Norvan-3
Meralomas - 3

The 'Lomas got a great start and had a 2 goal lead at halftime. A 10min tally saw a corner of theirs careen off a defending Norvan player. Their 2nd goal came right before half on a goal kick that was collected by a 'Loma winger and quickly turned around for an odd man rush and the delivery into the box was slotted home.
Shitty feeling after 45mins being down a couple of goals after not playing a horrible half and given that we were playing without our starting center D and our starting mid.
Anyways...Halftime, pep talk, pull the socks up...blah, blah, blah...etc..and off we go for another 45.
The field began to tilt our way early in the 2nd half and we were rewarded with an 'Loma own goal off a cross that bounced from our player to theirs and into goal. A momentum shift that led to a tying goal and a go-ahead goal at about the 75min mark....
At about the 10min mark, the wheels on the Norvan bus started getting wobbly literally and figuratively and this opened the door for some increased pressure from the 'Lomas who began pushing for the tying goal. With less than 2 minutes to go one of the Norvan center backs had both calves lock up and was subsequently replaced with some colder legs. Sure enough, a minute later....turnover on a play we did not need, ball is pushed down the wing with said player who had entered the field unexpectedly, late on a wet rainy night, a 'Loma turns the defender and gets into the 18 and unleashes a right footed shot that finds the net. 20 sec's after the ensuing kickoff the final whistle sounds.
Both teams left the field wondering how those extra 2 points slipped away.
Home to the Bulldogs this week...still looking for that first victory.

VUFC Rangers 3 - 3 SFU

Were down 2-0 pretty quickly in this one. Got it back to 2-2 and SFU scored immediately after to go up 3-2. We scored to tie on the last kick of the game to nick a point. Some really poor goals on this night and it reflected the play in general.

Pretty foggy up the hill!

Norvan - 5
Rino-Fury - 2

Better all round effort this week as we put pressure on the opposition early. 1st goal was a nice looping through ball that caught the defense flat footed with a toe and in for the lead. 2nd was on a set piece cross that was nodded in by our tall man from the backline. A little bit later some bad luck for Rino saw another bouncing cross go in off a defender. Kudos to Rino as they kept playing and after half they were rewarded with their 1st goal which gave them a spark. They up'd their tempo and caught Norvan sitting on their laurels a bit early with a 2nd goal to change the complexion of the game. Norvan however, reset their lineup and got number 4 on a cheeky back-heel and number 5 on a deep cross that was nodded in back post for some extra insurance.

It was nice to get the 'W' and 3 points and see some better play overall. Still some improvement to be made; home to the Horses next week for a N'Shore Derby match.

Pretty accurate descript Bonefish. Probably our poorest performance this year. I was pleased we played to the end. Had we not leaked the 4th and managed 3-2 possibly we would have found another but shoulda woulda......wasn't .

We were very flat out of the gates but agree you guys were pressing early and well as a unit. We played poor but credit to the work from Norvan

KLM Alemania - Meralomas 3-1

Back to winning for KLM. We played the strongest first 20 minutes this game than any other game this season. I believe we scored around the 15th minute. Meralomas took control after that and equalized the game around the 70th minute. KLM quickly came back scoring a second goal and at this point Lomas started to push by changing to a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 formation. Unfortunately for them it opened up the game a bit and manged to get a third goal 5 minutes before final whistle. Btw it felt like it was end of November during the entire game weather wise.

Went a respectible 3-2 last week. SFU surprised me and managed a draw vs league leaders while the other surprise saw the Bby "Flying" Wolves putting the down and out Horses out to pasture!!

This week sees some good games including a couple of Derby matches on the North Shore and on the Westside.

