MOTW for group B: TSA Royals FC v PCOV 'A'

Last match was a hard fought 1-0 PCOV win with a late goal in the 80+ minute. Hopefully a different result this week.

Weather prediction: It gonna be COLD. Bring your ear-muffs.

This week's predictions:

North Shore Reds 2
Signmaster SC 1

Surrey STU 0
Vancouver Stars 3

GFC United Lions 2
Point Grey Rangers 3

Sarajevo FC 1
Desmesh FC 3

Other than Desmesh, a very tight division. DPR and us are sitting at 8 games only so we'll see how those results affect the standings but teams 2-5 are tight with Signmaster, GFC and Van Stars capable of beating any of them.

North Shore Reds 0
Signmaster SC 3

Surrey STU 2
Vancouver Stars 3

GFC United Lions 0
Point Grey Rangers 2

Sarajevo FC 0
Desmesh FC 0

Douglas Park 3
Socceroos 1

Gonna predict a 2-0 victory for the Royals tonight to hand PCOV their first loss.

Who thinks the North Shore Reds will win? they have 40 GA over 11 games.

Sadly, that doesn't even compete with Zawisza's 54 against in 9 games. 6ga/game. Shocking is all I can say. But really, who would predict a North Shore win? Oh yeah, someone on the NS team.

Bosna 2
Yaletown 1

Good game, hard fought on both sides. Plenty of chances, Bosnas keeper probably had best game of the season.

North Shore is a better team than their record indicates. They just picked up a couple of players that will help them in the 2nd half of the season. I'm not predicting they beat Desmesh, but they can certainly stir it up...

From what I've heard, the ref pretty much handed the game to Bosna. Yaletown keeper sent off, more than half of yaletown booked, and the winning goal blatantly offside. Full marks to Bosna for the win, it's not your fault the ref was a twat, but at least try to tell the whole story.

TSA Royals FC 3 - PCOV 'A' 1

PCOV notched the first goal of the match on what must be considered one of the best strikes of the season. It occured off a free kick layed off to their midfielder who struck the ball from 35+ yards out and scorched it off the crossbar and into the back of the net. TSA came back with 3 unanswered and then put on a clinic of how to shut a game down. PCOV had no meaningful chances after TSA's second goal, and TSA should have potted more but for lack of finish. All in all, an impressive victory.

There were two offsetting reds approximately 20 minutes? into the game. One of our players came in with a late challenge on a player who had tripped over a teammate, and another of their players proceded to shove our player to the ground as he got up. They were harsh cards, but not at all unexplainable - they were easily interpretible as letter of the law calls, and I viewed it as good game management, as it quickly squashed any afters for the rest of the game.

In summation, a huge victory for the TSA, espcially in lieu of Yaletown's loss to Bosna. With 16 of a possible 18 points collected from our past 6 games we have to be considered one of the hottest teams in Div. 2. Will it be enough to counter the absolutely shocking 0-4 start to our season? Now if only HNK could pull off a loss as well.

Squamish 1-0 over UBC.

Windy and cold, but an entertaining game to watch. A stupid penalty given by the UBC right back gave the only goal of the game. UBC didn't seem to have much on the day aside a few late free kicks, one of which dipped at the last second on the Squamish keeper, which he managed to fist over the bar.

Saw a couple Shaheen guys out to watch the game, props to them for taking the drive out.

GFC full marks for the win as PGR had a stinker. Lucky to keep it 1-0...should have been more.

3-3 DPR and Roos,

Exciting, fast-paced and hard checking game. Too bad the ref tried his best to ruin the game, but in the end his piss-poor performance had little impact on the final result as a draw was deserved. However, I can see why the Roos are not that well respected in the league. They have these two drunken buffons that appear to have leached onto the team and have no idea about the sport. They both wear god-awful yellow hoodies and look like two over-stuffed banana peels. The crap that comes out of their mouths is neither witty nor original. There were several Roos that say that they are embarrassed by these two jokers and then to see that these guys came to shake our hands after the game which indicates that they are actually part of the team? Go and watch UFC instead or dog-fighting as it would be a far better fit. You both are too drunk and thick to ever be funny or welcome at a soccer match...

And one of the buffoons makes his way on to TTP too! I'm sure we'll hear from him when he wakes up...

Socceroos are having a very good season by their standards. I keep waiting for them to implode but so far they are getting results so good on them.

That's because the only good team in Div II c this year is Desmesh.

Nice prediction on the Desmesh-Sarajevo match, Bandcamp....

It was a tough game. The field was in no way playable completely rock hard. Only reason the ref played it was because they begged him too.

If Sarajevo has that ref more often, no team in Div 2 will have a chance of beating them. He was an eastern European, who didn't want to upset their sideline or their players. As soon as we scored our goal, he completely changed the game.

Hard to play when every 50/50 ball is against you and any chance you create he brings back as offside.

Dude, give your head a shake. There was a game before us and on the field next to us, so there was no “begging” involved. Game was though and ref was making mistakes on both sides (he is not eastern European and last time we had him he gave us red and 3 yellow cards). Be honest, admit that teams were equal and you were actually lucky to get a point. You guys have a good team and you will do ok in 1st division. There is no need to blame ref for the first loss of points.

The field we played on was protected from the sun by the trees, so the sun couldn't really make it any softer. The thing was a rock and the field down the hill had no shadows.

That might explain why the ref was trying so hard to please you guys.

And I don't get how we were lucky to get a point when you guys tied us in the second half.

I didn't mind the game at all, as you guys seemed to have added some players since we played you last. Would have much rather played on a decent field with a better ref though.
