Aside from the 'no beer near the change room' rule and having to stand in the parking lot for a pint the affair went well.

Why in the hell can't we have a pint in a change room after a game? Over f*&(ing 35's on a Friday night and we have to stand in a blood parking lot in the rain to have a beer.

At this time of the season there should be no drinking - this is serious soccer ....

Agreed - teams with no beer in the changing rooms should not be allowed in the league.

Update: VFF 3-1 over Wickham.....good clean game,crappy field(Hastings bowl North)...no lines on the park..and who carries nets?..we don't...mad scramble to HomeDepot for some white marking paint and a panicked call to another member not on our team..we managed to get nets,flags and the field done,game started 15 mins late..or so..anyway..good day for a run about.

With Sapp winning their last two games and Now being tied with Columbas
with 30 points
doesn't that make the VMSL 4 league Master Prov spots

With WV having to beat FF in the Masters cup to get into the final two spots
for Prov. ?
I have seen a couple of comments stating that Columbas & Sapp have to playoff ?

4 semifinalists of the Masters League Cup get berths, plus the 2 top point getters in the league.

Thus, even the Master Idiots can still get in to the big dance

Because MF has "2" spots, it goes to the next highest point-getter in the overall standings that does not have a spot which is Columbus/Sapp.

U21: 4 League, 0 Cup (unbelievable)
Masters: 2 League, 4 Cup

Lets have some consistency. Only 2 from league is harsh. It should be the other way around.

But I completely agree with WAB. seems a little backwards that only two teams make it in from the league and the rest is based on cup.

This is all BC soccer's doing I understand. The Masters format (for the VMSL spots anyway) should mirror the Prem. format. Having Inter and either Columbus or Sapperton not in the Provincials waters down that competition in my view.

Contrary to the views expressed above ... I think having a team get in via the league by utilizing the CAT system and then putting forward a team that cannot compete once in the BCs is utterly shamefull. I think it was the right decision to go with more berths on the Cup and less on the league was right for the over 35s - however we should have had two more berths overall to avoid this issue.
Sir M - remember that if we stumbled in the Cup we would not be in - given that you have us ranked number 1 - I think not having two of Sapp, Columbus and Inter out now is the better alternative.... in my "humble" opinion.

We went with 2 and 4 last year if memory serves. My point is the VMSL should have 8 spots, 4 from the league, and 4 from the cup semi finalists, same as Premier.

The excellent site is reporting that the only cup games scheduled for this weekend are Good Friday at 1000 Westside A vs Westside Bulldogs at Point Grey, and the winner of that game plays Richmond on Monday eve at the same venue.

It appears that the VMSL has determined that Westside Bulldogs are the #3 Div 1 qualifier. The only explanation for this would be that both PCOV Lusitanos and 22nd Avenue Lions (best team name in Master's football) have voluntarily backed out of cup competition, as they both have shots at 3rd spot in Div 1.

The North Shore League has only 14 teams in their league but manage to get 3 spots. VMSL has 42 teams for only 6. 4 spots for 27 teams on the Island. The other 3 go to the Valley and they have only 8 teams! Can this be correct?

It should be:
VMSL - 7
Island - 5
Valley - 2
N. Shore - 2

It was good to finally play a game. Nothing much to report. We had control of the game. Carl hit the goalie so many times that he went down (shot to the pills).

I heard they tied their last game - still undefeated, but not a season of complete wins.

From the B-team, we only had Bobby Haz (49 yrs old, but still a force to be reckoned with any day in Premiere) and Miguel (who made 7 people look stupid while the rest of the players watched, but then kicked the ball out of bounds by himself)

So this evening, a pretty big game in the VMSL, Westside against Richmond United, with a shot at the A Cup and a spot at the Provincials on the line, I think it is at 630 PM at Point Grey turf. Any thoughts or comments from anyone? Freddy? Peter? T-Idiot (sorry)? Anyone else? Kind of drawn right in WS' back yard...two teams that probably are both better on grass...

I will go with 2-1 Westside.
