Carlo Basso manhandled the Hurricanes defense to be honest. It seemed like it was a game of men against boys.

RMD PEG 1-1 Richmond were the better team in the first half. Peg grew stronger throughout the second. Bogus second yellow shown to C-Mac for (I believe) not retreating 10 yds on a free kick. You might have forgiven the Ref had the ball been stationary when it was kicked...

That was a bit of a head scratcher that call, but by the letter of the law, he deserved to be sent off.

As mentioned, I thought we were the better team in the first half, and we rightly deserved to have the lead going into halftime. Second half we started slowly and Peg had the lions share of possession. With 15 to go CMAC is sent off, they push bodies forward, and get their reward with their first effort on target all game with 5 minutes to go. Disappointing to let 2 points slip away, but a fair result in the end.

WTF moment of the game goes to CJ who after falling over in the box fishing for a call, and is rightly told where he can go. Proceeds to get up, start shouting the odds back and proclaiming "he'll see us all after the game" OK champ, just focus on representing BC at Nationals in a few weeks time, I wish them good luck.

Prediction time...but the real question: Will Regs offer a bet this week after being bested on his Matchday 2 wager??

Metro Ford v Chile
A couple of close losses to start the season for EDC who by all accounts are playing well, but let's be honest here; the league champions showed their class last week vs. Tigers. Three more points for the Coquitlam boys.

Croatia v Tigers
Well, isn't this a conundrum? Tigers were mauled last week by Coquitlam on a Friday night, meanwhile Croatia put 6 past Columbus. I don't think Croatia is as good as the 6 goals they put up against a newly promoted team and the fact that they conceded 3 in doing so makes me think Soolsma should be able to find space to operate. I'll take Tigers to recapture their offensive touch en route to a W.

Pegasus v WestVan
MOTW. A showdown of last season's 2nd and 3rd place finishers. Peg were somewhat surprisingly held to a draw by Richmond last week while West Van were romping to a 4-0 over newly promoted Westside. Again, much like Croatia, I'm not convinced by that scoreline over a newly promoted team and on the road in Surrey I'll back Peg to bounce back with a win.

Inter v Richmond
This game is happening....?? (Shows crossed out, aka "tentative", on the website I assume due to field conflicts??). Assuming it goes ahead Richmond seem to be the VMSL's draw specialists, so I'll say that continues this week.

North Delta v Columbus
ND seem to be adjusting to Premier life much better than their promoted cousins. For the second time already they play a fellow promoted team and they are in fine form at the moment. We'll soon get a better read on where they really stand in this division, but for now another 3 points.

Westside v Pacific
Westside were swept aside by the experienced West Van last week, but now play at home for the first time. Things won't get any easier this week (or any week for that matter) but their park does offer a slight home field advantage. I know I am being harsh on Pacific seemingly weekly but a 1-1 against newly promoted North Delta certainly doesn't have me lining up in their corner. I'll say Westside is desperate enough to claw out a draw.

Inter vs Richmond must be postponed at the request of one of the clubs. There's no way they got bumped off Empire for an O45 Div 1 match.

2-2 between Croatia and Rovers Tigers tonight.

Caught second half. Seemed fairly even game. Dunno how first two goals went but Tigers looked to have won it when they headed home a corner to go 2-1 up, but Croatia pushed hard in closing minutes, having a shot cleared off line then grabbed stoppage time equaliser with second left.

I heard Richmond have a team wedding, seriously.
Caught croatia/ rovers, pretty fast game, thought croatia had the better of it though

Sources south of the river have ND losing a man to a straight red for an ill conceived poorly executed bicycle kick. Columbus use their extra man to romp to a 3-0.

Bycycle kick attempt top of the box, defenders do what they do, Straight red card. 44th min.
You give a maybe yellow on that play in every league in the world. I have never seen a red card on any gone wrong offensive bike in my life. Someone show me a clip of one out there. And I would get it if the bike attempt breaks a guy's face or something in a crazy way, or theres's blood, or a broken nose. But tonight, none of the above. Guy played on the 90.

And, Already down 1-0 on a questionable pk call in the 30th. He killed our guys mentally by the half. We had to open up 2nd half as you would and it just wasn't our night. In any sense of it.

Columbus played well enough to be in the lead first half. 1-0 would have been a fair half time score. But going down a man like that tonight was awful. really killed the night for a good match. How you make that call to ruin a competitive game is so strange to me.

Sour grapes.

Watched Westside vs Pacific. Westside was the far better team with their pace and home field advantage. Almost a different game with the smaller parameters at Musquem Turf. All 4 Westside goals were pure class strikes, they were unstoppable by the keeper. The fact that the keeper managed to get his fingertips to a few of them was already a miracle. Westside have a winger who is extremely talented and scored two goals today, an amazing free kick and a snipe from the top of the box. The whole team works hard and presses hard. Pacific have skill going forward but their defensive shape is questionable, really seems like a bunch of individuals (perhaps the Real Madrid idea until they actually formed a squad). Well deserved 4-0 for the newly promoted squad.

Looks like Westside have a healthy dose of current UBC talent... Did they just arrive this week to turn things around, or have they been there since the 1st game?

They'll have to wait until the CIS season is over to get any actual help from UBC.

Whatever red shirts they might have in the squad have been there from Day 1.
