It is quite funny

Eddie:

If this isn't a piss take by you, I can't believe that he has changed his mind again. Oh wait, yes I can.

Vince changed his mind:

* the day before the Bohemians game with the Knights;
* the day of that game when Garry Corr called him from the field after their win;
*and now today, the day the game.

Eddie, if you are Soccer City, prepare for either team as there are two more sleeps before Wednesday night for Vince to change his mind again.

Maybe someone got to him with the logic of 1 v 4, 2 v3.

Eddie, if you are with Soccer City, you haven't played either side. Take it from us (Sapperton) as we played them both 3 times in 12 games that both teams are equally strong and it really is a toss up who you get.

I hope Gary Corr gets a phone call because he is planning to show up Thursday at Reeve Park.

I'd rather not play Bohemians as there are several Sapperton Premier guys on that team and well, last time, a wee problem involving three of the Sapperton guys that led to more red cards (2) in that game than my CAT team had in 4 years in the VMSL.

No matter who plays who, these games will be quality games played by quality teams.

I agree that they are both equally strong teams. I am just happy that we get to play someone else than the Razorbacks and Furry for the eighth time.

semifinals

Reccos/Eddie,

Couldn`t agree with you more about this summer league...What a shite show. Does anyone know WTF is going on. Maybe you don`t want to win to get into the finals...Maybe the finals will be the winner of the first game vs the loser of the second....THIS LEAGUE FORMAT IS A JOKE
Anyhow it is good to see that the top 4 teams made it through. I don`t think there was much doubt judging by results throughout the season.
As for who soccercity, be ready for both squads they are both very good and Reccos is correct in choosing one to play would be difficult. This will be your most difficult game of the season to this point.
Especially since your side was a cakewalk and not much in the way of competition.
Sap vs either (bohemians/SA) should be a great match as the bohemians sap rivalry has existed for the last few years with some great games including last years final with 4-3 result for bohemians. (not to mention about 3 or 4 quality goals from both squads)
Sap Vs SA will also be some good blood as the teams have a new born rivalry in playing each other over the summer with their last meeting being an entertaining one, to play and watch.
Good luck to all remaining!!!!

SASC 3 - Sapperton 2

Tom Loewe, 17 years old of Sapperton Rovers summer team and Burnaby Canadians youth team remains in hospital as of this moment with a crushed in head above the eye and concussion. After leaving the field via ambulance and spending the night at Eagle Ridge Hospital violently ill every hour on the hour, and getting both x-rays and a CAT scan, he was transferred this morning before noon by ambulance to Royal Columbian to see a specialist.

The operation will likely be within a week if not sooner depending on the specialist examination for today.

Not a good day for this league, Sapperton or the boy and his family. He was scheduled to go to Germany August 1 as he has hopes of making the pros there someday following his graduation from grade 12 next school year.

The player was sucker punched partway through the first half.

Sorry to hear that, Reccos. There are fcuking idiots in every league and I hope this guy gets what he deserves. Perhaps an assault charge would do the business? Did anyone see it? What did the ref do? Who was the cnut who did, so his name gets exposed? Questions that TTPers need to know.

Sapperton Incident...

The player in question is a well know player in the VMSL and TTP'er. I hope for his sake there is an apology from him. No excuse for his behaviour, unprovoked - one of, if not the worst cheap shots I have ever seen, I have played soccer for over 25 years. The man in question should be ashamed and if that ws me as the victim I would press charges. Inexcusable.
Quote from the player while we shaked hands with SA after the game from the aforementioned player "...at least I hit him". Class... real class - A$$hole.

Sapperton Incident...

Captain, at least 6-10 guys saw the incident in question. He received a yellow card from the ref. The ref didn't see the incident but gave him a yellow. How could he miss it, I don't know. The ball was being played to this player in question. How then can a ref give him a yellow if he saw nothing? Go figure.

If that many guys saw the incident, then it shouldn't be a problem pressing charges. This is the only way to deter future animalistic behaviour. Simple as that. I now know who it was. Disgraceful.

Update on Thomas Loewe

Tom was released from hospital late this afternoon but will be going back for surgery as soon as he can get a bed and the swelling reduces enough. The surgery will be a major problem at RCH according to the neurosurgeon who examined him today as they are booked for a long time.

Don't want to say too much right now other than to say the CAT scan showed not only the crushed bones above the eye, but the bleeding was a very, very close to the brain. The concussion accompanying the crushed bones will take the usual time to heal.

I doubt he will be playing soccer in Germany this summer as he had planned as recovery will take some time and the Aug 1 plan will likely head out without him.

I am not sure he should do it or if he will feel up to it, but he may try and catch the first German game at the Nations Cup tomorrow as he had looked forward to playing this weekend. He was still puking at lunch today, just as he was going to RCH by ambulance.

Thanks for all the calls, etc. Both Tom and his family were surprised and very appreciative of the concern everyone from the League to other teams and players from all over have for his well being and quick recovery.

Tommy Loewe Update

Tom was operated on for two hours yesterday to repair the bone and clean out the pieces above the eye and put in a titanium plate. There is still a hole but it apparently will grow back over.

He is now at home recovering from what has been a horrible ordeal for him and his family. His summer of training with the youth side of the Berlin pro team is gone and he can only look forward to playing again in the fall. The young guy, 17 in January, is with Colin Elmes Total Soccer, his youth team, our summer team (Sapperton) and some other organization. This is a good young player who lives and breathes the game.

His goal is to play professional level soccer in Germany and, as luck would have it, he was born there and came to Canada in his first year so this makes it easier to play there.

The league sent the family a real nice letter expressing their disappointment and get well wishes. This and a lot of phone calls, the TTP posts, etc have meant a lot to Tom and his family. It is never good to get a serious injury like that and injuries do happen in summer at times including Mike Morris (achilles and no one kicked him) this summer and Dan Nichols (ACL and he also fell on his own) but it is particularly worse when it is needless, senseless and unprovoked. Not to mention to such a young person playing with the men.

Haven't heard who won the cup final but for Sapperton it was a case of who cares after what happened to the young guy in the semi-final. I couldn't be bothered to attend to pick the trophy for winning our side. Bigbag: did you go to get yours for winning the overall league and one for winning your side?? They did have trophies.

Sid, what happened in the final??? Very quiet from all sides of that match.

I've heard from 2 sources that the final was an excellent game, we didn't pick up our trophy because we didn't know it would be presented.

On to the Winter season.....................Surrey hear we come!!:wa:
