (VMSL. Last week's rank: 11). Down one after their tie. Away to PCOV next.

13. Surrey United (VMSL. Last week's rank: 14) . Surrey moves up one after picking up a point on the weekend. Home to Columbus Friday. Staff are reporting that Surrey will be without their leading scorer for that one.

14. Mission Blues (FVSL. Last week's rank: 4). Big drop for these guys this week after a 7-1 loss. Chance to regroup this coming week, hosting the GEU Thunder.

15. Wickham (VMSL. Last week's rank: 13). This side defeated the always dangerous Romania on the weekend. Home to Meralomas on Friday.

16. Metro Ford Firefighters (VMSL. Last week's rank: 17 ). Metro Ford Firefighters got a point against Surrey United. That is not the reason, however, that they move up. The actual reason for this ascendance is the fact that Sir M just recently learned that Walks plays on this team this year. Westside next.

17. Aldergrove (FVSL. Last week's rank: not ranked). Welcome back gentlemen. Tied DMU on the weekend. Home to PAU White next. We will sell you the whole seat, but you're only going to need the edge for this one.

18. PAU White (FVSL. Last week's rank, not ranked). This white team makes its debut in the rankings after defeating Langley in a black and white affair on the weekend. Away to Aldergrove next, in a somewhat less formal engagement.

19. Roma (NSCL. Last week's rank: 16 ). Staff explain this drop by asserting that it is very difficult to rank a team when they do not play, while all other rankings prospects do. Home to Malones next, I think.

20. Coveside FC (NSCL. Last week's rank: 18). Coveside also did not play on the weekend. And, they do not play again this weekend.

So, that is it for this week's special, live, from Las Vegas edition of Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings. May the best teams win.

No Muzz, no Harky, no Villars, no Marini, it is going to be tough.

Oh, and we are w/o a keeper as Ang is away and someone else who quit on us is playing for the opposing team. Seriously. But at least he asked if he could join us in the clubhouse to have a pint. That was nice of him.

Rally time.

Tough times out at the CAP for old Reggy. That is tough about your keeper situation, but come on, you have one of the best keepers in BC in your Club, just get Sheps signed up for one game, he could even play up front for you boys in the second half.
Better yet, Reedie was telling me that Penner was looking for a team, just don't pass the ball back to him.

Stay tuned ColemanJ. But the #13 team got points against Columbus, not Meralomas, by way of reference. Who knows what will happen tomorrow though.

Apparently Conductor wasn't happy with Roma's drop with to #19 in Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings after the bye week and took it out on his team by making them train extra hard in the rain at Heywood gravel on Thursday night. Players who skipped practice were fined their TTP Tokens.

He seemed to make his point and the players responded by trouncing Malones
10-1 this morning.

I think Roma has at least 50 goals this year, though Conductor is still looking for his first of the season.

North Shore Re-Cap for Week of Oct 19th: NAFC continue to roll in week 5 of the coaches league with a 6-0 win over the struggling Guardians. Despite two beautiful goals in the first half including a header that just about tore the net down NAFC looked flat in the first 45 (perhaps it was too much turkey). NAFC came out flying with 3 goals in the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half. Credit to NAFC for pulling players and making mutiple subs and not running up the score. NAFC have a bye next week, but still can do no worse than 2nd place even if everyone below win. Guardians played with class and worked hard throughout the game. Kudos! Vikings convert on a penelty in the first 10 minutes of the first half after a vikings player was chopped down 15ft from goal. Norvan golie guessed the right way and came a foot away from saving it. Vikings penelty taker was shaky at best. Rest of the game goes back and forth, with Norvan having several decent chances. Both teams looked a step to slow. (perhaps it was too much turkey) LV Azteca and Nordic play a hard fought game on a wet pitch at McCartney. Nordic win 1-0 but barley. Both team look a bit slow (perhaps it was too much turkey). Afer a 1-1 tie at half time, Roma come on flying and pound in 9 goals in the 2nd half on Malones. Malones looked very disorganized and confused with Roma controlling the ball from defence to offence. Roma simply a better team but perhpas should take a page from NAFC and take the pedel of the medal once the game is won. Seymour put in 5 on Warriors. I don't see Seymour finishing anywhere in the top 5. Great jerseys but lack the talent to beat the top teams. Coverside had a bye. After 5 weeks, I think its safe to say Roma & NAFC are the best teams and should finish 1 and 2. No one so far has been able to stop these 2 teams fire power with Roma averaging 7 goals a game and NAFC 5. Slow and steady Vikings, Coveside and Nordic should round out the top 5.

Predictions for Week 6:
Coveside win 2-1
LV Azteca win 4-0
Roma win 4-1
Nordic win 5-0
Seymour win 3-0

Well. First off, welcome to new SMEPR staff member whatapass, who, unfortunately will be not available for comment this coming week due to a training commitment. But after whatapass' upcoming "hooked on phonics" course he will be providing some long awaited input for these rankings about the new North Shore Coaches League, staff are hoping. But enough about that. Here we go now with this week's edition of:

Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings, 2008-2009.

1. Sapperton Rovers (VMSL. Last week's rank: 1). Sapperton's manager called Sir M a pussy this week: meow. Their game was postponed, and they are off to Richmond this Friday.