Meraloma 1 - 2 SFU (Lomas not that strong and SFU should collect the points)
Rangers 2 - 2 Originals (in the WS derby, the 2 teams remain undefeated in a hard fought battle)
Bombastic 3 - 2 Wolves (after last weeks strong performance, the Wolves just don't have enough to contain the Bomb)
Fury 2 - 4 Alemania (a better effort than last week from Fury will keep this one close but don't think they'll take points in this one)
Norvan 4 - 2 Mules (for sister sara) (although with a couple of key player absenses for Norvan I might be eating crow after this one!!)

Yes, a surprise start by the Horses. I guess after going 57 wins, 3 losses and 1 tie in their first 3 years of existence it is time to call us Mules. With 0 wins, 3 loses and 1 tie to start the 4th year - I guess Mickster says we are done.

We, the Horses, hope to turn the tide on Friday night. We now have 2 goalies signed and many injured players coming back to the team. After struggling the first 4 weeks with 13 guys at 1st game, 13 guys at 2nd game, 14 guys at 3rd game and the 4th game we started with an out of shape, over the hill goalie (at least I can rip myself).

This week we are anticipating 19 guys to be at the match against Norvan - we could have a half decent line up.

Some good matches this week!! Good luck to all teams.

I'm assuming 13 of them at least are Norvan players? Leaving you with, what, 6 guys? Is that even legal?

I notice that those poor mules walked into Norvan's home park and came away with three points last night.

The name calling may have inspired them.

Lee and Ingo buried their chances and we did a poor job marking them. We could have had some more goals but didn't finish our chances. Originals now top of the tables with Bombastic also picking up a tie.

A good 3 points for us. Burnaby scored on their 2 shots in the first half. Thanks to West Van for the draw v Bombastic. Looking forward to playing them this weekend and then WV the weekend after!

KLM Alemania - Norvan 2-1

Norvan had a red card just before the 10' mark but manage to go up 1-0 and that's how the first half ended. Both KLM and Norvan had a red on the second half. KLM's best player and Norvan's best defender almost threw punches but thankfully calmer players came to the rescue. So KLM with 10 and Norvan with 9 for 35minutes. KLM should have dominated the rest of the game but they didn't. KLM had procession but not real chances. We manage to score 2 goals in 5 minutes towards the end as the Norvan players were getting tired. Lot's whining and bitching amongst the KLM palyers all game around but everyone was happy at the end. Norvan is a good team and should be able to do better for the rest of the season.

2 reports mashed into one...Norvan is still digging themselves down the table. It is an uphill both ways type of feeling for too many games despite good efforts.

West Van FH 2 - 1 Norvan

WV had a very competent lineup assembled on the evening. We on the other hand, were/are battling some injuries and absences. We lost 2 starters in the first 10min who had previous knocks that weren't ready. We get the first goal on an error by a defender under pressure which frustrated the WV side who had the balance of play. The 1-nil lead held until 25min into the 2nd half but a turnover led to a break and cross that was well finished. The winning goal was very painful to watch as a bouncing ball late in the game eluded a couple of our defenders and fell to a WV player who slotted it home. Mickster definitely fired them up at the wrong time given our roster woes.

Alemania 2 - 1 Norvan

Another frustrating game. Our expected 12 person roster shrunk to 11 before the match with some key bodies out of the lineup. KLM must have had 18 guys out on this sunny Sunday. As eRocco stated above a red Card at 10min was a factor but Norvan was on the ropes with the non-existent bench and some of the walking wounded on the field. When your luck is bad...it is well...bad. With a 1-0 lead that we coaxed into the second half, we had a chance to go up 2-0 on a breakaway but a very poor finishing attempt that went wide became the TSN turning point. Adding to that were the 2 additional reds that were handed out which opened up the field for Alemania to run us down further. Their tying goal and winning goal were well finished but preventable. We came close at the death to tying with a ball that was cleared off their goalmouth. A good effort but having 11 players on the day is not the way to set up for success.

Good effort from the Rangers. We were better all over the pitch, pressured well and took our chances. Unfortunately we lost a guy to a ruptured achilles right at the end of the game.
