Any thoughts on the first hockey matches.....

Gentlemen,

Do we have any early thoughts on the first three hockey games of the season? I am calling a tie between Dal/Col, and wins for Los Angeles and the Rangers.

Win Match Win

2.50 Dallas V Colorado 1.58

2.10 N Y Rangers V Carolina 1.76

Bet Until : 03:35 10/10/2002

Win Match Win

2.40 Phoenix V Los Angeles 1.62

and with the puck line.....

Odds Spread Competitors Spread Odds

2.00 +0.5 Dallas V Colorado -0.5 1.83

1.74 +0.5 N Y Rangers V Carolina -0.5 2.15

Bet Until : 03:35 10/10/2002

Odds Spread Competitors Spread Odds

1.90 +0.5 Phoenix V Los Angeles -0.5 1.90

For all the Sports Action players, look at the prices that are offered on Willhill compared to those shizer odds...

6 WED-OCT 09 5:00 PM HKY DALLAS COLORADO 2.25 5.55 1.60 -0.5
7 WED-OCT 09 5:00 PM HKY NEW YORK - R CAROLINA 2.05 5.75 1.70 -0.5
8 WED-OCT 09 7:30 PM HKY PHOENIX LOS ANGELES 2.00 5.60 1.75 -0.5

If you bet on the Money Line rather than the puck line and the game is a tie, you get your money back on a push. On the SA, you're done, if it is a tie, that is unless you actually choose a tie.

Anyway, what are your thoughts on the first three games?

Good shout Regs...

Any Strategy to betting on hockey? Other than just picking the winner? Are combo's preferred or are spreads better?

This game scares me....
Phoenix has owned the Kings the past couple of seasons. I dont expect anything different.

Take the Coyotes!!!!!

This is an intriguing (sp?) bet...in that, it could easily go either way.
I personally like the UNDER 15.5

But, with the new rule changes, the refs may make a statement and call a sh*t load of penalties, thus allowing for more PP opportunites....teams like LA and Col are lethal on the PP.

I would stay away from the GRAND SALAMI's until I get a better feel as to how the games are being called.

I like the CANES in their season opener, and the UNDER.

Phil,

Recent years past the opening nights have been relatively high scoring.........so I'd bet it will be over!

As for the Kings vs Phoenix game..............wouldn't touch it either.

Well it should make tonight interesting as I've got all three games on the tube :D The interesting part has to do with dealing with what the bird has to say about it

Put $10 on the Canes and the Avalanche but forgot to bet on baseball. I too like Zaurini's pick of the Cards. The Giants, while on a high from beating a feeble Braves team, will be dazzled by the artistry of Matt Morris while the Cards deep bench will overcome the loss of Scott Rolen.

I didn't bet on the baseball either BUT I would go with San Francisco. Reuter is 5 - 0 with a 2.27 ERA in St. Louis. Rolens is a bigger loss than you think, One Dart. Also, Morris is a fossil and is due to be rocked. Bonds has done well against him. San Fran should win 5 - 2. As for my hockey selections, I made a $10 bet on Dallas, NY Rangers, and Los Angeles . Right now the scores are 1 - 0 for Dallas/NYR mid-way through the second period. I am a little worried about the Phx/LA game but if these games stay the way they are, I will do a little cover bet. It's all about angles after all.......

I think that I am simply going to quit gambling altogether. Right now, Dallas is up 1-0, NY is winning 4-0, and San Fran is up 7-3. My only question is this: Back when I had money in my account, why Tilly, did you only ever pick losers for me?

I hope that doesn't include our Football bets. Although for me it's hardly like gambling more like taking candy from a baby...

I took Col, NY and LA plus a fiver on the under. Dal and Col tied at the end of regulation does overtime count when you make your picks for win/loss?

Pipo, do you have to be a member of the mafia to get 2.10 for the "Grand Salami"? I only got 1.86.

WTF?

My only question is this: Back when I had money in my account, why Tilly, did you only ever pick losers for me?
I picked MANY winners for you my friend. You just chose not to follow them.........Let me refresh your memory......

Once again, the punters at Beverley must have been reading TTP last night(early morning their time) as my 6th winning NAP in the last 8 days came through by 2 lengths. Unfortunately, the odds were not 2.25 but 1.61. Nevertheless, a $10 profit on a favorite is better than a $2 loss on a long shot. Oui, monsieur?

16/07/2002 Bet ITI: PLATINUM DUKE 2-15 BEVERLEY @ 8/13 FAV W (1... 30.00 48.46

GOLAN with Kieran Fallon on board. It had a great year last year, and should be fresh for the race. He should go off at about 8/1........This is the value bet as the favorite will go off at about 7/4(2.75). This is too short for a race of this caliber.....
For a straight out winner, go for Russian Rhythm in the 2:35 at Ascot who is coming out of stall 7 in the 6 furlong contest. It should be 2nd favorite at a decent price
Placed : 27/07/2002 06:53:39 Bet Type : Singles Stake : 25.00

Golan also won but I only had $10 on it.....

Back in business with the NAPs Captain

27/07/2002 Bet ITI: GOLAN 3-50 ASCOT @ 11/2 W (1/5) 10.00 65.00

NAP - Gargoyle Girl 2:20 at Pontefract

NB - True Night 4:10 at Brighton

1st 4 GUDLAGE 13.00
2nd 8 GARGOYLE GIRL 4.50
3rd 6 CYBER SANTA 6.50

Tricast 4 beat 8 and 6 261.00

1st 8 TRUE NIGHT 2.75 FAV
2nd 10 IT'S OUR SECRET 17.00
3rd 12 MOVING EXPERIEN' 9.00

Forecast 8 beat 10 33.48
Tricast 8 beat 10 and 12 198.00

Here are the two picks for tomorrow and they will both be good prices...

(NAP) 2:05 Ascot - Prince Nureyev

(NB) - 2:40 Newmarket - Soviet Song

3-20 NEWMARKET - 8 runners Places Paid 1,2 and 3 @ 1/5 odds
Off at 15:21:54

1st 10 SOVIET SONG 5.00
2nd 11 SUMMITVILLE 7.00
3rd 8 MISS ASSERTIVE 34.00

So, my NAPs are now a positive $60 with the above win

How soon they forget.........

I do remember. What I remember is you posting your NAP, having it lose and then you posting about how the other horses you picked won. As for the last one:

(NAP) 2:05 Ascot - Prince Nureyev

(NB) - 2:40 Newmarket - Soviet Song

3-20 NEWMARKET - 8 runners Places Paid 1,2 and 3 @ 1/5 odds
Off at 15:21:54

1st 10 SOVIET SONG 5.00
2nd 11 SUMMITVILLE 7.00
3rd 8 MISS ASSERTIVE 34.00

Forecast 10 beat 11 28.49

You put down the wrong race and I couldn't find it. Don't tell me about forgetting. I never forget.

For the games tomorrow, Philadelphia and Detroit will be a great double price. Philly will dominate a brutal Edmonton team and Detroit will squeak out a 1 goal win over SJ........NYI/Buf will tie again(they always do)......
