Round of Stella's

I will be more than happy to buy a round of Stella's for you chaps if you win against WUS. That's your incentive, you win and I will get the Stella's in for you.......and I mean it as well!!

So Duke, (and/or Keeper/Ranger) will we see you out at Griffin on Monday night?? Although a win by us still isn't going to prevent WUS from promotion if they win all their other remaining games. Should be interesting when they do battle with RFC too. I know TS is still hoping for a shot at promo, but he'll be a real long shot!!

I will follow through for sure! Just actually sent an email out to some of the boys to see who is up for watching you on Monday. We'll be there if we can, but Stella's will flow if you win!

Our game is off this weekend which is s good thing. With injuries and guys out of town, we are down to bare bones now. We've struggled with this for the past couple of weeks, so a break is certainly what we need.

Division break down

I know that I'm new and you can say what you want but I think that the difference between Premier, Div 1 and Div 2 all comes down to pace and conditioning. I'm sure that there are several guys out there on whatever team who could possibly have more ball control or skill than a bunch of guys playing premier or div 1 but can they do it with a guy on their back. Can everyone handle the speed and intensity that the premier game is played at. If you go out and watch a div 2 game and then go out and watch a Premier game, the speed at which things happen, like a guy closing in on a man or the ball moving around the field from player to player. That is the difference in the game.

I also agree that there should be a 3rd Div. Yeah it may be more work but at least it makes for some competition in div 2 for the entire division instead of only a couple teams.

As the fields are closed except the turf, Have a great Christmas, enjoy the time off and see you all in the New Year.

...For the HeLL of it...

Work was a bit slow so....I made a chart that breaks down the ability of the top 5 Div 2'C teams ability to deliver on their max number of points. I weighted their remaining opposition by their ranking and then averaged that number to give the totals.

TEAM - Rating
Ravens(43) - 686
WFC Rangers(41) - 602
Signmaster(42) - 592
WUS(45) - 571
Richmond(41) - 564

I think the final games are going to make for a very interesting finale to the regular season with a good chance of a playoff to decide who goes up to Div1.....

Seriously, if you really want the round of Stella's that Duke has promised you for a win over WUS tonight, you should man-mark either Elvis and/or the other little guy up front. If you prefer not to man-mark, put two FAST players as your outside backs. They don't need to be particularily great with the ball, just fast. I hope this doesn't exclude yourself ;) from the starting lineup! The WUS gameplan is to defend, defend, defend, and then get the ball up to their 2 forwards. If you, ahem, discourage the little guy from wanting the ball, you will take his effectiveness away dramatically. Elvis is more difficult to intimidate. Just don't let him get his shot away. He will be amazingly easy to knock over within 25 yards of your goal  where he loves to set up his free kicks. If you guys play your 3-5-2 and use your size, you should be good. Just remember to have some speed at the back. I think I speak for the whole of 2C when I say good luck and I hope you win!

Six of One,

Thanks for the scoop on WUS. I missed the first game against them but take it that Elvis and the other little guy up front are new. Your marking suggestions would not only leave me out the lineup but most of our other backs too although we all display your second comment about not being particularly good with the ball. I'll have to see what we can do. It should be a decent game, not sure on our numbers for tonight but we should have more than enough. Hope the weather stays dry to make the beverage consumption more enjoyable.

Yup, I don't think those two guys were there at the start of the season.

Ya, don't throw your whole lineup off, just be wary of those guys as they are dangerous up front. They are definitely beatable at the back. Just be careful of the counter-attack as they love to do that.

You WILL see some of the RFC boys out tonight. Don't worry, we'll make our voices heard, you'll know who we are! Any idea if there's an outlet near the stands, wouldn't mind breaking out the portable heater!
You're right, we're still hoping for a shot at promo, but we need some help ;) ! Please do what you can! Just man-mark Elvis and hammer him every time he gets the ball. It should take him out of the game.

I seriously wish I could have been there to watch tonight but work stood in the way. With a healthy supply of RFC and WFC fans to inspire the ol' JB's, a good time is/was sure to be had.

Lookin' forward to the match report.

holy shite 5-2......it's almost as bad as us losing to them 5-0.......still unbeaten at home.......if only all their games were on turf they'd be headed for promotion :)

Just got filled in by Mickster. First half we were all over them, hitting two posts then going up 2-0 at half. Started the second half just as dominating and potting 3 more to make it 5-0. Our keeper took a red for handling a cross outside the box. We took some chances and they got 2. I also heard that the ref was outstanding and didn't fall for any other their antics. He asked for an escort to his car after the game because those WUS pricks are gutless pukes. What a sweet win!

WUS who????

Well, what can I say, we played well tonight and
WUS was an embarressment to the league. Haven't we all heard that before. Nice to see the RFC boys out and supporting us. Glad we were able to help keep your promo hopes alive as well as helping out the WFC boys. Up 5-0 we decided to sit 2 of our quality players. Their handball red in the first secured a 2-0 lead at the half after a clinical PK by Senior. Second half was much the same with their typical whining and diving. Thankfully the ref was quality and didn't buy their cheep antics on or off the field. With spectators and "some" players in the WUS system its a surprise that they are still in this league. We got a red midway thru the second when our keeper batted away a thru ball outside the box and both their goals came after the red. The score could have been uglier but at 5-2 we're not complaining. Hopefully WFC, RFC and Signmaster have a good battle for promo and after tonight, hopefully a vmsl disgrace like WUS doesn't get a shot. Thumbs down to most of their players and "ALL" of their fans. Classless to say the least. Glad we thumped you and we'll be happy to do it again should we meet in the cup. Look forward to other posts on this game.

Duke, we'll be in touch :D
