Yes, an impressive result even if it is a loss.
Did the 13th legion team change much from last year? I feel that they are underachieving with a pretty decent line-up.

They have lost a couple key guys to injury and work and have been struggling to get 12 or 13 to each game

Doesn't matter. We'll beat them in our last game. Took points off Gastown and Greencaps the last two weekends.

Guildford ran away with 2A, and it looks like South Delta have won 2B unless Snipers can get that decision overturned, which would seem unlikely.

Are they strong enough to make it to Premier within the next 2-3 years?

For. Sure. Really strong team that needs to add some depth and keep building on what they have but 2-3 years and they could make, and stay in, Premier ball.

Are these Snipers by any chance, a "ethnic team" from the middle east region of the world?

There are a couple of players from the Middle East ( Iran) on the Sniper's squad. The rest of the team is very diverse, ranging from good ol' Canada, States, Germany, Ghana, Pakistan, Indonesia, etc.

If I'm not mistaken, they got into Div 2. because a number of teams folded-Saudi Arabia FC is one that comes to mind. Same reason why Cosmos sneaked into 2A.

Can definitely see Guilford playing Prem footie in the nxt 2 seasons. On the other hand, Delta boys will drop back down.... Harps FC stylezzz.

Some teams did get in to Div 2 due to previous teams folding, however I distinctly recall seeing the preseason divisional setup with Snipers, Greencaps, & Strikers being the only team moving up from Div 3 to Div 2. This of course being after the Snipers lost the Div 3 promotion playoff to Guildford. When I asked around I was told they had protested to BC Soccer because they felt that since they finished with more points than Guildford (even though they were in different groups and played different opposition) they should get the spot.

After getting smashed by them in early January, a few of us were comparing Guildford to Romania, who went up from our division last year.

Some thought Romania was better, but personally I think Guildford is. Guildford is definitely a lot younger. I can see them hanging around in Div 1 for a couple years while they gain experience and add players.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye on how they fair.

All this talk about Guildford makes me feel better about being a Div. 3 team that held them scoreless for half a Cup game. Don't think their current lineup is quite strong enough for them to plan the parade to Premier yet, but since they're definitely young enough to have lots of parents out for their games, I guess they've got time to get stronger. Biggest think I noticed was that they wasted a lot of chances against us by shooting too early or from too far out - a Div. 1 (as opposed to Div. 3) level back line could really frustrate them. Hope they manage to get smarter, too.

So your div 3 team kept Guildford off the scoresheet for half a game? That also would mean they conceded 6 goals in 45mins. Ouch.

Yes it does. It also means that the two guys on the back line with 35 year old legs who will be moving up to our masters' team next season played one half of brilliant ball before they got gassed, and we didn't have anybody to come in for them off the bench. Then again, this is the same back line that beat your team the week before.

Does anyone know how Provincial spots will be allocated? I seem to remember last year the 3 div winners and cup winners got in, but obviously its a bit different this year.
