Staff are currently working feverishly on the Rankings, which hopefully will be out this time tomorrow. But as a teaser, staff are (and of course this is early) projecting a Sapperton top five appearance.

Not that I would know.

Exactly Ballbaby.

It has become cool to Paula bash, and many a friend have point blank lied to me saying they wouldn't touch her w/ your dick. But the way I see it, you either have to be getting too much from too many (Notty), or you have to be a male type player in the Gay & Lezbian Soccer League not to tap that. I assume the female type players in that league would gladly take a sampling of Miss Abdul flying high. Hell, I bet Paula would.

Anyhow...sorry...back to the rankings. Looking forward to it.

projecting a Sapperton top five appearance.

Also expecting Delta to get an appearanc near the top as well, with or without Dolie in the pipes.
Perhaps a win by the Mighty Rangers over Poco Premier on Wednesday night could keep us in the top 5, just hoping, but expect comments from Coach's Corner late wednesday.

Coach's Corner ??
Is this a new instalment? I thought Sir M. takes care of the Power Rankings?

I'd say that the Rangers will be up there but probably not ahead of Columbus who won easily on the weekend. IMO Cliff should drop a few since they haven't been playing...

So another week has come and gone in local Masters Football. And a notable week it was: a controversial win by Sapp to eliminate perennial powerhouses SU, Sir M somehow arranging to have his club's home games moved to Maplewood Gravel at 8AM Sundays, Dickens posting drunk on a Tuesday morning (ok, that is not that unusual), and Coach being caught playing patty fingers with the big Rangers center back under a nice fuzzy blanket on Sunday.

But enough of that, this week, staff have cut back to local teams who are still eligible to make the Provincial Championships in these rankings. They, in following weeks, will be relying on the eloquent VISL correspondent Meat Grinder for some insights into which VISL Masters teams will be vying for Rankings supremacy, and of course for the Provincial Cup.

So, here we go again with this week's edition of:

Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings:

1. Columbus F.C. (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 3. WAB rank: 1). Columbus, unlike Dickens, are strong. They took advantage of the return of the VMSL Premier Masters' leading scorer and hammered last week's #1 Westside by a 3-0 score. No game this week, awaiting the winner of West Van/Cliff Avenue for the league title.

2. S.F.C. Rangers (FVSL. Last week’s rank: 2. WAB rank: 3). This side are led by an erudite metrosexual manager, and are certainly a force to be reckoned with. They have also been showing their sensitive side lately, which is quite admirable. No game this weekend, as the La Conner tulip festival is on.

3. Sapperton Rovers (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 6. WAB rank: 5). No matter what the punters on the sideline have to say about Sunday's result, Sapperton managed to do something that no team has achieved since Capri pants were in style: they eliminated Surrey United from qualifying for the BCs. Plus, their black uniforms with a vertical stripe (good choice) were quite slimming. They are done until the BCs.

4. West Van F.C. (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 4. WAB rank: 2). This side does not train. They just do penance for a while, go mental, and then repeat. Playoff game against Cliff Ave. on Sunday coming up at Hillcrest. A couple new faces from Town Center may be dressing for that one. (No, not Coach...unfortunately).

5. Cliff Ave. United (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 5. WAB rank: 9). This side had a good session at The Blarney Stone on Monday. Up against West Van on Sunday, the winner plays Columbus for the VMSL Masters Premier League title.

6. Westside F.C. (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 1. WAB rank: 7). Westside clearly were not fanatics about winning their game at home to Columbus on the weekend. Up against Inter in a preview of the League Cup Final this Sunday at Hillcrest. Both teams are, much like Sir M in his visit this last week to Hillcrest, expected to play their cards quite close to the chest in that one.

7. ICSF Inter (VMSL. Last week’s rank: 8. WAB rank:4 ). These guys are up one spot after a win over VFF on the weekend. They play Westside coming up. Hopefully there will be some spirit in that game.

8. Delta Metro United (FVSL. Last week's rank: 9. WAB rank: 6). This team is rounding into form: they have knocked off SFC and PAU back to back, which is an excellent achievement. Sir M has his eye on his side. Congrats Ian. ;)

9. Mission Blues (FVSL. Last week's rank: 12. WAB rank: not ranked). These guys are hanging in there and still have a legitimate shot at the BCs, having defeated the Mighty All Blacks on the weekend.

10. Aldergrove United (FVSL. Last week’s rank: 11. WAB rank: not ranked). This team has righted the Aldergrove plow, and are back in the hunt after an emphatic victory over Moneyman's group on the weekend. Another team potentially in the BCs from the Valley.

11. Peace Arch United (FVSL. Last week’s rank: 10. WAB rank: not ranked). This side, perhaps like Coach, is going in the wrong direction. They need to right the ship, because Charlie don't surf..

12. Norvan (NSCL. Last week's rank: not ranked. WAB rank: not ranked). This team has staked a claim for a BCs spot with an impressive 3-0 win over NSCL leaders Coveside on the weekend. The final nine league games for this side should tell. A bye this weekend though.

13. Coveside F.C. (NSCL. Last week's rank: 17. WAB rank: not ranked). This team finally played, and got hammered. And they also lost to Norvan. Away to Vikings next. Staff report that they are pretty well a lock for the BCs out of the NSCL.

14. Vikings (NSCL. Last week's rank: 19. WAB rank: not ranked). They beat Malones on the weekend, and are probably in the BCs. Big game against Coveside next.

15. Nordic F.C. (NSCL. Last week's rank: not ranked. WAB rank: not ranked). This team is back in the rankings after their win on the weekend, They are starting to get some influential players (Tee, Biggs etc.) back, and if those guys get fit, change their haircuts, etc, (OK not Tee), all of a sudden this team will be a force. Depth may be a problem though.

And finally, staff would like to wish a great summer to consistent SMEPR representatives Surrey United, Vancouver Firefighters (both recent BCs Champions), PCOV, Wickham, Langley All Blacks, Metro Ford, GEU Thunder, etc. who will not be competing in the BCs this year. It will be less of a competition without you.

But enough of that. Seriously.

Sir M.

Unless the NSCL schedule changes we are down to one more game each. Freybe vs Coveside for the league title - should be a good match up. Freybe got the win over Coveside 2 nil a couple of weeks back but word has it from unbiased Coveside that Freybe only had 2 chances. Coveside took the previous match 3-1. Norvan will finish the season in 4th spot - Nordic in an injury plagued season will finish 3rd.

For VISL Masters rankings, you need not look further than the league standings and the cup finalists:

UVIC Alumni 1st
Vic West tie for 2nd
Vantreight tie for 2nd

UVIC and Vantreights in the Cup Final March 29th (second year running for both teams)
