Philly would have grabbed Andre Racicot if they thought it would have helped them in the playoffs. Anyone making as much money as these guys pull in are going to be questioned if they are not winning. These people carving Luongo now are probably the same ones that were begging and pleading for the Nucks to sign him to a big long term contract after so many years without a real #1. I think him being Italian has something to do with it........

TA

Shouldn't that be for the FVSL Premier Thread? ;)

I would like to think this was the case, but it clearly is not. Even if we had won game 7 last year there would still be people calling for Schneider after any bad goal let in by Luongo. Just look what happened in the Olympics. Before they started he wasn't good enough to carry the load for Canada. After Brodeur faltered, Roberto stepped in and they won gold . . . but that was only because we had the best team and had nothing to do with Luongo. I'm still not sure how such a terrible goalie that cracks under pressure didn't choke away a gold medal overtime game, by why use logic when it is so much easier to just toss Lou under the bus.

this post couldnt be more wrong...

Team 1040 had a caller today named Franco who was so worked up about Luongo it sounded like he was shaking...I was laughing so hard. It was 7:30 and this guy was on the verge of a jammer.

Ha! He called again about 10 minutes ago :).

How can you trade him? Who needs a goalie for that money? Whatever happened to Bryant Reeves anyways?

First how many of those goalies on that list are available? Second how many cups and gold metals do these goalies have? How many finals have they been to? How many of these goalies are in markets that every move they make they are scrutinized? I have had Lundquist in my hockey pools and at times he looks awefull. I have seen Miller shite the bed in games. How many NHL games has Reimer played in either the regular season or the playoffs? Fans in Vancouver look at a goalie that is hot against Vancouver assume this is the way they always play and think they never have bad games. Are there better goalies than Lou yes but he can be a pretty goalie at times and we just need him playing with confidence at the right time of year and booing him isn't going to help. Lets face it he is our goalie for the next 5 to 6 years get used to it.

I dont know if this was directed at me or not? But you dont need to convince me.. I am a huge Luo fan.

I agree fans around are the biggest band wagon jumpers....once the playoffs start and they finish top 3 in the league again everyone will jump on board.....

Luo to have 16 shutouts in row this playoff run then Cory will take over next season has luo let in a goal come pre season

Jason Botchford has a good article on Luongo in the Province today. With all the shite goalies have to put up with in Vancouver, it's a wonder anyone wants to play here. What goalie haven't we chewed up and spit out over the last 20 or so years?

Troy Gamble. :D

I just don't get the venom for our goalies at all. Yes it's disappointing when Lui lays an egg, but I don't hear boo's for the Sedins or Burrows when they play like garbage (Like they did the other night) or Edler, who was probably the worst player on the ice Tuesday.

What a player makes on any given year to year as pay is irrelevant when you are talking about value for money is cap-parity league. The Cap Hit is what should be considered. Both the Twins have a higher cap hit than Lui does and Kesler's hit is just 300k less.

I wonder if the same fans saying, "ya but he's making 10M this year and should play better!" Will be saying "What a steal Lui is at 3.38" in the '18/'19 season.... I highly doubt it...they will be whinging for all to hear about how we have a goalie on the backside of his career who is 39 years old having a hit of 5.3 getting paid 3.38... and it doesn't even matter at all.

I'd argue the only teams getting as good or better value for money than the Nucks on their keeper are the Pens and the Preds.

Luongo has over 60 million reasons to play in Vancouver. Boo him or loo him, he will make that money and we can do nothing about that.

By the way, are the fans supposed to "pump his tires" constantly, even when he has bad games!? He was obviously upset that Thomas did not "pump his tires" during the Stanley Cup finals and maybe because of that mentality Canucks did not win the Cup. By the way, Thomas did it for Bruins, he stood up on his head every time (all 7 games actually) and the problem that the fans in Vancouver have with Luongo is that, so far, he got outplayed by the opposing goalie every time when it really counted.

Anyway, he is still one of the 5 top goalies in the league, there is no question about that, but he is mentally very fragile. The opposition can easily get into his head whenever it really matters so for Canucks it is great that they have Schneider ready to take over in that case. But, in that case, you have to have a coach who is ready to make such a decision and AV is not that type of the coach, he will stick with Luongo, and then we will start another thread like this one - "Trade Luongo and fire AV"!

If I was Lu's advisor, I'd tell him to not talk to the media and turn into a total recluse.

Fans think they know the players and they don't. Sean Avery is made out to be some kind of a super villain and he's not.

The media scumbags and maggots ( ;) ) are the conduit to the fans and are able to spin things any way they want, often times to wind people up and to sell advertising etc.

Luongo is his own worst enemy when it comes to perception of him. he tries to be media friendly and they turn on him at every opportunity.

How is it that Blake Price can have an objective view on the entire game Tuesday night, yet those tickle-pals Bmac and Taylor will spend the entire afternoon show on Luongo... it wasn't Lui that didn't score on one of the 8 PP's that night... It wasn't Lui that coughed up the puck for the 5 or 6 odd man rushes for the Rangers in the last ten minutes...

Just today he made himself available to the media to show off his new mask, saying: "It's two weeks late, like my game"

He makes himself too available and these retards that think they have some sort of pseudo relationship with these star athletes take all of this way too far.
