Posting bets before the event is all about transparency. It is the easiest way to keep track of one another's bets. It would be easy to have WillHill calculate a bet's payout then take note of it and not actually risk the money. Then if it's a winner, claim it as such on TTP without risking the cash and add the fake proceeds to an imaginary (or real) $20 pot. I'm not saying that anyone has done this but it is the primary reason for posting bets before the event.

Having said this, I would imagine that the account history of anyone claiming an overall win would have to be thoroughly examined before they can claim the prize.

In my opinion, SYC should still be in the competition unpenalized save for not being able to claim the unposted bets' winnings. It is no one's fault but his own and claiming such a technicality as he has flies in the face of common sense.
