Juan Sebastien Veron is set to complete his move from Premiership champions Manchester United to Chelsea this weekend, Sky Sports News understands.

The £15 million move will go ahead despite United manager Sir Alex Ferguson saying he wants to keep the Argentina international at Old Trafford.

Veron's representatives have been in discussions with Chelsea for the past two days after the Stamford Bridge club had a renewed bid accepted by United.

Ferguson confirmed he will pick Veron for United's prestigious pre-season friendly against Juventus as their American tour continues. But the United boss revealed that Veron has not discussed his proposed move with his manager.

"Seba is a terrific player and I want him to stay," said the United boss.

"He is a mature man, very experienced and he knows what he wants. If there was a situation arising I'm sure he would talk to me but my impression was that he had settled down, everything had gone quiet and there was no problem.

"Seba is a marvellous player and he is contracted to us. It is going to be difficult for a deal to be done today. He will be playing for us."

All this after Ferguson said there is no way he is leaving. This is from Sky Sports, which is usually reliable. Veron looked very good against Celtic, appearing to be sharper and perhaps a little quicker than he was last season. Who else is this Russian mafia guy going to buy?

If United sell Veron, we're fcuked ........ Anyone of those 3 fella's get hurt, we're down to bare bones. To succeed in Europe you have to have a deep squad and who's fcuking available to buy now ?? Absolutely no-body ...........

Walks,

I heard Hartson is available for 4 million pounds. He could be converted to an outside midfielder with his pace and fitness. :D

Ask Ginger, he's my agent .

No bid from Chelsea but I hear rumours that the Reading Ladies XI might are short a right back - they are holding a raffle this weekend to raise money for the airfare :D

Mickster

You sure you wont bottle it again this year? :D Just signing a veteran keeper wont get you the double - he will have his hands full with either Cygan and Keown in front of him, let alone the opposition. But you have always got Stepanovs right?

Some EPL News:
STOKE, England (AP)—

Nigel Martyn can leave Leeds United if he wants to, manager Peter Reid said Friday.

The former England goalkeeper reportedly turned down a chance to join Chelsea last month because he wanted to compete with Paul Robinson - now England's backup - for the No. 1 spot at Elland Road.

But with the season just two weeks away, Reid has handed the job to Robinson.

Reid said he wouldn't stop Martyn from joining another team.

"Nothing is concrete at the moment, but I have too much respect for Nigel Martyn as a goalkeeper and professional not to let him know of any involvement considering he is 37 next month," Reid said on the club's Web site. "You have to be fair to players, so if anything comes up, I will let him know and have a chat with him."

Martyn was the favorite for the No. 1 spot when Aston Villa and Leeds agreed a fee for Robinson about a month ago. But the deal fell through when Robinson couldn't agree personal terms.

New Liverpool signing Harry Kewell, coming off an ankle injury, will play in the team's preseason game against Ajax on Friday, manager Gerard Houllier said.

The Australian star, who signed from Leeds last month, suffered ligament damage to his left ankle in a game against Crewe about two weeks ago and missed Liverpool's tour of the Far East.

"Harry will play against Ajax," Houllier said on the club's Web site. "He will start the game because he needs match fitness, and he's only played two halves for us so far."

Irish full-back Steve Finnan, signed from Fulham in June, might be a substitute for the away game, Houllier added. He had hernia surgery earlier in the offseason and also missed the Far East tour.

Injured Bolton striker Youri Djorkaeff could be back sooner than expected.

Djorkaeff suffered a hairline fracture of his cheekbone in a preseason game in Malta on Tuesday night, and Bolton manager Sam Allardyce said Thursday the former French international could miss six weeks.

On Friday, assistant manager Phil Brown said Djorkaeff could be ready for the start of the season on August 16.

"Hopefully he will be joining us again on Monday, and we will have a better idea then," Brown told BBC radio. "Fingers crossed, he will be back in training and looking forward to the first game of the season. As it stands at the moment, though, we are a little bit in the dark."

Djorkaeff went to France to see a specialist about the injury.

Blackburn completed the signing of Slovak defender Vratislav Gresko from Parma on Friday, the English team said.

The fee was about 1.2 million pounds ($US1.92 million), Blackburn said on its Web site.

Gresko, who spent five months with Rovers last season on loan, signed a three-year contract.

"We are delighted to officially add Vratislav to our squad," Blackburn chief executive John Williams said.

Former Rangers defender Lorenzo Amoruso and former Feyenoord midfielder Brett Emerton have also signed with Blackburn this summer, though midfielders Damien Duff and David Dunn left for Chelsea and Birmingham, respectively.

Wolves signed Senegal's World Cup star, Henri Camara, to a four-year contract Friday, the newly promoted club said.

Wolves paid French team Sedan an initial 1.5 million pounds ($US2.4 million) for the striker, though the fee could rise to 2 million pounds ($US3.2 million).

Camara led Sedan in scoring with 14 goals and scored the golden goal against Sweden in the second round of last year's World Cup.

"It is a boyhood dream to play in England, and I can't believe it finally happened," Camara said on Wolves' Web site. "Where I grew up in Senegal, everybody followed English football. It was everybody's dream, and for me, it is a dream which has come true."

Wolves manager Dave Jones was confident Camara would play well in the Premier League.

"Henri will bring lots of pace and will score goals, and he's a long-term signing for us," said Jones.

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Ed de Goey signed a two-year contract with Stoke City, the first-division club said Friday.

De Goey, a former Dutch international, played more than 100 games for Premier League Chelsea in six years.

But last season he was a backup to Carlo Cudicini, and Chelsea released him in June.

"I have no problem coming into the Nationwide League," De Goey said on Stoke's Web site. "I just want to play regularly, and the people at Stoke have been very good to me."

De Goey, expected to start in Stoke's friendly against Macclesfield on Friday night, has also played with Sparta Rotterdam and Feyenoord.

Stoke was the final team to secure safety in the division last season.

It was a great match to watch, like I said before full marks to United but it got exciting when Del Piero, Trezeguet(sp?), Nedved, Zambrotta and Tacchinnardi came on.

Cannaiglia is HORRIBLE as a colour man!
