Worst media feed ever.

The comments are awesome, and totally disrespectful of Canada / VM. "Anyone notice the feed freezes every time the fat man speaks?"

LOL.

I don't care if Canada is piggy backing here, and I don't care that we are doing this to get into the dance. This is the springboard we need. Already planning the road trip to Mexico. Guadalajara, Mexico City? Yes please.

Confirmed or speculated? Again, heard SFA of that presser.

Three cities in Canada, 3 each, extra one going to TO, of course. Each city to get one host game.

For Canada and Mexico, there must be some allowance for a host country going on a long run? Imagine Mexico making the quarters or semis, and NOT being able to host?

Perhaps this is the jump start the caps need and they'll get grass in BC Place. Super pumped about the opportunity to catch a World Cup game.

I didn't know where to put this but...

I came across this article in the Guardian that looks at the failed qualification of the US National team back in 1986, the same year we made it, and the last year the Americans missed.

The parallels are so reminiscent of Canada's struggles and puzzling qualification failures thru out the '90's and 2000's that US Soccer made (and changed).

Unreal.....what a joke.

For argument sake.....

Lets say on average ...

250.00 per ticket x 55,000 seats = $13,750,000

$13,750,000 x say 3 games minimum = $41,250,000

Including food , drink, parking , souvenirs and apparel plus all the other odds.

Easily add up to over 100,000,000 revenue spent directly on the event itself not including the spinoffs.

Carol James is running the show. Horgan just a muppet.

Both need a kick in the fcuking balls.

Insult to injury they weren't even voted in.

I wonder how all the teachers who are soccer fans feel right now.

to add to it

BC place = Pavco = Crown corp / Provincial Government.

Let it sit empty you intimate Fcuks.

On the bright side we won't have to worry about street closures for the Stanley Cup parade we are planning.

Asklop funny you just ran the numbers as I just did the same thing.
I agree fully ticket sales alone would bring in a huge amount of revenue given that all 3 games would sell out at 60,000 seats.

How Carole James ever became Finance Minister is beyond me.....

LOL

I sent it it to 1040. Sounded like MOJ was using part of email but gave no credit.. Fcuker. I'd like to think there is more to it but its the NDP. Horgan has taken to many lacrosse sticks to his dome. This reeks of Carol James.

By The way, were our numbers comparable? I just did a quick search on ticket prices . It think 250.00 avg was low on my part

Hey thats what I ran $250 on Average. Easily sell out 60,000 seats times 3 games. So you get $45 million in ticket sales.

From this you subtract:

1. New Grass pitch
2. Security
3. Any stadium changes

Then add in all the additional food revenue and merchandising.

I just don't see how the numbers would not work.....unless there is a kick up to FIFA? Even still the ticket sales alone would cover off many of the additonal costs.

Even if it ended up losing some money the experience for locals combined with the world wide exposure of the province would be well worth it...you can't put a dollar value on that. Plus the increase in tourist spending money downtown etc...
