From the VMSL:
We have received complaints about parks being left in a messy state after our games. Some municipalities have told us that they will charge us for the cleaning up process. Naturally, we will have to pass the amount charged onto the teams that were using the facilities that needing cleaning. To avoid this unpleasant and time-consuming situation, we will hold the home team responsible for cleaning up immediately after each game.
Of course, all TTP'ers are well informed and naturally clean up after themselves, but perhaps we can pass word along to the rest of our team/club. We get pissed off when dogs aren't picked up after, the least we can do is walk the walk and clean up after ourselves. The more money they spend on cleaning up, the less money they spend on maintaining fields.

As a reminder, the following is an excerpt from the October 7th VMSL meeting minutes. Apparently, some teams are not heeding the VMSL's warnings. And I can attest to this fact: one of the Hillcrest changing rooms was a utter disgrace come Saturday. As (one of) the first teams using it, we stumbled on massive amounts of left over spits, grass cuttings, and tape balls strewn about the place. Remember, it shouldn't be the next team's responsibility to clean up after you -- there are brooms available, so fcuking use them.
Hillcrest: A garbage concern was brought to the Vancouver Parks Board by some concerned neighbours. This led the VPB to inform the VMSL. The VMSL stands on record in stating that: The HOME Team is responsible for park clean up for both sidelines. Further, they are also responsible for clean up of changing rooms and the ‘containment’ of any public drinking. In summary, home teams are to take responsibility of their parks. To also note: Teams will be fined if we receive any further legitimate complains.

Don't they have a resident parksboard attendant at Hillcrest? I thought their job was to keep the park clean...

Yes, they do, and they've been charging the VMSL for extra clean up.

Well, at Adanac we have a little old lady that cleans up after us and we pay her in empties. Maybe other Clubs should use Croatia's example and find a little old lady to do the same for them.;)

Perhaps the VMSL should charge the parks for not having the fields cut every week, straight lines, etc.

It goes both ways... when's the last time you saw a caretaker anywhere? What exactly do they do these days?

Issues

I have problems with the quote below:

The HOME Team is responsible for park clean up for both sidelines. Further, they are also responsible for clean up of changing rooms and the ‘containment’ of any public drinking

How can the home team be responsible for things like the dressing rooms. I know quite a few teams that stay in the changing rooms for hours ..drinking..talking...whatever. How can the VMSL expect someone to stay at the park and wait for the other team to leave. I not saying that the home team should not clean the area around the field and check the dressing room, but I surely won't be going back to the park three or four hours after the game to cleanup the opposing teams dressing room. Then again, we don't have a dressing room...hmmm...maybe I should request some of those portapotty's for our home field.

What is the 'containment" of any public drinking mean?
I hope they are not saying it is the responsibility of the home team ensure that there is no public drinking at the game.

Meaning of Cleanliness

This may be a boring thread but it is common sense that teams - home and visitors - clean up their own mess both in or out of the dressing room. It ain't rocket science for a team to leave a dressing room or the side line absence of garbage, tape, etc.

It is hard to believe that anyone would suggest that it is up to the parks staff to do that. That has to be a joke.

I agree. But keep in mind that this is a essentially a socialist country. H-E-Double Hockey sticks, you're not even allowed to line the fields in Richmond. Apparently your taking someones job away.
I wouldn't put it past some people to think they don't have to clean up after themselves
