JAGS

Gee thanks. We scored early and then missed a great many chances, and you could just feel it coming...with about 15 left they scored on a rebound off of a 25 yard one hopper off of the wet grass and they evened it up, but it should have been way out of reach by then. Early season loaning outs, non-attendance and truancy so far hurting us. Im not holding my breath re Friday night either. Paul Ward had another strong game.

Good results for Sapp and WFC, Power Rankings staff note...

Peter:

6-0?

And you scored one?

Was their keeper missing?:D

No luck for us as we dropped our 2nd 1-goal loss against PCOV B. The boys played quite well, dominating possession, but couldn't finish in a Nevada brothel with $1000 bills in their hands...

What kind of shape is Hillcrest (centre field) in lately? We have a date with the Bombed Ass-kicked there next weekend...

Trece, their keeper actually made quite a few fine saves to keep it down to single digits. The boys were just hungry on the day and they only had 1 sub as well which didn't help their cause. They tried to play a funny offside trap as well...at least a couple of them were.

Enjoy Hillcrest Center for as long as you can (it's in great shape right now) 'cause soon it will be an ice rink or a library or something.

Re: [VMSL Masters 2006] September Banter and Results

Usually a tie is nothing to start being proud about .. but after a
a 5-1 Beating on by Columbus and our first year in Premier
(hopefully more )
a 1-1 tie to WV is something to take and hopefully build upon..

Sir M is right that it should/could have been put out of reach
early ... but with alot of non-stop work ethic and working smarter to build up.. we went after our own opportunities
with a couple of new faces (Seens and Wyme)
We to should/could have put the game out of reach in the
second half with three or four chance's

Sure is fun to play againest quality players ...looking forward
to a hard game next weekend againest the Rovers
Registration was good money spent

Re: [VMSL Masters 2006] September Banter and Results

Finally back from Grande Prairie for a chance to sit down and report in, and first off definitely disappointed in both JAGS'and Sir M's weekly report. No wonder the uninspired play -- no apparent team building excercise through Saturday night... took in the game, Richmond played quite well, could hear Sir M's teeth grinding before finally putting back in big PD to shore up an obvious Achilles heal. Almost left it too late -- Richmond came close to pulling it off with some inspired forward play. Big Mario with all the credit on the WVFC goal -- ball dropped out of geosynchronous orbit right onto the forward's foot.

Missed the first half of the Wickham/Surrey U tilt, arriving back in town with Wickham leading 1-0 at the half. Scramble off a corner kick, I understand. Second half got a little loose in the centre and left IF with enough time to finesse a 25 yarder over the head of the keeper for a pretty nice looking goal. Couldn't mount any kind of possession forward to get them turned around, and at the death finally cracked for a late goal. MM took off on an early run and managed to beat an off side call, then cut it back across from the end line for an easy tap in.

Tough way to lose a point, but SU looked and played well. Only on the park for the last 15, but could tell right away that the intensity was on a different level (far more intense than in Executive Class, at least.)

Better knock back a few Espresso before the Inter game Sunday morning if I am going to keep up this year. Then again, they're Italian, it's probably all skill, right?

J:

Definitely all skill. And SCK's posting abilities...

Actually, you just need more Saturday training. Dennis said so. And we all know he's always right...

It is true, we are all desperately short of plinking time, we'll work on that this week.

Week 3:

PCOV-WV: At best a tie for Sir M's boys.

Richmond-Sapp: Sapp. Most improved team thus far.

Inter-Wickham: Inter, unless they take Wickham lightly.

Westside-SFU: Westside over a struggling SFU side.

Surrey/VFF: MOTW. Tie on guts.

Columbus/Metro Ford: Columbus at home will win this one.

WVFC 2, PCOV 1. Sir M 0 for 1 thus far on this week's picks. A pleasantly surprising gutsy performance for the 12 man WVFC side, Besty with one and Ken Harrris with another, both very nice goals. PCOV got one back with about 3 mins left. MOTM was Besty, and little spadapeep looked a lot like his old self bouncing around everywhere and causing lots of trouble for PCOV...well refereed by Docherty.

SCP keep your phone on tonight I will call you if you win the five grand in the BIG WVFC draw...or...if Danny shows up to play poker...or...if I need a ride home to go see the lovely Mrs. Sir M after doing about a 12 hour shift down at Ambleside...

Otherwise it will be another in a series of lonely walks of shame after spending the night in the guest room...:)

Re: [VMSL Masters 2006] September Banter and Results

Firemen 1-1 BRM

An unlucky/dodgey PK call 20 minutes in led to a 1-0 Firemen lead at the half. Good game with both teams enjoying spells of possession. We were lucky to have 11 on the pitch though after our player kicked their player in the face. Of course his back was to the player and he was just trying to hook the ball over his own head but the ref always has the final interpretation

Second half we pressed a bit more. Firemen countered well. About 5 minutes from the end, the ref made a bonehead non-call. If you make that call in the first half going one way, you can't yell play on going the other way

The ref was the youngest person on the pitch and I thought it was pretty funny when he walked up to one of our guys and pulled out the red just to show it to him - I call it the Mauricio Move. :D

Anyways, we tied it up in the last 2 minutes.

Very enjoyable game, hope the rest of the year the games are the same. Just a different ref who was dodgey for both teams.

Cheers,

~Regs.

Inter 2 Wickham 1

Good working team, Wickham. We scored in the first few minutes off a great header from DC. Then, they countered quickly and scored off a turnover.

We were able to score in the last five minutes off another great cross to a "lone" Paolo who put it in.

Nice group Coleman. I hope your espressos were enjoyed.

Back at Hastings to face Peter's old team?? It will be a good battle after losing to them in the B.C.'s late last year.

Re: [VMSL Masters 2006] September Banter and Results

It was a good game - I think we clearly lost the win rather than SU getting the tie. No finish from 12 yards on three occasssions including one over the bar from 4 yards out. Ref was a bit young but called it even for both sides. SU forwards basically shut down - only two quality chances and the goal was a clear foul with the scorer giving Chuckle a two handed push. Anyway - good game on a great day - should give the concession ladies a ticket to Edmonton.

Re: [VMSL Masters 2006] September Banter and Results

Rare start between the pipes, somehow managed to dodge the dreaded tea cup on the day, always a danger back there on Wickham. Maybe the extra concentration on plinking Saturday afternoon did help -- good call Trece.

Lots to like about the game: great park, sunny warm morning, and some good football -- just would have been a little more enjoyable if we didn't give up a late goal again. Rats.

Definitely have to find a little more edge to our game to start picking up some points. Double espressos this Friday night.
