Thanks sofaking and Ballkicker. I think with our team this year, we attack the flanks hard so this should be a good tilt.
I know of only a few teams that use A players and WFC is not one of them. They will hopefully be strong as I would love to see Nk fizzle fast.

Blaze, you guys had a good squad in cat this year. I'm looking forward to a stronger showing fromt he top teams from cat A.

Gurps, looking forward to this weekend to see the healthy team. As for Signmaster, they knocked us out of the quarter finals last year. They're big and fast. I really believe that we lost to them due to our aging backilne. They simply walked around us. We were a different team last year and lost some good players to the A team. Our backline, however, has been revamped due to the Masters league yanking the geezers from us. We're sportin' a much younger and faster line up.

Can't wait to gt this show on the road. This is what the year all comes down to.

I am looking forward to see the upsets. What undesrved teams can come up with winning game plans. ie last year PGU/Unicorns knocking off the likes of S. Temple, Rino C, Bingers. Any picks on a dark hoarse team.

I said this last year(when i played with PGU). Div 2 is div 2 and I believe anyone can knock off another with hard work and a little luck.

The thing I like about playing CAT A this years allignment, most the teams I believe would finish top 4 in div. 2, it is a better quality league. I am not saying other top div. 2 teams couldn't win CAT league. I am sure they could. I look forward to get this started and hopefully City Rangers don't shite the bed like we have done on many occations this year.

The dark horse team I am picking are Lobbans "C".So far out of the early predictions not one person has predicted them to beat Sporting Punjab "B" in the first round. I am willing to bet my unspent Rupies that Lobbans "C" takes this one convincingly!!

I Havn't yet taken time to predict yet, I do believe Lobbans C could be a Darkhoarse aswell. Especially if zee German (my partner in terror from childhood) Captin Morgan shows some talent from the good old days. Dunbar Bisons, house league.

THe cup is then time to see what the diffeence is between Div 2 and CAT. I know when we (the Blaze) won it a few years ago 3 of the 4 semi finalists came from one side of the Div 2 (c i think). Cliff Ave, us and Richmond Cougars. The only tough game we really saw was in the semi final and final against teams we had played twice already that year. It was silly in the sense that we played some shitty shityy teams leading up to that point and it showed us how unfair it was that we got stuvk in the same Grouo as Cliff Ave that season as we would have won any of the other Div 2 sides that year. Cliff ave had 1 tie and 1 loss that year, one loss was Cup final to us and the tie was a league game. NExt year we were promoted fairly easily.

It looks like the same thing is happening in a few of the sides this year. they need to make a better attempt at balancing them at some point or the other.

This has been the million dollar question that has no clear-cut answer. It's a luck of the draw really,b/c teams shift divs every year. I believe teams that finish 3-5 in the standings shift over. Going by the standings and teams, next year will be a more of a balance in Div2. If you take the current standings and shift teams from 3-5 over, it seems like more of a balance and tighter promotion races. It does eventually balance itself out, but it takes a good 3 years for that to happen.

Anybody know where the "B" Cup Provincials are being held this year? And how many VMSL teams get to play/party in the Prov tourny?

I just checked the BCSA site www.bcsoccer.net and the B Cup (aka Men's Keith Millar Cup) shows TBA for the date and location. It should take place sometime in June.

As for the number of VMSL teams, I think it's the two cup finalists that go but I completely unsure of this. A search through last year's "B Cup" threads would probably provide the information but my computer is way too fcuking slow to bother with that right now.

Not Really. We are talking of a problem 3 or 4 years ago. Apparently it still hasn't balanced it out now. The real solution is to go Div 3 and 4 if neccessary and keep the purely social teams away from the ones that are more competetive. I realize this has been talked about in about 10 different threads in this website but that is really the end solution. (actually i would go to divisions of 10 from premier down to Div 6 if neccesary and make 3 or 4 CAT divisions. You CAT placing would be relevant to your club teams standing. ie. 10 premier teams have CAT teams there is a division. Next 10 from the 1st to 2nd division make CAT 2 etc.)

the finalists normally go to the B cup. It's a pretty bush tournament to be honest. A lot of teams are short players and a lot of the times tyou play a friday night game and you need to travel to get there. I know when the Blaze and Cliff Ave went3 or 4 years ago to the okangan it was crazy. I was absolutley pie-eyed, passed out or in the casino trying to win the room money back all weekend other than our first game on friday night. ( After a fairly disasterous first night , i recouped all the losses and ended up being up about 1500.00 but i spent a lot of time in there tryong to make up for the first night. Never, ever get people to pay you cash for their rooms when you are staying in a hotel with a casino.) It was a zoo, i was not allowed to be subbed on to the field in our last game as the ref's had seen me drinking and that was that. What i didn't understand is they saw both teams drinking from coolers before the game and sharing "smokes". Apparently i had a drink durin the forst half and that made me inelgible. Bastards!.

Yeah the provincial B Cup is definitely in need of improvement in terms of how it is run.

Last year the Red Dragons got DQ'd at the end of the round robin for playing an ineligible player (red carded in BCSA sanctioned league), but the All Blacks who won it apparently had a player ineligible under the same conditions....

Two years ago some Van Island team called Genesis showed up with a squad that consisted almost entirely of the VMSL's AFC Leopards

I'm sure there are many more incidents that have occured and been swept under the rug by the BCSA over the past few years...

If we can get by the first round ,we have to play Signmaster, not exactly the best draw for us, but oh well, thats the beauty of the cup.

Exactly. I agree with what people are saying about having two top teams go at it first round and having 0-10 teams with a bye, but that's just the way it is

To be the best you gotta beat the best. Shouldn't matter where or when you do it.

For the B cup, the finalists go automatically, but the semifinalists usually end up getting invited as well, depending on the number of spots they decide to give to the VMSL. When we (Rmd FC) were in the cup semis 3 y.a., we couldn't make the trip but were offered a spot. The following year we went with 12 guys. mistake. It is a bush tournament, especially the friday night game. Getting to victoria in time for a game was brutal. They don't announce where it's held until mar/apr, but it's usually the first weekend of june.

Maybe if we can get more than 8-9 guys out to a game, we can make it out of the first round! Big maybe.

oh guess what - it's weight watcher with another one of his classic predictions - i predict all that cheese from the cheeseburgers you've been consuming lately has gone straight to your head....

first off - nobody from richmond has even played on/against SPH - so what you claim they said doesn't really matter.

next - all i hear is how great nk is - the majority of ttp'ers have voiced their opinion on that one.....but here is a challenge to shut you up....

nk vs sph - pick a time and place. adanac or mercer - you pick the field/time and we'll play an exhibition game - put your money where your mouth is......if your response is a typical - "we won the cup last year - blah blah blah" then safe to say you're all talk....

i'll leave the predictions to a genius like yourself......

If you somehow overcome my prediction and make it to the cup finals "The Watcher" will bet you a cheeseburger or two that NK wins. As far as having to play you hacks before then...forget about it. Wow 14-0 ........ against who anyway? If Sporting Punjab was in 2b they might be 500. Primos, JBs, Green Devils and Nomads would all lay the smackdown on you guys. If Sporting Punjab was in 2b they might be 500.

As StrictlyBusiness put it, lets set up an exhibition game with a ref and 2 linesmen. Both teams put up $1000, winner take all. Accept the offer or shut your trap. This will be the only time you get to play us because we are going to Div.1 next year and you will still be in Div.2.
