Skip,

Mathematically possible, but practically not. Nine games played and we have given up 13 points out of 27. That is the halfway mark and most definitely not championship material. I admire your optimism, and as a player that should be your focus, but reality says different. As a coach, you must never lose sight of what is real, never kid yourself or your players. Sometimes the truth hurts, but at least it is the truth rather than some made up fukcing fantasy or wishful thinking. In my opinion, for what is worth, a team will need 44 points this season to win the League.

Skip to answer your question about cards I had to sit our game last night but the timing couldn't have been better as I was going to be out of town anyways :D. After reading GOWI's comments I can only say that at times a few of our boys pay to much attention to the officiating and need to do exactly what your name implies. I was like that (more) in my younger years but have learned since my 7 yellow season

As for the match, well done boys and let's hope we can build on this and dig our way out of the bottom half. Some unexpected results this week for sure but it just opens up the league and makes a top four finish anyones for the taking.....Even Crafty's boys :p , for a very skilled and well rounded team I can see why your so frustrated.

As I get ready for my fifth consecutive night out in Montreal alls I can say is this city f'in rocks....and the birds aren't bad either ;)

Controversial comments by Get on with it. We as players whine about the refs on here but rarely does somebody get called out by name. Not sure a referee should be singling players out, as on first thought it questions his professionalism, as we do in the end pay for the service. Anyways, my two cents. Comments.

Not sure I identified anybody here for whining? Flopping yes, whining no. As a team (no particular player) comments made, Yes! How many times have I read posts like the worst ref ever, should go back to youth, or doesn't have a clue about advantage, etc? Only to be followed in the next few posts with names or guesses at his name. You want refs to improve and get the calls right. Well, we refs want you players to also get the same stuff right. As the rule book states, "in the opinion of the referee". Seems to me there's only one in the middle of the park. All I was trying to imply in my original post is that we don't want the flopping and all the other gamesmanship.

However, I'm of the opinion that refs should be as impartial as possible. That's why in Pro leagues, you seldom ever (never) hear refs talk publicly about players or teams after a game. If they do, it's likely the last time they'll ref that team's games.

Therefore, refs (like GOWI) who make such comments in a public forum are only setting themselves up in future when their judgment is questioned (rightly or wrongly) for a number of reasons: "He doesn't like us; he said so himself, and he thinks we're a bunch of whiners. Don't say a word to him or he'll card you." or "Of course the other team got all the calls! He's pals with a whole bunch of guys on their team. Look at him chatting it up with their players. After the game I guarantee he'll be hanging out with them sharing a brew from their cooler."

We are not in the Pro's so don't refer to or compare. There is a huge difference between the local Derbies and the stuff you watch on the tele. I don't know how many times I have overheard things like, "Oh Sh*t, it's that ref, keep your mouth shut." I love it because the players know what to expect and I know what to expect. Do you think that we enjoy doing games where we know it's going to be a 90 minute session of ear whipping? In my opinion any team that has had me knows what they are going to get the next time they get me. Just ask Big T? If me making comments means that I am not going to get a team that just ripped me for 90 minutes than Thank God I don't have to go through that again!

As for the "whining"....give me a break ref. Show some fricken consistency then it would'nt happen. One of their lads goes in studs up on our keeper chest height and you dont do a thing? Then late in the game of of our boys is holding the ball by the corner flag and someone goes flying in from behind sweeping his legs and you dont even talk to him????
It may not have been your first game at this level but you reffed it like it was.

You talk about the keeper getting it in his chest. Yes, I'll agree. However you forget to mention that the keeper is going to the ground to pounce on all 50/50 ball. Hardly the same as a keeper who is standing straight up and getting it in the chest. As for the play in the corner. Yeah it was late and from behind but don't you think for a second that the player in question didn't get a word. First he got the look (you know the one your girlfriend gives you when you stayed out with the boys for that extra bevy) than got the there no need of it quite, quick word. How many times have I read posts about players being upset by the big song and dance lecture?

I leave you guys with this to ponder. I have often heard that the best referees are those that you don't remember an hour after the match. Why is that? In my opinion, it is because he is simply there to keep time and score as both teams are content on playing the game and recognizing that he has allowed the game to flow, giving advantages when acceptable, calling fouls when needed, and dealing with anything else as, appropriately. If a ref was able to please both teams for the entire 90 minutes without one single word of question I would care to venture that you didn't have a ref but rather a hooker!

GOWI...it's just TTP. Don't worry about it. Besides, that LFC2 just likes to stir it up. First he calls SUFC a Div 2 squad, then he calls you a hooker who should keep his mouth shut. Or something like that.

He's just a bag of dicks anyhow.

Just classic stuff!!! ref's get called out( by name) left right and center for being inconsistent, or yapping to long etc. but when they call you out back for being a "bag of dicks" you freak out. Even if he did name names deal with it. you play fraservalley premeir its not that high of a level of soccer I know everybody thinks it is but lets not come out and compare it to professionals because really its bush league. Sure there is some talent but I emphasize some. Ref's only become impartial when you act like an ashole and bring it on yourself its human nature I guys being a prick to you, you will be a prick back. If you want ref's to get better and listen to your comments don't say one thing then a week later say the other. If somebody is flopping they should be called out take that shite back to europe where it belongs

I agree with GOWI, you can't even compare what goes on here in the valley to the pros. If we have a right to have a go at the ref then they too should have a right to have a go back. I like the fact that players who act like a twat get called out for it. 911 your out to lunch.

Cainy...I disagree. By your same logic, if a player goes ballistic and drops every F bomb there is towards the ref, then the ref should be able to drop every F bomb right back? Refs need to be above all the name calling and not do anything to compromise their impartiality, regardless if they ref in the FVSL Premier league or anywhere else for that matter.

If GOWI can't handle people questioning his refereeing in person or on this website, and finds it necessary to defend himself in every instance, for every call, while at the same time taking a poke at those who do, then he needs to get on with life and out of reffing. Refs need to be bigger and more "professional" than that. Let me know when Paul Ward starts posting his opinion of players and teams on TTP.

Sorry if I come across as defending my calls or position. That's not the intent! I am simple trying to show how the play looked in my eyes. Each person has their own opinion of what happened and how they see it. That is normal but unfortunately each view is different and angles may be different therefore painting different pictures of the exact same event. When guys post about certain calls in a match I like to get their point of view and respond (NOT DEFEND) about how I saw and why I called it the way I did. Again just trying to build some credibility so the next time you see me a call that looked a little hairy in your eyes seemed slightly different in mine and hence the no call or less than pleasing response from me (ex. chop to the leg but player plays through and good advantage gained, or two footed studs up tackle and clear advantage taken away to give caution even without serious contact.) In my second example I have given a few of these types of cards only to hear I didn't make contact or I won the ball. My response to this usually is something like " I am glad you didn't make contact because than we're looking at red or just because you win the ball doesn't make the tackle legal."

At the end of the day it's just a game and we all go back to work Monday. I am there to help the game along but more importantly I am there because I love the excitement of being involved in the game now that I can't play.

Now GET ON WITH IT!

PS - KR is an confused imbecile, its hard to be offended by a grade 2 student. Plus he plays for a team who is lower in the standings than our shitty Div 2 side. :D

Ouch but when a woman is right a woman is right. I have been held back in the second grade for the last 18 years of my life. So I have decided to quit school move out of the bog and follow Big Tina every day. Hopefully one day I will become the ultimate ttper, soccer player, makeover specialist and intellectual genius she obviously is. One game don't mean shite, you may be higher in the standings for now congratulations, but you got lucky against GEU ya still couldn't beat us.
Although i will admit I am ashamed to be lower than your shitty div 2 side. Something has got to change.
