Div 2 [2009 Division 2/3 Cup] Predictions, Results & Banter

On a side note I watched the first half of NK/Hurricanes, NK once again failed to impress but I'm sure they were missing the usual 5+ starters. NK had possession but no real quality chances and NK had one cracker off the post.

Meant to say the Hurricanes had the possession with NK sitting back looking for counter attacks.

Congrats to NK on the double.
With that being said, I hope you guys were missing a bunch of starters during the final, cuz you didn't look like an undefeated promo team to me. Granted I haven't been around div 2 vmsl in a couple years, but I was expecting more, especially in a cup final. A couple talented players, and a bunch that struggled (on that day, at least) to make a 10 yard pass.
The teams from the Richmond league (and no, I don't play there, so there's no bias) should kill you guys in PG. I say 'should,' and not 'will' cuz you never know what's gonna happen.
I think I heard some dude named Marko taking credit amongst the elders for making NK what it is. Apparently his friends agreed with him. .

TS.........I was thinking about you guys as I looked at you're 03/04 plaque on the Leo Belivaqua Memorial Trophy. (Remember squeaking by us 1-0 at hastings bowl in the quarters). As always you are on the mark. Our players that returned from injury/suspension were fighting the ball all day, especially those ten foot passes you noticed. However we shouldn't discredit The Hurricanes by thinking these players could miss a month and step in not looking rusty. The only thing Marko can take credit for is his contribution to global warming for all the hot air he releases. That and the 05/06 cup final loss where he and the ref played a 50/50 part in that debacle (he took me out with 25 left and his goalie Fcbytca no showed). If you say all his friends agreed with him that means nobody did. Oh and by the way, tell all those wannabe teams from Richmond not to play on the tracks in PG because the train it is a cummin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Without Marco, many players who currently reside on the NK roster would probably not be there. Give the credit where the credit is due. That is all.

It was kind of an embarrassing final to play in this year. The pace of the game was severely lacking on both ends of the pitch. It was obvious that both teams were unconditioned. Anyway it was a class performance by Punjab Hurricanes, good luck to them in PG!

SlayRad it is nice to see you do well. A class act guy is always there. I did see Marco with a group of twenty year olds in Burnaby. Just to let you know he will do well again.

Crappy way to end the season in pk's....again! Great season for us though! Our goal at the start was promotion, and a job well one to the boys who accomplished that. Our hearts never really seemed into the game from the get go yesterday..not anywhere near the level we usually play at.

As four our sidelines, the guy who was "yapping" and never saw the pitch is actually our starting centre mid and started on our Premier team two seasons ago. He got hurt in the first half against NK last week and was no where near 100% to play this week. He threw on his uni for the team pic that we had before the game and tried to run in the warmup, but our coach made the decision not to put him and risk further injury.

An ex-TTPer too........or is he still a TTPer?

Can anyone from NK comment on a young player on the squad named anthony. he would a striker i beleive. just wondering how he did in his first season in the big show.

He was a great addition...

For the finals itself, he made a few runs in OT by himself that made us sit on the edge of our seats.

Fast, intelligent young player. Fast enough for div. 2. but give him a few games in Div. 1 to get used to the game and show what he's really about. Look forward to next year.

After watching the video of the cup final NK had possesion 60 - 40 we should have won by 2 or 3 hitting a post and a crossbar!Im shocked that The Hurricanes beat DPR in their semi!Anyways I told yall we would win everything now there is just one more cup to win and thats gonna happen trust me!
