No excuse for Croatia not having Darko's card, we shot oursleves in the foot.
I am torn however because Darko should have played and he is a mainstay in the team so it wasn't as though he was some new ringer, and I think Surrey should have taken their lumps.
But, Croatia management has to take the blame on this one.

Maybe Croatia management were too busy sculpting?

Just a thought.

Well said JohnnyCro

Croatia FC fcuked up. Period.

They won the game, but lost the points.
They used an ineligible player...that is a no-no.

I think JimmyHolidays' questions still remain the key...
Why was his name not on the list?
I think there is something fishy there.
Before the game the ref checks cleats, shinny's and your number...
As a player, you KNOW if your name was called.
I am sure Darko would have known if his name was called.

That being said, I cannot see any team doing anything different than what surrey did.
Did they deserve the points? No. But they were awarded them due to a Brain-Cramp but the Croatian Mgt...

We can debate this to death, but it is useless.

The real prtoest is still the JJ situation.

Super Pippo,

A team in the past has done differently.

A few years ago, a certain team played one or two players they shouldn't have in the Imperial Cup final. The other team knew this and management asked the players if they wanted to protest and have the game replayed. We said fcuk it.

On a side note, I can't remember but did Inter get 3 points when they protested a game against Peg for using Jinky a few years ago (even though the league said he could play)? I only seem to recall us losing the 3.

Not Sure

Re: three points deducted
I will find out for sure tonight...
I do remember that allowed us to be tied with Peg for the final playoff spot and a playoff Qualification game was played...

re: the imperial cup game
That poises a different scenerio in that no points are awarded or taken away for using an illegal player....just a win or loss, I would imagine.
The last thing you want is an * next to your Imperial Cup win...

The League Did Right

In my opinion, the league did the right thing all the way through. The real concern should be: Is the league consistent?

No they are not.

So the real problem lies with the league. We all don't know what the fcuk they are going to do from day to day with regards to protests.

I know of many of times where guys played without cards, even though the league clearly states a team will be deducted the 3 and $50 fine. Referee approval does not matter! Inconsistency.

Teams like Peg and Inter shouldn't be making these decisions themselves. It should be cut and dry - a league decision.

Smilie,
I am no Slurrey fan, just as KNVB is no Sap fan (but he is always at our games). Behind the trees was the only place without wind.

inconsistency

WAB brings up a good point.

it would be nice to see the league being consistent in their
decisions regarding suspensions etc, but even nicer to see
the refs being consistent in their awarding of cards:mad:

as for the league's decision regarding croatia's wasitreallyworthit
and surrey mgnt's protest...well done.

how many times have we all had to find a way to get our fines paid and our cards back in time?:( if you don't adhere to the rules
expect to pay the penalty.

as for a sportsmanship issue on surrey's part for protesting,
wouldn't croatia's actions that day be a better question of
sportsmanship?

Speaking of knob

Are you ever going to get past the fact that we beat you guys. Fine the player in question should not have played, but it's not like we imported some ringer from Europe for fcuk's sake. He is a regular starter on our team. Are you suggesting that we the "lowly" Croats need to be somewhat less than at full strength for you guys to beat us???? I know you don't mean that.
Yes you beat us. Way to go!

That's exactly what I'm saying. If you have your half ass team out there as you did when we pounded you 6-0 you can't live with us. If you have your FULL squad like you did when you beat us the Crotes actually put on a good show.

That's all folks.
