You're calling Mario tall?

He's 5'10. Then again, you're about .5 inches taller than Cainy, so I guess he is tall.

Langley vs. Delta was a piss taking. Delta does dive a lot, but the ref wasn't biting. He did make some shoc-king calls though, but nothing that really had an outcome in the game. One looked offside, but I think it was the 3rd goal. Delta is a nicely tuned team, but I think our play made them look better that that at times.

BTW: our shot on goal wasn't a shot. I know- I scored it- and it was more of a pass from close range.

North Delta v Langley

Solid effort on our part today. Pretty much have to agree with dude. It was a piss-taking. We dominated every aspect of the game from the start. Could have been 6 or 7 for us. Langley played pretty well defensively in the first half, not really giving us much. Second half, we got a fairly early goal, making it 2-0 and put the game to bed from there. Langley have a good squad, but they would do better to worry more about their play on the field than bitching at the ref all game. Their sidelines were chirping from the opening whistle.

In regards to these diving comments, when you are a step slow to the ball and take out guys legs, or tackle from behind, guys are going to go down. Whether you mean to or not it is still a foul, and you guys where a step slow all game. It's one thing to play aggressive and get stuck in, but coming through guys backs and kicking away at them is not how the game is played. I also don't understand why some of your players continued to talk trash when it was 3-0 and you had barely seen our end of the field.

I was just looking at Whalley's record since the transfer deadline. How many guys did they pick up from Peg? They haven't won since. Looks like a bad move on their part to disrupt the chemistry they had.

Some thoughts on the game:

The Ref was a joke. Most of them are this year. Whalley whines more then any other team in the league easy. Especially number 11 in the middle of the park. Every time the whistle went he cried. The Storms keeper is easily their best player. We played good for the first half, and then started hoofing the ball up the park in the second. I don't think we had a shot in the second half. Still won though. Our defence was awsome yesterday. They shut down Sandro, and cleared about three balls of the line. And last but not least Mr. Bond was incredible in net. His best game of the year by far.

On to Presidents Cup action next week. We play Brittania Div. 4. Those are the scariest teams to play in cup.:(

Trash talk? I spoke in depth with my players after the game regarding their choice of words and timing regarding trash talk. They are bitter after a long stretch of soccer against good teams, and some poor officiating over the last few weeks though no excuse is relevant. I mentioned before we are a young squad and perhaps that is one of the most valuable lessons we can learn this year. It only takes one or two guys to start beaking off for the sideline to sound like a chorus of whiners. It didnt help that we had 2 parents that were dreadfull with their ref bashing. Even after the ref warned me to shut them up, they still continued to whine.

theRob:

Good job vs the Storm, though they obviously are in a slump right now its a good win for your squad, not to take anything away from your victory. In our tie a few weeks back their new players were invisible, I hope they get their sh*t straightened out before the cup play starts because the DIV 3 Clones will wipe them out if they don't play like they can.

Poco 2 Chilliwack 0

Well, what can I say. Poco came out sluggish for the first 15 minutes with a couple of glaring giveaways. (G-man for two). After that, Poco unloaded shot after shot after shot but continued to miss the target. Finally got one in the first half which seems to calm us down. Second half, Poco continued to pound shots goalward but a combination of some shocking:eek: finishing and good goalkeeping from the 'Wack keeper held us to only one in the second half. Poco must finish more chances if we are going to win the league and have a good run in the Prez Cup.

There was only one late transfer, and that was the addition of Mario. He's actually very solid, both as a sweeper, and midfielder. The only beef I have against him is the way and timing of his leaving Peg. Having said that, I'd have him on my team anytime. A very good, strong player, and great team guy.

So, having said that, I don't think he's the problem (he played with the Storm the past two summers anyhow). It may be that their strikers are being shut out, and they aren't getting that secondary scoring all teams would like to have. They pretty much rely on Andrew and Sandro for goals. They may be in a slump, but how many goals have they allowed in the last 4 games?

Agree with Sub- not a good time for a slump, especially against the Clones, who could very well surprise a few teams in the Presidents Cup.

Despite Santos' painting of a pretty picture, my sources indicate the all is not well in the Lions den. Just a few pieces of insight:

-Gibson is losing his competitive edge as he gets closer to "busting out" of Delta's Gangsta D.J. underground and finds himself surrounded by somewhat tempting groupies...

-Joely the goalie's hands are beginning to reject last year's transplant procedure. Apparently they have been overworked reaching for every piece of food in sight...

-Cheddar is still recovering from recent ultrasound tests that have confirmed his child will indeed have red hair. Poor kid. When will this cycle of humiliation end?

-K.G.'s contract allows him time to work as an "extra" in movies. Once he figures out what the "red light" on the camera means, he could be going Hollywood...

-Bobby Williams' love/hate relationship with his coach took a bizarre twist recently when they shared their first kiss. Noone's quite sure how this moment will impact on his playing time.

-Tim Kjellbotn's tardiness for games has become a major problem. Apparently he's been cruising by Vancouver International Airport on Sunday mornings to check for change left in the pay telephones.

- K.O.'s desperate pursuit of a firefighters job has him living with other hopefuls in a home that is featured on "fireboys.com". Apparently his schedule of webcam performances has conflicted with a number of games.

- John Gaull's credibility as a coach took a beating when it was discovered that he was actually born and raised in Abbotsford. I knew that accent was too crazy to be true.

