2000 TTP Tokens to the winner, good job!

On topic:

Any news from super secret BC Soccer committee devoted to exploring a D3 league in BC? Are there any donuts left?

Rumour: Someone from the FVSL is drooling at this new league GM position.

Rumour 2: 6 applications have already been submitted, all playing out of Newton.

Rumour 3: League will be sponsored by Adidas

Rumour 4: PCSL will cease operations

Rumour 6: Somehow, someway, this will cause problems with TSS Rovers FC and a lawsuit will be launched

Cheers,

Regs.

Who, pray tell, would be drooling over this from the FVSL? :D

I guess the intention is for this to be comparable to League 1 in Ontario, am I right? How many teams, then how does this fit within the CPL format? Possible promotion / relegation system?

Prediction #7: someone from the VMSL tries to find a way to sabotage this, with the battle cry, "We already have a Tier 3 league!"

Yeah two different topics being mixed up here.

1. C-League is Duane Rollins code-name for a D2 league he claims is in the works possible backed by CSA and CFL types.

2. BC D3 is an idea apparently being spoken about in dark corners by unnamed parties that would create something new in BC similar to (and possible eventually connected with) League One Ontario and the Quebec league.

Going back into 2015 in this thread is interesting...

So, we have The Highlanders and TSS Rovers playing PDL, so this new Tier3 league is supposed to be on equal footing to that, correct? So, essentially 10 teams playing at that level in BC? And this is supposed to be "Semi Pro"? By Semi, what do they mean? Meaning, obviously no pay-to-play, and certain players receive some form of salary, or stipend per match? Where is this money supposed to come from?

Then, potentially 2 CPL teams?

I see the need, but we also have the BCPL, which is now running, but IMO speaks to Reg's earliest issue back in this thread, which was the identification process. The players fee system in BCPL needs to be abolished before "we" (as I suspect a lot of the money this Tier3 league will come out of the BCSA charging extra fees) invest in a Tier3 league.

Interesting breakdowns on the revenue projections. Can 8 teams come up with 150 season tickets each? I doubt it. Can a couple? Sure. Surrey, certainly, if you get buy-in from the Indian community. Really, you could argue Surrey could support two teams on it's own.

My question is on the demographics...I don't doubt the numbers, but here's my citique, I guess...

~Vancouver should really state "Metro Vancouver", then be broken down into regions. I.e.: why have Walnut Grove shown as an outlier on its own? And, isn't White Rock still part of Metro Vancouver (this I actually don't know).
~If the document is going to be as useful as possible, it makes sense to break it down more (Metro van into regions), and correlate those numbers w/ registrations.

The financial plan is simplistic, but maybe that's all it needs to be.
This is more than we ever saw from the old BCPL that was proposed years back and gassed by VMSL members. Back then, the plan lacked transparency, this appears not to lack transparency. That's a good first step, because we are all members and stakeholders in this.

If they really figure a season can be run on $64,900, then maybe it doesn't take many deep pockets, just a few willing donors.

Haha...see above, already commented! Have not yet read the technical doc.

If I'm an applicant, the first thing I look at is the bottom line, and determine if those expenses are realistic and achievable. Notice what is missing there? Player compensation. They are calling this "Semi Pro". Where is the "Pro" part?

Could player comp be buried in the game day costs? They've estimated stadium fees at $400, that leaves $7600.00....

Edit: they also have facilities costs outside game day. Game day must be player comp, based on being named to the roster, appearance, and possibly production.

I actually give it a chance, but it would depend on the relative ability of the less obvious teams being able to make a go.

Again, I think Surrey could support 2. Easy. Surrey United, and Temple, done.

Obvious ones....
Coquitlam
Abby
Vancouver

Maybe...
Nanaimo?
North Van?
Langley?
Maple Ridge (because they have not 1, but 2 new stadiums coming...)?

Come up with the ability to finance $70K / year. Most big clubs could figure that out, and a fundraising plan around that. It would take some energy, for sure....

Just trying to get up to speed here...so the intent of this league is to be a bridge between the current HPL (U13-U18) league and the Whitecaps and National Team? Where does it sit on the pathway with respect to the USL PDL? Presumably players would come out of HPL, go to this RT3 league, then USL PDL, then to fully professional soccer?

So are we expecting the new applicants will mostly come from the current eight HPL teams? Would make sense for them to be interested in having a team in this new league for continuity.

It seems like an association with the HPL franchises in some manner would be the best path to success.

It's not semi-pro, it's actually the opposite... players pay an average of $2000 each for the season and get a free shave at Tommy Guns. EA Sports gift cards for 50% off FIFA 2017 to game MVPs.

Where do I sign up?

:)

Not semi-pro. But trying to develope Pros. OK. Then I don't get it.

Better hope Temple / Khalsa don't get a franchise.....

I have to give the members of this site some major kudos. I've been off for awhile, come back on and read the comments specific to this thread going back two years. The relevance and insight is incredible. Well done TTP'ers! Once again you show that this site offers and array of sophistication levels ranging from the appreciation of mild porn to some comments facing some of the most complex issues in our society.

I'm not sure what is going to play out with this league. The substance behind is it's a standards based league. There was a demand for this and the governing body is trying to satisfy this. More work for me on my end to try and keep up with the Jone's. Fact is that some groups are more aptly ready to meet the criteria in a short time frame than others.

Regs and his predictions are soooo interesting.
