It's actually alright to watch, some good stuff and a fairly 'exciting' match. The 15 year-old Kara Lang looks like a player for sure.

Olsen from Denmark was rather cute which is probably why I kept watching

It is not bad to watch

Sports Net is covering many of the games, not just Canadian ones. The girls can play, and the soccer is very entertaining as it is a very attacking style of play that the teams play. You do get errors that you won't at the men's game and the ladies are not as strong, but it is not bad stuff.

The CSA hopes that this is a success as they would like to put a bid forward for Hosting the Gold Cup in a few years. I can see this a possiblity, but it was also mentioned that Canada would lke to put a bid forward for Co-Hosting the World Cup in 2014 with the U.S.
It is 12 years away, and FIFA has awarded a Cup to two nations now. It would also be the Americas turn for the Cup at that time, but I just can't see Canada Hosting such a large event as the World Cup, when our biggest soccer stadium in B.C. (a soccer hot bed) is Swangard with a top attendance of 8,000.

Lang is a very promising player. I still think the winning goal was a cross , but the first Canadian goal was set up by some good moves by Lang.

Canada could do well here. The attendance at all the venues have been quite good, too. Fifa must be a little surprised by the interest from Canadian fans.

Prediction for tonight: Canada 3, Japan 0.

Canada was, in my opinion, lucky to win tonight. Brazil played some nice soccer. Terrible reffing. Brazil was a chippy, cheap team. Big crowd though. 38000 or something like that.

That is the only two words I can come up with to describe that game. I only the saw the second half and overtime and was very disappointed. NASA must have been a sponsor for the Canadian team. The amount of missiles sent out of the back could only be described as 'Wimbledonesque'. Some of the girls need to be checked for organs dangling between their legs. I think KNVB would be perfect for that......... The Canadian keeper's hair is a fcuking embarrassment to our beautiful country. Finally, the two announcers could be the worst YET.

The Brazilians were fcuking jobbed on at least 2 calls. They should have had a penalty in overtime and Sinclair should not have been awarded that 'penalty', that she justifiably missed. The ref was fcuking horrendous and of course, she was a pie-licker. Julio Englesias should have sent off the field about 15 minutes before they escorted him off. The Brazilian who kicked/put the knee to Sinclair after the penalty miss, should have been thrown out of the game. Either way, it was a fcuking tragic excuse for a soccer match. I

The worst thing is the USA is going to stuff Canada and this diabolical display of soccer will be moot .

What were the keepers doing in the penos? The first couple of times they charged out off the line it worked then the ball simply went by them quite easily. I thought the GKs on both sides should have stayed big in the net as all but the Canadian shot to the corner were possibly shots that might have been saved.

The Canadian GK's hair is a disgrace as the Captain points out. I can't see how anyone could play with hair standing up like that. Kind of makes you wonder where her head is at.

I'm glad Canada won, however that display of soccer was brutal to say the least. I just love our canadian system of let's see how far we can kick it and hope Sinclair gets it, beats a couple of players and scores. It's just not good soccer.


What was with all the trash talking and cheap shots, by both teams? When sinclair missed the penalty in extra time, a girl basically kicked her right in the back and got nothing. Pathetic referee, no control whatsever.



Go Canada hate to lose to the US in anything.

I agree with you all that it does not make for a pleasant game to watch. It never does. In fact, I find it absolutely frustrating to watch. There are so many opportunites for the back line to settle the ball, keep possession, and then hoof it up if they wish. I guess when you have a couple of hot forwards who can counter like they have showed, why mess with success?

Anyway, the atmosphere has been electric, and as the father of two girls, I can see the immediate impact the success of the women's team has had. My daughter is actually begging her grumpy, demanding father to take her to the pitch for one of his one on one training sessions. She doesn't even cry anymore when I start screaming at her. Life is good.

Piss taking aside

I enjoyed watching extra time and PK's... That part of the game can't go, because there is soo much at stake and the drama is good... I watched the game vs England and that was a good game... Sinclair is quality and the rest of the team just try to get her the ball (why wouldn't they)???
The Brazilians lacked class and I thought the Canadian girls fought hard and (even though got more of the questionable calls) deserved to win... That whack Sinclair took from the Brazilian captain (after her OT. PK) was an absolute disgrace to the game... If anyone in the VMSL did that there would be a war!!!
That said, good for Edmonton getting behind OUR girls!!!

BTW, you old bastards need to get out more often, McLeod's hair was ballsy and added flair... She has got to be the hottie on the Canadian team hands down!!!

I happen to like the girls with a bit of flavour and spunk!!! Don't get me wrong, the "long legged momma girl blonds" are everyone's type, but I just think Erin has got style and individualality...
