FVSL poor planning

Not happy with the way the FVSL has scheduled the Pakenham Cup to begin at the conclusion of the Premier season. That leaves 3 weeks of training and meaningless exhibition games for a number of Div 1 teams before the Pak Cup starts.

Why not start it now? With so many lit grass or turf fields available why can't multiple games be played in a week? Its what they did last year with the abundance of makeup games.

I bet coach has his lawyers filing an appeal already with the FVSL.

I disagree with your view.......for a few reasons.

1. Playing a league game, and a Cup game in the same week is a little unrealistic. Injuries, cards etc. can have a serious affect on results. The only reason this should be done, is if deadlines for Provincial Cup qualifying deem it necessary to rush the process.

2. I find it hard to muster sympathy for a team that is allowed 3 weeks to focus and train for a cup game. Irregardless of that fact that you may not have games, there should be no problem preparing.

3. I like the fact that the league and the Cup are two seperate entities this year, and are not being overlapped. I much prefer being able to focus on one, without being distracted by the other. Lets face it, Premier is "the show", and the Cup should be organized around it's prominent contenders. Yes, I know the Rangers are defending Champs two years in a row, but they are an anomaly, and while they may very well make a run at defending, I don't think many would pick any other Div. 1 team to do any serious damage. Sorry, but it's the truth.

My compliments to the league organizers for making this change.

Not a chance... this year you actually have to win your own games
{I hope}...translation, your not going to win games {or advance to the next round} by default.I hope the teams that play you do their homework and make sure alllllllllllll players are elegible.

We would have finished second in our group anyway that year as the tie system counted.

The PKs were only there to decide a tie in the standings IF NECCESSARY.
Our record (If our loss to Aldergrove stood) was 3-1-1.
Aldergrove's would have been 3-2.

All it did was give us a chance to win the group.
Last year's format was the OT/PK win mattered.
It was three points or nothing.
The first year we tied for first but you won on the PK rule.
We would have finished second anyway.
Again, please bear in mind ALL teams in the group were effected by your so-called default.