- Kevin O. is permanently affixed to the DL and currently honouring the return of Cheech and Chong with his own personal FATTIE fest.

- Very little has been seen of Erik P. in the past few weeks. Turns out he's been lost in the shadow cast by his younger brother.

These stories have been supplied by a very reliable unnamed source (thanks Nathan!). Hopefully these lads can pull themselves together in time for a cup run through all those Div. 6 teams.

Lions in the mist....

The Delta Lions successfully began their march for a second consecutive President's Cup as they walked over a team of players comprised of "carnival folk" on leave from their gig at the Delta Shoppers Mall. There wasn't a lot of drama for the fans, but they were appreciative of John Gaull's "silent" approach while the game was tied 1-1. The game did afford me with a unique opportunity to observe this group however. Upon entering their dressing room after the game, I felt like Diane Fossey observing the Mountain Gorillas in Africa. The group was tentative at first but soon I gained their trust and was able to observe the following:

- the Lions are very curious about their genitalia and could be witnessed fondling both themselves and others in the room (despite the temptation, I was able to resist mimicking this behaviour)

- there was also an intimate exchange between two players that focussed on the care of their genitalia. Something about cradling the testicle between one's thumb and finger to feel an oval-shaped ball...

- T.K. left the group abruptly to return a Safeway buggy that he'd found in the ditch and claim the quarter that it housed.

- they were also a very politicized group and debated issues of the day, in particular the looming war in Iraq. This issue separated the room, leaving the lone American (and one ally) to fend off the logic of everyone else. (Hmmm, come to think of it that's what happening on the world stage as well.)

In the end, the gorillas...er...lions proved to be a very hospitable bunch. Special thanks to Cheddar who offered up two beers and as a result will be left unscathed by this post. Well done boys....

League Play

Back to league play for us Langley guys as we face Chilliwack tomorow (Sunday). At least its a home game for our squad though our numbers will be quite depleted as many of our guys are away this weekend or out with insult and injury. We had to call up a player from Div 3 Clones and as well we are playing without our keeper. Still our regulars should play hard and we could use a win (crosses fingers) after a poor Presidents cup and with an important game vs. GEU still remaining on the schedule. Could turn out to be a battle for 4th place if we win our games, otherwise we are fighting with ourselves for 6th

:(

Cheers and good luck Cat teams in the prez.

Langley 2 - Chilli 2

Tie game, yippee. Horribly officiated game both ways. Ref called offside's at random and out of a hat. Chilliwack got an own goal and it was evened up by our stand-in keeper who one slip through his hands while in goal. Not that I can blame our stand-in goalkeeper for allowing the Chilliwack player from walking in from the sideline unmaimed, in fact I owe Craig a great thanks for stepping up and playing goal for us. I guess our guys are bummed after being wacked out of the cup early as we only had 2 subs in comparison to our usual 5-6. We had to call up big George Thrower from the Div 3 Clones team who filled in nicely on our backline. George plays pretty much for every team in Langley and at 43 (Sorry George) thats frikken amazing.

Chilliwack keeper made an amazing save on a power header that was basically buried and kept them in the game late.

Guess thats Chilli's first point... glad to give it to them, err.. glad they earned it.

They obviously signed some new players or had some prems out because there were 6 guys there I didn't know and who were not on the roster.... Good for them.

Cheers.
SUB.

This is setting up as TheRob vs. Dude. It has been highly anticipated for nearly two full seasons now. Yes TheRob, with us losing in the Cup yesterday, it pretty much assures my appearance in our final Cat league game.

It'll be the battle of the ages...four eyes vs. knee brace...age (you're old) before beauty (I'm damn good looking)...no speed vs. less speed...

At last- the clash of the titans has arrived. Bring your little dog Yoda, too.

Promises, promises. I’m going to kick you and make you cry. And your little dog, too.

After that, I'm going to take Mrs. TheRob and her cracking arse back home with me. Don't worry...she wants that.

This isn't just a meaningless game anymore...it's about you, and me.

You had to bring the missus into it didn't you. Don't make me angry Dude, you won't like me when I'm angry.

My bitch Yoda is going to slap you all over Hammond like the little whore that you are. Not even Suburbanator will be able to save you. It's going to be ugly. Leave Mrs. Dude and the kids at home. I don't want them to see this.

Prediction: Don't take this the wrong way. GEU 7 - 0 Langley. All because Dude pissed me off.

Can’t get it up? Listen Vaggie, I’m God’s personal testing subject for natural viagra, I swear. Also, when she said hello, she was really saying, “Take me to that stud, Dude.”

The only thing that scares me about Yoda is the very real possibility he’ll bite me on the ankles, and even then he’ll have to jump. I think I’ll bring a rolled up newspaper and just whap him on the nose every time he nips. Bad Yoda. Bad.

1st Prediction: Langley 18, GEU –1 (for being so damn ugly).

2nd Prediction: GEU wives leave with Langley boys. Don’t worry, we have plenty of room in the beds of our trucks, and most of us have bungie cords.

1st of all, this scenario would entail the CAT team actually ASKING you to play...LOL, but would that be a CALL UP, or a RELEGATION? I mean after all which teams better?

Lol Just joking dude.... You have been a great addition to both our Langley Clubs and I would be pleased to play you vs. THEROB, though last time we played THEROB we only needed to provide a ball shagger to mark him as he was shooting field goals, or maybe that was Yoda...shite I don't remember... I just remember some BAD reffing giving us the tieing goal with about MINUS 1 minute left in the game.
