Errr...I see where you're going with the explanation HOS, but comparing Gers and Celts move to England with expansion in the NHL is off the mark. The point I was trying to make is that elite teams jumping from one league to another is virtually unheard of. It would be the equivalent of a couple of the top Dutch teams jumping to the Bundesliga, or a couple of the finer French teams playing in La Liga. And since this has never happened before, there's no precedent as to what the results will be. Its a total crapshoot whether the move will be a success or failure.

Gers and Celts, unlike Atlanta and Columbus, have quality players already on their team and will not have to go through the rough first years that many expansions cities suffer through. The Auld Firm will be competitive right off the bat. This is not like the Carolina and/or Phoenix situations where quality teams were moved to new cities....this is a case of quality teams being added to an already strong league.

I mean, theoretically, it could work that the newfound balance of power/competition in the SPL means the smaller clubs may gain more prominence. Also consider that two more European spots open up in Scotland with the departure of Rangers and Celtic.

But, in the end, it does seem to be a case of the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

Sansei:
I'm not sure if they would take away those Europrean berths or not from the Old Firm at this stage.
I assume they would for obvious reasons.
Interesting point though.
It might be good for the other clubs - Who knows?
The part that does excite me though is the players now that will come to Rangers or Celtic.
So many players turn down a move to Glasgow simply because of the league.
It's never over the money.
My prediction if they show up in the EPL:
Top ten - EASY.
Within two years - Top five.

Celtic did indeed win one less trophy than Rangers, however they did win one more league than Rangers. And at the end of the season, that is all that matters.

Thank fcuk we're not going......

South Korea 4 - Scotland 1.

Nice job, Berti. With a strike force of Dobie and O'Conner (WTF!!), it's a bit of a surprise that we didn't get a result.

Embarrassing.

If you are rebuilding a team, you have to expect these sorts of results. Scotland's recent result against World Cup bound Nigeria was the same as Ireland's today. 2-1 loss.

The sad thing is, The Nations Cup Scotland Open and Over 30s squads probably would have put up better performances against the Koreans today.

BTW, I saw the goals on FSWC and they were all crackers.

Bucky, surprisingly it came right to me. BTW, I may be one post from being a Jerry's kid, but at least I'm not one inch from being as tall as one.

That came right to me as well.

How much money will he raise this year?

KNVB,

That's awfully presumptious of you. I've seen plenty of Jerry's Kids taller then 5'8".

But based on your posts, obviously, I'm just as guilty. I have also seen a few on the telethon playing their Fisher-Price piano who were much more coherent and well-spoken then you.

Have a great day in your remedial life.:)

The only goal I would consider a cracker was their last one. The rest of them were well placed.....from 30 yards out. There is no way in hell that a mediocre side like the Koreans should have had that much time to line up a shot.

The grit and determination, which typically makes up for our lack of skill on the ball, wasn't there.

And if the highlights are anything to go by, we didn't create one chance beyond the goal. But with a strike force of Tweedle-De and Tweedle-Dumb, it's no wonder. Christ, you and Fastshow would have been more useful......or at least more entertaining. Then again, Fastshow wouldn't qualify. He was born at the Lions Gate Hospital.
