The Buckeyes-Huskies game was a good one to watch....for the first half anyways. Tressel must be pumped at the fact that his running game is so effective without Maurice "academic integrity" Clarett in the lineup. I was also really impressed with Craig Krentzel, OSU's golden-boy QB, who scored their second TD after being sorta flushed out of the pocket, and basically ran right through Washington's shitty defense.

USC stomped Auburn 23-0, which was also a good game to watch. The Trojans' defense was swarming and I thought whats-his-name, the new QB who fills the hole Palmer left, did a decent job in his first real test as the starter.

After listening to a whole summer of Kevin Wheeler's Sporting News Radio show (syndicate broadcast on 1040am at like 1 in the morning), I have a newfound appreciation for college football, especially the Miami Hurricanes, if for no other reason that getting to see starting QB Brock Berlin's girlfriend, Miss Louisana - Brittney Rogers.

I have gone very conservative with a five gamer this weekend. The most difficult game will be the Ireland/Russia game and without Robbie Keane, Ireland might have a hard time getting the win. UCLA vs. Colorado -3

Colorado comes home to Boulder with a big win against in state rival Colorado St. They've found their man in ex-minor leaguer Joel Klatt who averaged 11.8 yards an attempt against the Rams. They have a two-pronged running attack with Brian Calhoun and Bobby Purify. UCLA has some questions coming into Colorado. How will Coach Karl Dorrell handle his first game as head coach? Who will be the starting QB for the Bruins? As of right now it will be sophomore Matt Moore who has as much experience in college football as William Shatner has singing. How will UCLA respond to a team that trashed them at their home 31-17, just a year ago? Colorado has one game under their belt, a home
crowd, altitude, and a big play offense and special teams on their side. There is a chance for scattered thunderstorms in this game, as well.

Auburn vs. Georgia Tech + 8½

Both of these teams are coming off games, in which neither could score an offensive touchdown. USC totally dominated Auburn's offense, not allowing them
to run at all, and constantly pressuring QB Jason Campbell, sacking him six times. On the other hand Georgia Tech's offense couldn't score against BYU. QB Reggie Ball is barely 18 years old and now has to face a defense that is much better than he saw in Provo. He is not mature enough and I expect Auburn's defense to dominate, with Georgia Tech lacking a consistent
running attack. Look for Auburn to control the game on the ground with RB's Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams. Auburn will take out their frustration on a
young Tech team and look for the exact opposite of what happened to the Tigers last week. Take: Auburn -8½

Maryland vs. Florida St. -14.5

Maryland has been going through a ton of problems with player suspensions, but nothing hurts them more with the loss of 2001 ACC offensive Player of the Year
Bruce Perry. Although he is improving, he is listed as doubtful this week against the Seminoles. Terps QB Scott McBrien has no chance of making plays in this
game, with a weak arm, receivers with very questionable hands, no running game, and a fast defense that will neutralize his mobility. Florida St. is on a mission. They were not ranked in the Top Ten since the Magna Carta, and many polls did not even pick them to win the ACC. They went out last week and
made an example of the Tar Heels, and this week the lowly Terps come into town. Motivation factors in, as Florida St. wants to prove to their critics that they
are a national contender, while the Terps are still licking their wounds from last week's bad defeat at the hands of Northern Illinois. This game could get real ugly. Take: Florida St. -15
