You're right. A team at the bottom of the second division can be compared to a top notch first division squad. ;)

I guess it could be worse. Oops, it can't. Being 13 points behind the league leaders is humiliating enough.

I guess we are a little distracted with still being in Europe, and all. I guess you it's tough to relate, no?

You are wrong, Capitano. It certainly can get worse. You can lose the best player your club has had in yonks over the summer. Only to have the best coach you have had in yonks to follow.

Two in a row. Maybe. 9-in-a-row. Not since.....well....Jock Stein (RIP).

Bucky,

Do we really have to go back to the first team to accomplish the feat you speak of? I didn't think so. It is old news, like the excuses that come from Rangers' fans every week for its' recent lack of success. Like you said, at least there is still a chance for a second rate trophy. This should help draw back some of the players who have been leaving recently. You shouldn't start talking about players leaving teams at this point in time, Bucky.

Good for Berwick, seing as it was Rangers vs. Rangers we thought we'd share the wealth on a replay.

Just to mildly correct you Captain:
Although we still have a chance for a second rate trophy (Tennant's Cup), we also still have a chance on a first rate trophy (UEFA Cup).

Cheerio.

Guinness,

After Feyenoord disposes of Rangers, what is your come back going to be?

No need for the Premier standings Captain S.

The Champions only need 11 more wins to mathematically take the title.

Perhaps you could post the Scottish Second Division standings.

Are Feyenoord currently bottom of the Dutch Second Divisione?

Feyenoord sit behind the team that Celtic knocked out of the 'A' Cup. So technically, Rangers have a chance. However, the good Dutch players(Fey) will run rings around the bad Dutch players(Rangers). Simple as that.

You got the headline wrong, for the sake of accuracy, it said,

Admittedly, quite funny.

Are there awards for those sort of headlines somewhere? That is still one of the best though it hurt at the time...

yes.

That headline won a shedload of awards that year. And rightly so. I think it ran away with the 'Sports Headline of the Year' award. Not literally, of course.

Bad team and no class

But for Berwick's part-timers, the blanket refusal - on and off the pitch - to hand them mementoes of their greatest night in football was hard to take, even if some of the Ibrox stars have promised to exchange tops come Monday's replay.

Berwick substitute Mark Bradley said: 'We couldn't believe they wouldn't swap jerseys with us.

'All anyone wanted was a souvenir of the club's biggest night since 1967. One of the ads tried to get Lorenzo Amoruso's jersey at full-time, but he said "No".

'Afterwards, when the lads tried again outside the Rangers dressing-room, he said he couldn't because Alex McLeish had told them all not to. It seemed a bit harsh.

'I didn't ask anyone, because I only came on for the last seven minutes, but I know some of the Rangers players were good about it. Neil McCann told another of the boys he would do it after the replay.'

The bad feeling generated by the decision to deprive the Second Division strugglers of a prize they can show off to their children - nonetheless shows McLeish's steelier side, and indicates the depth of his post-match anger.

But with Berwick now on a hiding to nothing come the replay, which will not be televised, it means the side are left with only their memories of a famous evening.

Bucky, this article is for you.

O'Neill ready to stay for five years
By Roddy Thomson

Martin O'Neill has banished lack of funds from his mind - and looked ahead to a five-year run of success for Celtic in Scotland.
The Celtic manager moved to quell fears that the collapse of the Old Firm's Premiership dream, coupled with receding TV revenues, would hasten his departure for a club with the financial clout to conquer Europe.

And despite financial constraints, he said money to buy big-name players would be available in the event of serious injury.

Success in Europe needs money, but the SPL can't produce enough and, asked if he fears becoming hemmed in by recession in the TV football industry, O'Neill said: 'It is not a Catch-22 for me - although it might be for the club.

'We can understand the obstacles to the Premiership idea. It is easy to see it from the position of a club chairman down south thinking somebody is coming in to take their place, and that's just the first obstacle.

'There was talk about a European or Atlantic League when I first came here - but if Celtic are only in the SPL for the next four or five years, that wouldn't prevent me trying to win the title, trying to retain it and trying to progress in Europe.

'The only way to do that is to be there regularly. Naturally, you need to add decent players - and they cost money.'

On the financial front, O'Neill added: 'Money is tight, but we are trying to push forward. Any manager would like loads of money, but it doesn't change my outlook.

'I still want to improve the side - and I understand Celtic have nothing phenomenal available. But that might eventually change. The aim is to be playing in Europe beyond Christmas.'

The Irishman says he is sanguine about the need for patience with regard to the club's current situation.

And despite reports emerging that the £22.5million summer share issue income was spent on debt or overdraft repayments, O'Neill is adamant he will be able to dip into the transfer market if it becomes essential.

He continues to look at potential targets and stressed: 'I am quite sure that if there was a necessity to go out and buy someone, if we had injuries that were more long-term than medium-term and we had to do it, I am sure the club would find the funds.

Opium for the masses.

I am glad you believe everything you read, Capitano. You probably think Elvis is living a trailer park somewhere in Cloverdale?

Bucky, you're so silly. Elvis is living somewhere in Germany.

I know it is hard for you to accept more bad news, but you have to. Celtic will dominate Rangers for at least the next 5 years. Simple as that. I will still give you a chance to meet and give me $40 now, instead of the inevitable $50, if you like? Anyway, it sounds like the Aberdeen/Forces of Darkness game had a lot of 'stuff' going on in the the stands. Apparently, the Rangers' fans were 100% at fault. It has to be true. I read it somewhere.
