I'd be surprised to learn it's down to just 6 spots.
Traditionally it has been:
VMSL: 6
FVSL: 5
VISL: 4
Defending Champion's League: 1
So with Inter as champions the VMSL should have 7 spots as usual? Has this changed? If anything I believe that the VMSL was lobbying to have that floating spot permanently attributed to the league given the VMSL's historical dominance in the tournament. The FVSL has only 8 teams in Premier this year, so giving them an additional spot would be ridiculous. The island performed so poorly this past season, three of four out in the first round and then the remaining team out at the next time of asking, that it would be difficult to see how they would be awarded a spot. Unless one of the other leagues has badgered their way to a spot (see PCSL circa 2009) I can't think there would be any reason to take the spot away from the VMSL.
As for a wager on the Vancouver derby, I predicted a draw, so unless you are giving me odds, I am unlikely to commit to that position . Presumably you will be backing Rino's in this hypothetical, leaving me to take Westside? You would have to direct message me to exchange the details...
Yes, the "rotating" champions spot has been given permanently to VISL. No idea how that got through the competitions committee as VISL teams performed terribly last season in provincial cup and you'd think their coefficient would have taken a big hit.
