JAGS,

Well said. I have had no pints and I agree with you 100%. As Scott said this morning at training, had he witnessed that in any other venue the offending party would have walking out of there in handcuffs. To try to deflect blame to the paramedic is, frankly, a pretty big insult. Period. Enough said.

Good news though the big guy dropped by training this morning and he is feeling better, even went out with his wife last night (still has headaches though) :( . He is focussing on being fit enough to maybe tee it up in the following weeks. :wa:

But I am now enlightened as to the possible causes of the "Sir M sorry can't make training I have a stomach problem" call from JAGS this A.M. ;)

Sir M,

I am not proud to admit, but the stomach problems were not alcohol induced. Sure wished they were........ Spent all of Saturday and Sunday running shuttles between the bedroom and the crapper.
I am considering it pre-cup final training and a Spring weight loss program having dropped about 10lbs in two days. Way better than Aitkins or South Beach. "Nothing in and lots flowing out = great weight loss" ......... however, I do not recommend it ...... especially on a long weekend.
Back on Topic - looking forward to getting back at it on Thursday night with Cup Final #1, and then I guess this weekend is the tournament. Any word if the grass fields are closed, would it be moved to turf or cancelled. If cancelled, could cup final #2 vs. Melons be slotted in during the weekend?

JAGS :D

I am hearing from my PAU friends that the BC'S don't go until April 17 so we may be able to do the other final on the April 10 weekend if thats the case.

The April 17 date would be better for us as I have been advised that both Tommy P and Denis should be available by then....maybe even Pens. Also Alan Easton has been given the green light apparently :wa:

Bad news is #10 has had a bit of a relapse :(

On another topic, caught the Scotland vs Italy game while you were on the commode on Saturday. Scotland actually looked decent, both Italy's goals were on cracker set pieces, reminded me a bit of my cracker in the Squamish tournament. The Scots looked good in their change strip, Lynn Valley Falcons (circa 1968) goldy-orange over black and black (and I am not talking about Dicken_Siders last threesome). :p

Sir M... I believe the last threesome was at a lovely location you may know as the Cedar Cottage...(No, not The Human Chests Pub) But the Cedar Cottage otherwise known as the AntiFan's Tree fort. AntiFan may be Lurking there tonight for your match against Melons... :bronco:

Kilby Cup Final:

It was nice to see so many people out at Confederation considering the weather: cold, windy but at least it was raining out. It was going to be a test this evening for the two time holders and league champs as Peg's three top scorers, Brolly, Jua and Mike Findlay, with a combined 53 goals between them this year in league and cup competetion, were either out due to having had their eggs scrambled a few weeks back or just being given the evening off. As well, Graeme Slee (who picked up a hip pointer going down a waterslide I am serious :bronco: ) and Hilder were last minute scratches. Conway was late..we will find more about that later and Tommy P, Pensato, and captain Acilli are a week or two from coming back. Sir M was visibly concerned: this rain and wind would surely play havoc with his stylish Iranian sculpted coiff.

On to the match: Peg dominated early as it seemed Malones were giving the champs too much respect. Steve Hillier banged in a cracker volley right on 20 minutes, and things were pretty much done at that point. Malones tried to lay back, soak up pressure...and hope to counterattack which is a difficult strategy to successfully employ when down by a goal. At 55 minutes, Besty absolutely hammered a dipper (not a 40 yarder this time ) past an at sea Malones keeper only to have it once again carom off of the framework. The Malones goaltender made a nice stop on another dipper, this time Jim Easton's set piece, minutes later.

Final: 1-0 Peg. I thought the scoreline seriously flattered Malones. I also thought the 14 man Peg side looked at bit tired near the end but from my viewpoint the only way that Malones was going to score this eve would be on a set piece and they hardly got any corners, and their set pieces are something they can work on at the next 20 person training session.

PS No one on our side has even seen the cup since last year...

Sir M,

if you have misplaced the cup, you might want to ask former BC Lions headcoach Greg Mohns if he has seen it.

I believe he has a history of pinching soccer cups. Especially cups wielded by Nations Cup winning Irish squads.

OK this is a bit late to jump in on but your 14 man side was matched with our 14 man side so I'm sorry you were a little tired at the end. You seem to also forget me hitting the post with your keeper standing there like a deer in headlights.

Not too many 20 man practices these days. We're lucky to have 11 healthy players for any game right now.

See you on Sun. Where did you disappear to last night? You came in the pub and then you were gone.........didn't like the company of me and Canto :D

League Cup Final: Pegasus 4 Malones 0.

Goals by Graeme Slee, Jua, Conway (the substitute midfielder who waved aside PK specialist Jua to then hammer a penalty kick onto 15th street, earning him a spot on the sidelines), and Mike Findlay, who could have had quite a few.

Good to see Bro able to come out and watch...

PS Biggs I left and went to the QC on Thurs, the bird I was with wanted to sit on the patio and the BB's was full.

Last Friday at the Burnaby Lake WCOTSL's final games, there was a rumour circulating the after Firemen-Miloni game that Pegasus (your team) will be part their league next season. Some of the firemen/westside guys were very pleased with the news.

Any true of this?

Or it was just the "coffee" making them to talk about something?

Gerry, I am not surprised by the fact that the Wside and FF players were so interested. The Peg side is pretty well represented by Westside alum and Firefighters. Sorry I left the game at the half, I hear Luch showed up and there were lots of fireworks on both fields!

On the day I thought Peg deserved the away win, but PCOV are a quality side and the Portugese buns, Chorizo, red wine and Bafanas after the game are what its all about! Looking forward to playing them and all the other West Coasters next year!

That is the confirmation of the rumour.

Well Sir M we'll see if you can make the provincial next season or maybe we'll see you and ur peg boys going back to N.S. Coaches leagues, a move that wouldn't surprise anyone

An interesting thought, I would say, what happens if Pegs DO NOT make the provincials next year......maybe better to be a big fish in a little pond ;) .......just a thought.

Lupo & Gerold,

I know that Sir M and Jags usually field these posts but, here are my thoughts. If next year, we (Peg) cannot win one of the 6 BC spots, then simply, we do not deserve to be in the provinicals. If we were to win a spot, it would be through tough matches each and every weekend. Matches that would better prepare a squad for a good run at the cup. Looking forward to the WCOTSL.

Interesting. When the 'Lomas left the NSCL for the WCOTSL they had no choice but to start in Div 3 (WCOTSL).Consequently many players left the club as they didn't want to drop to that standard. This was a rule that could not be broken for anyone(apparently). Just wondering how Peg managed to go strait into the top flight (or have they). Have you guys joined/merged with another club...just wondering...
