Another enjoyable game at the bottom of the table that resulted, predictably, in a GFC loss. Shaheen were on the back foot for the first 15 minutes, but then really grew into it. They played a fabulous first half after that, and went in at half time 1-0 up. Should have been more, but the GFC keeper played a blinder. We had one cleared brilliantly off the line, GLT needed to know if it actually went in. Linesman was in a good position and made the right call, I think.

Second half was a different story as Shaheen sat back and were under the kosh for 30 mins or so. GFC created some chances and levelled the game with 20 to go. Last twenty was helter skelter and could have gone either way. Shaheen won it with a pretty soft freekick which was swung in, evaded everyone and was drilled in at the back post. Really sweet finish. Heartbreaker for us. One of those games where we merited a draw, but they probably deserved to win. An enjoyable battle of a fixture.

Shaheen have some good players, and could pose any team a problem on their day. We were expecting a bit of needle and fractiousness in this game, but the opposite was true - they were really good lads on the whole. Good ref, Sebastian, kept the game running smoothly.

Next weeks tilt against Rinos might be quite a tricky one... Gonna see if we can register a Greyhound bus...

@jackrwhelan,

Don't count yourself out so easily, you can certainly give Rino a game. Speaking of Rino, well in getting that result versus Ayjal! Game report? Wouldn't mind hearing about the Sarajevo and Van Olys fixture either.

We managed to put 4 past AC Campo, out at a decent little venue called Windsor Park. We took a 1-nil lead into halftime with after converting and early PK. No complaints by AC on the call, with Erik Olsen converting for his first goal of the year in his first game back from injury. Shortly after AC created one great chance, a chipped ball from the byline from one post to the other, saw our keeper come across his goal mouth to deny their strike on an open header, massive save. We started off the 2nd half flat, probably had something to do with our lack of subs, meaning, we had none. AC came out with a good push back trying to equalize, but we hit them on the counter at about the 60th minute mark, and that killed the game off really. From there the game got stretched and we had acres of space on the counter and notched two late tallies. AC are a decent group of lads, similar to GFC, who just get on with playing the game, but at this rate, are both certain to go back down to DIV 2 IMO.

Ajal beat Binger boys on a quickness of short passing. Binger guys tryed to go with longer passes and more air ball. Ajal took it easy heldon the ball an got the win they needed badley. Nice to see good old Punjabi soccer every so aften. Small guys with pace.
Team that could coast teams points.

GFC find new ways to have their hearts broken! Leading 2-0 against, let it slip and lost 3-2 in the last half hour.

Went 1-0 after a minute or two, good headed flick from a throw. 2-0 followed 20 mins later, good through ball and a solid finish. 2-0 at half time, didn't reflect the play. GFC had 2 shots on goal, Rinos had 15...

Second half we were coping, but Rinos made a change. Took off their big fella up top, replaced him with a quick winger and moved David Moore up front. We couldn't deal with the extra pace as our legs started to creak - loads of good running from deep and support on the flanks. Rinos got their two goals, before the game got a bit cagey again. We had a late corner, which seemed to bounce and hit a hand. Huge appeal from our lot, must say I couldn't see from goal. Really rubbing it in, Rinos took the ball straight up the other end and slotted the winner from 18 yards. Lovely finish from Dave Moore.

Can't really argue with the result, Rinos were the better side. Always stings to throw away a two goal lead, especially when you're solid enough for so long. Rinos are a quality side with pace and precision in abundance. Ali Pickett is a quality centre mid - at post match pints we decided that he was the best player in the league that we've seen.

Good luck to Rinos - lovely lads.

0-0 until about the 35th minute and 2 players went into a 50/50 tackle and the GN player broke his leg. The ref decided it was best not to continue after witnessing it and both teams agreed. It was absolutely awful to see but kudos to the Sarajevo players, coaches and fans...they were definitely a class act on the evening.

I'm sorry I asked now, that's horrible news:(

On a brighter note, Van Olys and Ayjal drew on Saturday. Anyone see that game? Was 1-1 a fair result? That coupled with the Rinos result over GFC, makes things quite tight in the top 4 at the halfway point of the season.

It was a very fast paced game, Olympics insisted on shooting from outside the box, we tried passing and getting into the box, first half was 0-0. then the lights didn't come on so we had to wait about 20min. or so till they finally came on.
2nd half Olympics scored half way through, as all our players stopped on a count of an offside call and their striker put it past our keeper. we pressed for the rest of the game and got rewarded with 15min to go, as the ball was played in the middle and our player put it in the bottom corner. We had all the possession for the rest of the game, and if it wasn't for some good saves and solid D. work we could have had the 3points.

Sorry to hear about that. Seems to be quite a few breaks this year. Was this at your home turf? Thats the same type as we have at Andy Livi... wonder if the old turfs like that offer more restriction and restraint on the joints. Newer turfs like Trillium and UBC Varsity seem to behave more like real grass...

Funny thing is that Livingstone was just redone a few years ago and should have had better turf put in. It was redone at the same time Newton was redone and the Newton fields are much better. Trillium and UBC got the better turf as well. Instead they removed the old 90's carpet and replaced it with....old 90's carpet. This is not to be confused with 70's carpets.

My guess is they did not spend much as that field will be bulldozed and replaced with Condo's to satisfy the demands of those who like living in 500 sq foot boxes and enjoy views of East Hastings.

Jack turf is not the problem. Most guys play in regular soccer boots. That's where all the ijuries come abut. Cleats are long and they plant in the turf. If the turf is went your cleats slide, if not boots grob . All depends how quicley guy turns, fast turn brings an god awafull injuries to guys knees and hips. New rurf is much better it stands up and it holds rubber palets to help the movment of players feet. Thirty plus studs truf boots will prevent 95 percent of injuries. Last five is due to player fitness or lack of.

Don't be a prick and ruin it for everyone else... posting of scores is the one sacred thing on TTP.

Well that and my hair.