2. PCOV (VMSL. Last week's rank: 5). PCOV make another big leap this week, after a 3-0 win over Richmond on the weekend, a team of strength, hence the somewhat controversial change in the #2 and #3 rankings positions.

3. Surrey FC Rangers (FVSL. Last week's rank: 2). This team beat up on the Abbotsford Ancient Mariners on the weekend. Down one. Away to PAU Rangers next, who staff report have several players about Trece Verde's age in the lineup.

4. West Van FC (VMSL. Last week's rank: 4). This team defeated Inter at Inter's home field last Sunday, and have taken full points in their last three. Home to PCOV next, in what should be a real test.

5. West Side (VMSL. Last week's rank: 6). Westside is up one spot this week after defeating MFFF 4-1 on Friday. A quality side, with excellent fan support. They are especially dangerous when they are cat-ing. A bit like JAGS. Home to Inter next, in yet another in a series of editions of a classic VMSL rivalry.

6. Columbus (VMSL. Last week's rank: 3). Columbus has dropped five points in their last two games, and in the process, some four rankings positions. Still, at the end, they could easily Be Champions. Home to Metro Ford FF this Friday, and staff predict that they could move up after that game in these rankings.

7. Delta Metro United (FVSL. Last week's rank: 7 ). This side maintains its position after an emphatic win over one of several PAU sides in the FVSL Masters division. Home to Mission next. But staff note, that this side is in first place in the FVSL, and, as such, staff are feverishly evaluating this particular ranking. More to come after DMU's upcoming match this week against another FVSL enigma (and no, RF, that is not an en francais reference to a potential cure for your digestive issues)...Les Blues from Mission.

8. Mission Blues (FVSL. Last week's rank: 14). Speaking of mercurial sides, Mission is back in the top ten after defeating the GEU Thunder on the weekend. Tied for second place in the FVSL with SFC. Huge game this coming Friday, away to #7 Delta Metro United next. This game will provide perspective on the FVSL, staff are predicting.

9. Surrey United (VMSL. Last week's rank: 13) . Surrey Utd, realistically, are "better than that" when compared to several higher ranked teams. However, this evaluation is highly weighted on "what have you done lately". In any event, their tie against a higher ranked Columbus on the weekend moves them up four spots, and puts them back into the top ten of these rankings. Away to Cliff on Friday at BLSCW, in an interesting matchup, for people that want to get away from their wives and freeze.

10. Cliff Avenue (VMSL. Last week's rank: 10). Cliff got duped into not playing this last week, and remain the same. Home to Surrey United next.

11. ICSF Inter (VMSL. Last week's rank: 11). Inter battled hard against an higher ranked side this last week, and maintain their position. Away to Westside next, in a real character builder.

12. GEU Thunder (FVSL. Last week's rank: 8). This side lost to Mission on the weekend, and drop four spots. Still a year or two away, staff are predicting. But home to Abbotsford Ancient Mariners next, in what could be a perfect opportunity to right the ship.

13. PAU White (FVSL. Last week's rank, 18). Who is this team? They have gone from being unranked to #13 in two weeks. Another win over a higher ranked side moves them right up. Home to PAU Blue in a PAU derby (shudder) next.

14. Wickham (VMSL. Last week's rank: 15). This side has a strong lobbying contingent on TTP. Up one. Have to drive out to Larry Walker on Sunday to meet Lobbans and then sit around in a change room so small, one has has to step outside to change one's mind. Very impressive thus far in Div 1 VMSL, and staff are beginning to take notice. It just takes a bit.

15. RCIU (VMSL. Last week's rank: 12). This team had a good start, but staff have determined that a strategy of doing drills before the game, getting numbers out, and imploring the officials to send opposing players sent off is now wearing thin, and has not been a recipe for success this last three weeks. Sapperton at home this coming Friday, in what could be a close game.

16. PAU Blue (FVSL. Last week's rank: 9). This team is down after losing to DMU. Huge derby next, and that one will have a lot to say about which team has bragging rights over there in PAU Nation.

17. Metro Ford Firefighters (VMSL. Last week's rank: 16 ). Metro Ford Firefighters got hammered at home by Westside on the weekend. They need to get some players out, or start thinking about over 40s or Div 1 soon. Staff say the have the potential to pull this out though. Away to Columbus next.

18. Roma (NSCL. Last week's rank: 19 ). Staff do not like 10-1 scores boys. Home to Vikings next.

19 Aldergrove (FVSL. Last week's rank: 17). Our robust friends from Aldergrove lost to PAU (White) on the weekend. They play Sikh next, and need a result to remain in these rankings, staff predict. Gut check time.

20. NAFC (NSCL. Last week's rank: not ranked). Don't look now, but NAFC is tied for first in the always competetive NSCL. NAFC defeated The Guardians, who apparantly had some guarding problem, by a 6-0 scoreline this last weekend. Idle this coming week.

So, that is it for this week.

8-nil win on the weekend, with no Ranger "3 goals" Forever in the line-up, not sure what we have to do to stay at #2 or step into #1, perhpas beating #4 and #1 in Provincials will help.
Look out SirM, Coach will not be happy about this, just a warning.
