The rules:

-You get $10,000 to purchase 5 stocks ($2000 must be spent on each stock).
-Your purchase price is the closing price on the day (not the low of the day), and you must hold the stocks (no day-to-day flipping).

-TTPers portfolios can be followed to see who has the highest % return.

My stock picks:
50.91 shares of Sony (SNE) (current price $39.28)
181.8 shares of NVIDIA (NVDA) (Current price $11)
89.6 shares of Bristol Myers (BMY) (current price $22.31)
389.9 shares of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) (current price $5.13)
4 shares of Google (current price $495)

By the way, Regs, when is TTP.com going public?

You like your semi conductor business, interesting to pick NVidia and AMD at the same time, they should move in opposite directions.

I'll get in on this when I've had a few less beers.

KJ...Which one will go in which direction? I'm guessing AMD is the worse of the two picks? Nvidia seems totally underpriced right now.

What is the time period for this? Is this just a daily comparison of who is winning, or is it a 1 year term to see who can make the most of the $10k?

We can compare monthly and pick a new portfolio in a 6 months to a year if we want to change it up a bit. People can join whenever they want since they can't make their purchase prices retroactive.

KJ...looks like you called it: A Rarity As Of Late: Advantage AMD: Financial News - Yahoo! Finance

Should be an interesting day tomorrow for one or both stocks. I don't like how AMD decided to announce this just prior to NVDA announcing their earnings tomorrow. Bought 250 shares of NVDA today as well as got suckered into a spec stock that was down 20% within minutes of the purchase.

For those keeping score at home, my portfolio was up 1% for the day. I think I am in the lead.

Sounds good, Stallion. I'll enter it all in a portfolio tracker. I gave you LULU at yesterday's closing price of 22.70. With a P/E of 44 and a 50 cent drop to start the day, it's the least I can do for you.;)

Oops. My price was Nasdaq's share price not the TSE's. My bad.

Bluenose, I'll do the same for your portfolio.

And to make sure you're not cheating I've put mine on Globeinvestor :) I assume you're using the same?

OK, this sounds fun.

I suppose these sites are "Mock" trader type sites? Link a brother up.

This will be fun...maybe I'll be good enough to fire my investor guy.

Dude...I use yahoo finance: Yahoo! Canada Finance

A good starting point as well for ideas is Jim JubaK on MSN Money:

Jim Jubak Article Index - MSN Money

Pick 5 companies and I will take care of the rest.

Because some stocks are CDN, others are US, and I base everything in US funds, our records might not be exact. Here are what my records note so far

Dial: + $61.74
Ital Stallion -$105
JohnnyBN -$112.50
