Were the Caps playing last night?
I've been so checked out on the NHL this year....a look at the standings, and holy shite Colorado! They have to be on pace to break a single season points record, no?
It'd be great to see the 'Nucks make it, but it's looking like they need a colossal collapse by two teams in front and a near perfect run to finish the year. Nothing is impossible, and at least it sounds like the hockey is entertaining.
And...'Caps....totally checked out on them. At least the Canucks spend money and try to put out a product that can entertain and hopefully build to a contender. Can't say that for the Caps.

I agree Canucks aren't shy about spending big money. Caps on the other hand aren't spending any money.
Some crazy rumors going around that Canucks may not extend Bruce Boudreaus contract past this season. He has done an excellent job since he took over. They are 25-13-8 for 13th in overall standings and went from 6th overall on most goals allowed to third fewest in the league under Boudreau. Canucks were 2nd worst team under Green with the same squad.

Maybe amongst the dozen Assistant GMs, Ambassadors and Rutherford they have another candidate in mind waiting in the wings.

Whoever said we should move on from Bo Horvat is an idiot. First to crest 30 on this team? Solid. By the end we'll probably see Miller and Pettey pass 30 too.

This season has been pretty sureal. I believe you are correct about controlling their own destiny.
Keep an eye on Nashville. Tough remaining schedule.
If they do pull this off then Bruce has to be a lock for the Jack Adams doesn't he?

John Hynes has managed to bring Johansen and Duchene back from the crypt... he also deserves to be in the discussion because that looked a rebuild at the start of the year.
Canucks are setting up nicely to finish 9th, about a point or two out of a playoff spot... you know, the kind of thing that probably would have been avoided had Hughes and Petey bothered to show up for camp on time...

Can’t blame Petey and Hughes for that. It’s business, A cut throat business. The moment you don’t perform or the organization find something that suits them better, emotions don’t come in to play and a business decision is made. Players need to look after themselves too. I’m sure they both would of preferred a proper preseason.
