Another deal that leaves me scratching my head.

Why are two non playoff teams trading players? Is this just the precursor to the Ducks moving both Nieds and Pronger in the next week?

Pittsburgh has to be raising the white flag moving their best Defenseman...

weird.

Pittsburgh is 1 point out of the playoffs, yet the teams they are racing with all have games in hand

Anaheim is tied for 8th with teams that all have games in hand

They got Leopold as well. We'll see if it makes them stronger, Lombardi and Prust were mainstays in the line-up, although not at the same level as Jokinen will be. See if it upsets the chemistry.

Flames gave up WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much.

Prust is a good 3rd liner and Lombardi is a serviceable 2nd line centre on most decent teams in this league.

The killer is the first rounder.

I guess with all their injuries they are making this move to hold onto the 3rd seed by winning the division.

Is Jokinen a UFA at the end of the season?

No, he's got another year or 2 I believe. Phoenix just didn't want to pay him anymore.

I agree with JBN, way too much. I didn't think I'd see any first rounders go, with them being so valuable with young, cheap talent in a decreasing salary cap market. Flames better hope they win it this year or they're in some trouble.
