This is a sad day in Canucks history. I remember when the "C" would drop his gloves to get his team going. How is Luongo going to do this like Naslund, er like Linden, er like Dan Quinn, er like Doug Lidster, er like Stan Smyl used to?

Personally, I L-O-V-E the move since Canadian teams (the fans and the press) put so much pressure on the Captain. It's only a freaking letter!

The Captain is not supposed to be able to walk on water. Everyone knows that only Tony Angel can do that.

There is only one Captain that matters..........:D

Seriously though, this is the most overrated position EVER.........in any sport. Sorry, but it really isn't a big deal. These guys get a shite load of money to play their respective sports and at the end of the day, they don't give a **** who their captain is.

Should make for some interesting interviews post game. This is how EVERY interview went last year.

Last year...
Interviewer: Marcus... good win for you guys tonight. What was the difference?
Marcus: You know, John... Roberto really kept us in it tonight... made some big saves to give us a chance to win...

This year...
Interviewer: Roberto... good win for you guys tonight. What was the difference?
Roberto: Um.... uh... (silence). The guys gave 110%... A lot of heart out there... We played as a unit... Guys have really bought into the system...
Interviewer: Roberto... you made 67 saves. Don't you think you were the difference?
Roberto: Um... uh... We're all in this together... playing for each other.
Interviewer: SIXTY FREAKIN SEVEN SAVES... 16 of which were breakaways. The shots were 10 to 67 and you won 1-0.
Roberto: Um... uh... do you like my new haircut?

1. Massive upgrade from Naslund.
2. Easily the most important, and best leader on the team. All the deffinitions of "Captain" fit this guy.
3. Two of the three alternates are quite capable of handling communications, especially Mitchell. Kesler is likely being looked to as the future Captain, should Luongo be moved in a year or two, or move on. Ohlund is a good choice, but could never see him wearing the "C".

Anyone notice Bieksa was left out? Ohlund- w/ this year only left on his deal, came as a surprise. You have to think they are dangling Bieksa to try and lever a front line scorrer out of one of these cap-troubled teams.
