A big meal of backfat was served up to the defending champs late in the game. With under 10 minutes left, the rag tag Mobility squad who had been thoroughly out-played all game, take advantage of the tired opposition with 3 unanswered goals and take the 3-1victory. The next game should be a good one!!!

That last game report should read "after sleep-walking for 80 minutes, Bonefish and Co. woke up and made a game out of it."

Basically, we came out flat in the 2nd half and didn't shoot when we had chances. Mobility scored on a lucky bounce in the box (ball came back to their striker off the crossbar), then took advantage of us pushing too many players forward too often.

Must state however, that I wasn't on the field for the last 2 goals...:D

How many players were you guys missing? You said rag-tag, but it looked like there were a few left overs from last year. SCP is out of commission, so we had our backup keeper in, and our shoot-and-score-from-anywhere striker was missing. Rest of the side is back, but as you noted, definited faded as the game progressed. At least I have an excuse - I'm old...:D

bzzrs still tasted good afterward. Note to team: need at least another 24 for next week's game.

I heard the lone female player was running circles around you trece, any truth to that?
She also rang one off the cross bar which resulted in a goal.

Umm, no. That would have been the midfielder in front of me. Same said midfielder also missed a gaping wide open net when it was still 1-0 for us...

Sounds good, but not quite. She was inside the 6 and hit the ball nearly straight up. It bounced back off the crossbar right to their striker who tapped it in. More of a dull "thunk" than a "ring."

Were you playing?

We were missing two of our more competent offensive players and one stalwart defender/midfielder. That plus some new faces made for some disorganized soccer. If you had scored a 2nd goal that would have been the difference but the 1-0 scoreline for most of the match left you open for the "Rope-A-Dope". :D

We may have another female join us in a few weeks to put some more Telus-league'rs to shame.

AC Metro 5 Seymour 1

Not even a close one, as Seymour could only muster 10 players on the night. A few ugly moments when we played down to their level, but for the most part controlled ball with too much time spent looking for the perfect finish:rolleyes: .

Bones, over to you....

We only had 2 subs for the 1st half and 1 sub for the 2nd in a game which again saw us start slow and then come on later in the game. The first goal was scored by maplewood in the 2nd half on a through ball that was nicely slotted in the corner. Maplewood had chances all game for more but couldn't finish. That came back to haunt them as we converted with 15 left. The pressure was mostly in their end for the last 20min but we were unable to get more.
1-1 was the end result

Mobility 3 vs Sales 2.
We went down by 2 goals but managed to bounce back despite having only 11 players for most of the game. In what is becoming our theme for this year, the "come back kids" needed some late game heroics, which included a diving save on a PK with 0 seconds on the clock to save the game.

You're playing in goal?

Seymour 2 Wayburne 5
AC Metro 5 Maplewood 2

One bad own-goal to start by Maplewood, then two more for us on breakaways set up by yours truly. Maplewood tried to make a game of it, but didn't have the oomph to transition from midfield to the final third often enough.

Seeing a bit too much of Hollywood lately (yes, he refs in this league too), but we almost got him to move more than 15 yards either side of centre :D.

Next up: rematch with the "comeback kids" on Mobility.

Mobility 1 AC Metro 1

Fairly even game with BoneyFish not getting much of a sniff. One for us early on, and then the even-up on a bogus penalty by one of the worst refs this side of Herb or Father John...

Yes, their guy was taken down (outside the box) but managed to roll about 5 yards into it - no mean feat for a guy his size, too. By the time Mr. Incomprehensible caught up to the play, he'd decided to point to the spot. Our keeper guessed right and got fingertips to the ball, but not enough to keep it out. Thanks a heap, "ref..."

To their credit, Mobility had a legit chance that went off the outside of the post, but neither side was able to finish after that.

Who's next?

It was a close game in the first 10min and the latter part of the 2nd half but AC Metro should have put away a 11person side including this here "fish" who was into his 2nd game in 24hrs. The ref is indeed brutal. So much so that he must ruin about 4outof5 of the games he officiates. As Trece mentioned, the legit chance was near the end of the game and the ball careened off the post and sat nicely for a couple of seconds. Had our mobility side had more gas in the tank, there might have been a ready foot to complete the comeback.
