10 worst sports films

This is a pretty accurate list, except for Any Given Sunday. I wouldn't say it was awesome but I wouldn't have put it on this list.

Caddyshack 2 for sure. That movie should never have been made.

And come on! Honourable mention to Cutting Edge? That is a spectacular story of a Hockey Player who's bad eye site forces him to turn from pro hockey to figure skating.

Escape to Victory.

Utter....brilliance. The whole movie industry should have just given up after this epic of Ben Hur proportions.:p

Hoosiers, The Natural. Grreat films...but a distant 2nd to ETV (as its known in the official ETV fan club:wa: )

As much as I hate baseball, Field of Dreams was a good flick. Probaby just because Darth Vader is in it.

Also "sappy" are

The baseball movie about the dying catcher with the team star pitcher buddy, "Bang the Drum Slowly" or was it "Softly". The pitcher demands the player not be cut even before he becomes ill and starts having problems.

Also, the Chicago Bears running back story featuring Gale Sayers, "The Brian Piccolo Story". He also dies of cancer and Gale Sayers is his best friend (a black and white set of friends). Piccolo is a so-so player who tries hard- just like the baseball guy in the other movie,

Both are older but pretty good if you like tear jerkers.

Won't ever make the top ten but I thought "Mystery Alaska" wasn't a bad film...

I have to add the caveat that I hadn't been in Canada long and when I watched the film I knew absolutely nothing about hockey......

Watched it last week then, did you? ;) Only the TTP hockey pool and Hockey Survivor will tell whether or not anything's changed since that entertaining night of pseudo hockey cinematography.

As for sports films, The Match is a decent footy flick set in Scotland. Somewhat sappy and predictable, but something any football player with a bit of pride can relate to.

Scotish Football

Being set in Scotland the flick was good but the footie was crap.

How about Hoop Dreams or Quicksilver??

That Rob Lowe is dreamy
