Well...at least yours was a close game. Holy Cross 9 -Mountain 0.....not even close as they showed up with 13 players and their starting keeper didn't show til it was 3-0 already. We also had to have our teacher sponsor ref the first 10mins as no referee had shown up? Second time in 2 years that we had a no show ref in Langley? The guy that did show was the co-ordinator and he split right after the game. He also told me after our ninth goal that if we scored another he would call the game?? Anyway..I had the girls basically play keep away which I think made the other team just start walking..they were actually playing better when we were trying to score. I do agree we didn't need to run up the score but they had girls not playing because they were getting ready for the "school dance"??? I even had defensive players up front and in the middle. Oh well...a week off as it's our "bye" week.

Cheers!

Scottyshell, one of the teams in AAA in the Surrey zone beat another team 18-0 this week......the other team had 9 players the whole game. So you're only half as bad as their coach. ;) :D

Charles Best and Centennial are definitely the teams to beat in the Valley......they tied 3-3 today and they've been pounding all the other teams they have played.

I guess that means Burnsview's coach is worse than me as not only did they beat Mountain 9-0 but also beat Pacific Academy 11-0.

Cheers!

Burnsview is a very good team. They won the UVIC tournament in penalties and are obviously defending AA Champions. We're hoping to set up an exhibition game against them between league and Fraser Valley play.

SD 6 Seaquam 1

Very disappointed to give up a goal considering they had NINE players the whole game. Yes, the majority of the subs were on the field at the time but complete loss of focus on a free-kick for them. We had six different goal scorers again which was great as a couple of girls scored their first goals as Devils. We are off to Kamloops for a 4 game tournament on Friday and Saturday with our last league game against Earl Marriott coming up on Monday.

SD 5 Rutland 0
SD 7 Williams Lake 0
SD 3 Prince George 0
SD 2 South Kamloops 1 (PK win)

As you can see, not a lot of quality teams at the South Kam tournament. Fortunately, we had a tough last game which we played immediately after our Prince George game as we wanted to get on the road earlier. This was diffiuclt for the girls but we did very well. Overall an outstanding weekend for the girls as we moved the ball very well albeit against weaker opposition. We have to play Earl Marriott tomorrow in our last league game and then get ready for the Fraser Valley tournament which starts next week. Our drive for 10 is almost there.

Go Devils!

Wow, what a roll your team is on. I hope you coaches find some time to enjoy yourself on these road trips beyond the soccer pitch. I know it's tough.

Spot on, Ballbaby. It is impossible to do that when you're planning for the next match and what you're going to be doing at training on Monday. It never ends. In some regards I can't wait until the end of the season so I can put my feet up and have a casual orange juice.

BTW, are we on for next Saturday?

I will try and get time off. It will be tough but when you mentioned having a casual orange juice, it sounds so enticing.

Especially when it's mixed with Capt.Morgan Spiced rum!!!

Playing our last league game tomorrow against Pacific Academy. Needing to win and keep the "no goals against" at zero with no grade 12's who are at a mandatory retreat ( Catholic school grade 12 ). Our last game is against Guilford Park but it is considered an exhibition. Good luck this week.

Cheers!

South Delta 3 Heritage Woods 2 We did not play very well but fortunately one of our strikers was in the mood today and scored 3.

We play on Thursday against Queen Elizabeth or Chilliwack on Thursday with a berth to the Provincials on the line......

South Delta 1 Chilliwack 0 - We have qualified for the record tying 10th straight Provincial tournament. Girls played much better in this game but it was destined to be an ugly game from the start. We knew we were going to be in this type of game and battled appropriately. Well done to all the Devils for being a part of history. Next up is Charles Best in the semi-finals. I think this will give us a very good indication of where we are this year.........

Burnsie,

How many teams qualify for provincials? My school, Fraser Heights, lost their 1st game to Panarama Ridge, but have since beat Clayton Heights, and today Chilliwack. Is it top six advance to provincials?

Yes, Gilly......if you win on Monday, you will be top 6.......we might end up playing each other actually if we lose against Charles Best, which is possible.

South Delta 1 Charles Best 0 (OT) -

The best effort of the season by our girls against a very big and physical Charles Best team. We deserved the victory as we outworked them for the majority of the game and created 5 good scoring opportunities to their 2. Their keeper made some big stops in the first half, second half and first half of OT before we scored a cracker on a header with 5 minutes to go in the second overtime period. We now play Panorama Ridge in the final which will likely be ANOTHER one goal game one way or the other as both of us have won all three of our Valley games by one goal and when we met in league play, it was 1 - 0. :) The Panorama coaches are good guys and it will be great to play against them in the final.

Gilly, I see you lost 2 - 1 to Tweedsmuir yesterday. :( Unlucky but perhaps you can give me a little scouting report on them as we MIGHT have them in our pool in the Provincials.

Shamrock - You must have pissed someone off as you didn't make the latest Province Rankings. :p I think they might use a lotto machine to come up with those rankings though.

We played Tweedsmuir in a pre season tournament. They were a very solid squad but I thought they only had one attacker to really pull the d apart. If you have a solid back line, they are beatable. Mind you that was two months ago, so I really have no idea.

Over in the North Shore & Burnaby zone, Argyle is into the provincials. They are essentially the same team as last year that lost in the provincial finals. Burnaby South is an ok team and will play Sentinel for our 2nd provincial spot tomorrow. The rest of the zone was exceptionally weak all season. I have been really shocked by the calibre of play. Hopefully it is just an off year and everything will be back to normal next year. I went into the season expecting to get shelled but we were competitive. That speaks more to the lack of talent on most teams than my exceptional coaching ability. At times we were starting 3 girls with no soccer playing experience but held our own. A strange year over here.
