Totally agree. The only teams surviving the jump up to Div 1 without changing their line-ups significantly are teams that have a VERY easy time in Div 2 (Cliff Ave comes to mind). Even though NK peaked at the right time of year they were still not remotely impressive or dominating. They squeaked out all their wins. Not taking anything away from their Cup victory as they got on a good roll and all the power to them but come on - they better be adding plenty of players.
We will keep you all posted as to our ongoing debate of moving up or not.
At the moment the team is weighing out the options of moving up or remaining in Div 2.
One of the possibilities some of the guys have discussed is working with another club and merging creating Signmaster A and B. Signmaster "B" would move up to Div 1 and Signmaster "A" would remain in Div 2.
Some of the teams that have contacted us have been from the Vancouver league and some are from outside (surprised us, i didn't realize div 2 soccer got so much press). End result we still don't know exactly what we will do.
So bitter. But a couple things. How many games did you actually watch? And
4-0 vs Afghanistan, 4-0 vs Alemania (who were promoted), 2-0 vs Shaheen (nearly promoted)
Were those "squeaked out"? This isn't the CFL.
No doubt NK would need to add some players to survive Div 1, but just a few really here and there. Otherwise the main challenge would be retaining most everyone and finding the same commitment throughout the season that we did during the Cup (though we still missed two of our most valuable players in the Final).
