The SURREY HURRICANE are the next BIG THING, that will come out of this community. On June 12th and 13th, they entered a tournament at Newton Athletic Park. Everyone thought that this team was going to be a roll over since the whole team basically are 16 and 17 year olds, but they werent. Winning their first game easily 4-0, they would have to play Sikh Temple to determine, the group winner. They tied 0-0 in a very good game to watch. Sunday morning they had the semi-final where they face the challege of playing against a good GN club, suprising everyone they won 3-2 and now would play a much older and stronger and physical AKAL. The game was one of the best to watch, with chances going both ways. Zeco scored 15 minutes in off a header that would give them a 1-0 lead, but that wouldnt hold up. In 92 minute BADESHA scored on a amazing free kick that was atleast 35 yards, to equal the game up. In the overtime sessions Hurricane was taking it to Akal, with pressure all in there end, but failed to score. They eventually won 4-3 in pk's to win the tournament. You can see atleast 7 of these players play with SURREY UNITED, who will be going to provincial in Kelowna

Congrats to the Akal Hurricanes, ohhh I mean Surrey Hurricanes, they played a very good tournament for such a young team, the young legs prevailed in the end. Akal could have finished the game early with numerous chances in and around the the 18 yard box. The Hurricanes defense cleared a couple of chances off the goal line and Janda made more than a few great saves from in close to keep the Hurricanes in contention. Again, congrats to the Hurricanes on their very close win over Akal.

they should be this sunday at the gurdwara, also just wanted to let everyone know that for the Pumi Uppal tournament there is a $2000 first place prize, and there are two imports allowed.

Who won the pumi uppal tournament ?????????

Vancouver United vs Guru Nanak Sporting Club Final.

Vancouver United won in shoot outs. With GN missing a vital penalty shot in sudden death overtime. Both teams equally deserved the win in my eyes. Perhaps the best 0-0 final of all time (that I've watched) from past or recent memory in our community tournaments. Never have I seen end to end action put on by both teams. Although the score does not reflect the outcome of the game, it was an offensive minded battle between both the clubs, with both goalies pulling out steller performances. Congratulations to all the players involved in that fine game. I was definately proud to be a spectator of that game and I hope to see more games like this in the upcoming tournaments. Right when I thought the mens open games were getting boring, I was totally shut up by such an awesome performance by these two clubs.

obviously these two teams were the team of the tourney.

on a side note, what the hell is up with Akal FC???....they are 3 wins and 4 losses in there last 2 tournaments

I was not at this tournament, and don't know what kind of a team Akal fielded. But, nothing is prob wrong with them, every tournament they are in the final and I never remember them losing to Van U before this tourny. Maybe they have injuries, missing players or bored of winning? ARe you sure 3W and 4L in last 2 tourneys? I think its the other way around, which is still pretty bad for Akal's standards.
