looks like you guys got the shaft from the ref but still laid the boots to ICSF. A mid-table Div 1 team beating a 'good' premier team. How will the mighty premier boys digest that? good luck against Pegasus, another div 1 team doing good in premier their rookie year somehow.

1-0 equals lay the boots to ICSF you have no idea what that obviously means. Cup time anything can happen. From a crappy ref to a team rising to the occasion. There have been many upsets during cup play over the years.

Contrary to what some of you might think, I bet most of us "Premier boys" love this result. And not just because it knocks Inter out, but because we want the VMSL to be the strongest possible. I would absolutely love to see a Div.2 team compete in the Imperial Cup. Why not? Every team should have to opportunity. And in a single knockout style of tournament, anything can happen. Any team can win on any given night.

If Columbus wins this weekend, it will be another in a series of first round West Van/Columbus matchups in this tournament.

Not so much, from our perspective... as holders of the potential "last" Province Cup spot. We'd like to see all the Div 1 teams, Westside, Sapp, and Norvan out in the first round.

But seeing the 47 man roster of Inter lose, is kinda nice.:wa:

Well done, GB.....I guess that answers which side was better this year.......:D ;)

Wait a minute...........

Mr. Base

:) Thanks Captain, er, Mr Base. Nobby can probably provide a better game report but it was another good battle with those guys. We missed a penalty in the first half and probably carried the balance of play but they played some nice soccer and had a couple decent chances.

Franky came on up front at halftime and definitely gave them a new dimension. Play was pretty even for the first 20 with decent chances on both sides. We scored off a cross from a short-corner and scramble in front at about 65 minutes. They pushed and carried a lot of play from there on. Critter made a couple of ridiculous saves to keep it at 1-0 including one on a breakaway. At the other end we had a couple of great chances on the counter as well and could have put one or two more in. Their keeper tipped one off the bar fairly late.

Overall, great team effort from our guys. Probably a frustrating few weeks for Olympics after a solid season but Dino is a great coach and will have those guys back in form next season.

On to the winner of Croatia and Rino next week. Will be a tough test either way.

And congrats to Chile on a huge win against Inter. Well done PD and co.

Thanks GB, congrats to Bingers on a solid win. Can`t help but feel for Dino, he did a phenomenal job with his squad this year only to have it fall apart the last few weeks...I can`t help but feel for him as he`s definately one of the good guys and it was a shame how his season ended, but I am sure he will come back next year and battle for Prem again.

Hurricanes 1 Westside 1 (Westside 4-3 in pk's)

Punjab came out very hard in first half with some speed, skill and energy. They had us on the back foot with them knocking one off the crossbar and then late in the 1st, got their goal.
We shifted the formation in the 2nd half and then it was all Westside. No disrespect to the Hurricanes, but I have never seen a team completely collapse in the 2nd half. We controlled the flow of the game and had chance after chance. Got the equalizer with about 20 to go and pushed for the winner. Extra time saw more chances as we did not want it to go to pk's while it looked like the Hurricanes were hanging on for dear life.
Off to penalties and a toss up; Rowan saved their first and their last guy put his wide with us scoring all 4 of ours.
It was a good game with a lot of action....ref made it more interseting than he needed to at times.
All in all, Westside were full value for the win. Good to see Gary Badesha again. Hats off to the Hurricanes....a good quick squad but if they are going to survive in Premier, they need to add a bit experience and get fit.

Sorry sixfyv...maybe you will get to play your next match for a win;)

Serbia 0 - Columbus 7

Right off the start Columbus took over the game and took a 2-0 lead into halftime and didn't take their foot off the pedal as our guys kinda gave up after their 5th goal. Fitness was a huge difference right away as their pace was always one step ahead of ours. I never come up with excuses but if we wanted to compete with these guys today we needed our full team but due to some injuries from last week we were unable to have our starting eleven BUT at the same time they were missing a few keys players like TK and Poli. We saw first hand today what its going to be like to play premier next year and we obviously have to pick up a few players as our team was made for Div 1 and also we have to work on our fitness. We accomplished our ultimate goal of getting promoted but it sucks to go finish the season on such a sour note. Columbus have a really good team and all the best to them in their cup run.
