As long as you don't play Taxman, looks like money in the bank for you guys to jump further up.

Cheers as usual Sir M.

Hey Ranger,
Does Fraser Ross still play for you guys ? He is the big guy that looks like Hoss from Bonanza. He told me he was going to coach when they toasted their current one - made some comparison to Crawford in LA .....

Toes MeeOldeSparra,
Could you possibly add a few more icons to your next post, the last one looks like a bloody Christmas tree. As for the AllBlacks season, look for Umaga making his debut in two weeks against PA. Randy Slick never did repay beers so this contest could be a wee bit nasty. Bystander, please see me in the office after school; we need to talk about punctuation and grammar.
PS Bring the wee Buddha Gameboy with ya.

Well Sir M - start moving us up. Tonight's 3-1 disposal at SFU on a crunchy field was a demonstration that we are for real when we need to be. Although not pretty to watch at times our first goal was picture perfect. Our highly talented right back made a beautiful 70 yard dash and put in a cross that Andy M didn't even have to move for - 1-0. I can't see how with 2 wins we cannot be anything but top 4 .... you should agree - you've played us :)

Thanks Taxman. Lobbying always works. But of course bribery works better. Just ask SCK.

Way to go on your victory.

Now, now Sir M. I seem to recall us "sharing" the salsice. BTW: we may have to make it a Summer Barbecue the way its going.

Nice win, Taxman. Just be careful...After your many ties last year, we wouldn't want to jinx the great Provincial run of last year...

Now get to bed.

.. Just read the news about soccer and bribery - only the Italians do that ... or can I say that on this board - OK - only they have been caught. Was it SCK that was doing the bribery - and he plays for ... ??? ... case in point.

Hmm. Brings me back to the 1978 World Cup in S. America. I recall a very good player who was not allowed to play in the finale....We all know who won that game.

I don't think THAT many Italians live in Argentina though.

BTW: I will not admit to doing anything illegal up to this point. We haven't even played in four weeks. Much to the dismay of many teams...

Sorry Cheatin' Kid

Ok, on this snowy Sunday, all bear cubs are now accounted for, all lobbying has been done, bribes accepted, stories are all straight, and results are in. Bit of a slow week again, so a few sartorial comments are mixed in, just for fun. But, enough small talk now, it is time once again for this week's edition of:

Sir M's Excellent Power Rankings:

1. Surrey United. (VMSL. Last week's rank: 1). Their big game against Inter this week was cancelled, next up home to # 12 Wickham a week today. Who will wear the power reds on Sunday?

2. Sapperton Rovers. (VMSL. Last week's rank: 2). Another top ranked side who did not play this week. Away to Columbus next week will be a good test. One guy wears a helmet on this team.

3. Metro Ford Wolves. (VMSL. Last week's rank: 4). Possibly dodged a bullet over at Ambleside, and did not play this week. Away to PCOV this weekend.

4. Surrey F.C. Rangers. (FVSL. Last week's rank: 9). A big leap for the 03-04 Provincial Champs after they took over 1st place in the FVSL with their second emphatic win a row, this time against the powerhouse All Blacks. But they have unattractive uniforms, it has to be said. Especially the whites.

5. Westside F.C. "A". (VMSL. Last week's rank: 3). Down two spots after not scoring against Wickham, a side who coming in had conceded 21 goals. Got the tie though. Hosting Firemen at Hillcrest this weekend in a huge match. But white is not slimming. Seriously.

6. ICSF Inter. (VMSL. Last week's rank: 5). Once again were cancelled. Staff are concerned over this side's only playing 7 games thus far. Pretty good sense of style. SFU next.

7. West Van F.C. (VMSL. Last week's rank: 6). Also idle this last week, down one. Richmond away next. Only one idiot has shown up in white shoes thus far this year.

8. Vancouver Firefighters. (VMSL. Last week's rank: 8). Maintain their spot after their 3-1 defeat of SFU Friday evening. The black kit is nice, but, staff note, an inordinate amount of porn star moustaches on this side. Away to Westside next, a chance to move up.

9. Columbus F.C. (VMSL. Last week's rank: 7). Also didn't play, drop a couple spots due to wins by other sides in this area of the rankings. Host Sapperton next, could leap way up with a win. Beautiful uniforms, white shoes, but if you are over 230 pounds, no headbands. Please.

10. Peace Arch United. (FVSL. Last week's rank: 10). Also idle this last week. Play the mighty All Blacks this week. A team with uniforms too tight for some (please see reference in #17 Aldergrove below).

11. Wickham F.C. (VMSL. Last week's rank: 12). Up one after holding last week's #3 Westside to a 0-0 draw on Friday eve. A team with uniforms too loose (Coleman) for some. Away to SU this week.

12. Portuguese Club of Vancouver. (VMSL. Last week's rank: 11). Drop one spot, did not play on the weekend. A team with uniforms that fit "just right." Home to Metro Ford next, that should be a good game.

13. Nordic F. C. (NSCL. Last week's rank: 16). In a very NSCL-ish scheduling anomaly, this side played this week, and were also idle. They thrashed from time-to-time SMEPR visitors Vikings 4-1 on Thursday eve, but were idle on the weekend. A team with uniforms that, well, are kind of tacky, and hairstyles?...Give me strength. Class of the North Shore thus far this season. Malones next.

14. Richmond United. (VMSL. Last week's rank: 15). Were idle on the weekend, but up one for wearing dark, slimming colours in the over 35s. Host West Van next.

15. Mission SC Blues. (FVSL. Last week's rank: 13) . Although idle this week, drop three due to some decent results from other sides in this area of the rankings. Sir M has never seen this side, but as a trained investigator, he is guessing that maybe they wear blue. Home to Sapperton Old Boys next.

16. Cliff Avenue United. (VMSL. Last week's rank: 14). Another idle team in this area drops (reason: see directly above). Unfortunately did not get to play this last weekend over at Connaught Park. Home to the Magpie-clad just like Juve except chubbier Lobbans next.

17. Aldergrove Utd. (FVSL. Last week's rank: 18). Their game was cancelled this weekend, Sir M has only seen them once this year against PAU, and he doesn't recall much other than at least their shirts weren't as tight as the team from south Surrey that day (picture PAU's "Paddy" in Lotto blue spandex  ). DMU next.

18. Delta Metro United. (FVSL. Last week's rank: 19). Also idle this last weekend, from what I recall last year, they sport a nice conservative firefighter, cop, Canadian National Hall of Fame goaltender blue over black and white kit. Wearable on any occasion, really. Home to Aldergrove next.

19. SFU Alumni. (VMSL. Last week's rank: 17). This side is struggling of late, in a big way, lost to VFF on Friday. But staff still think they have potential, and no comments about their kit, they have enough problems it seems. Away to Inter next. Hang in there boys.

20. Norvan F.C. (NSCL. Last week's rank: 20). Were also idle on the weekend. OK, it has to be said: the S****horpe (Now listen, that is part of the name of mediocre English professional soccer team not a slang reference to a certain portion of the female anatomy there overly protective Nazi TTP censors) yellow with the blue trim are, well, atrocious. Unless of course you are Freddie Ljungberg. And BTW red long sleeved tee shirts are NEVER appropriate unless there is red somewhere, anywhere, in your uniform. One other suggestion: when you look down and can't see your shoes...untuck your shirt.

Hopefully next week, more games, or at least each team's players will be wearing matching socks.

I do enjoy a tailored look (as noted, the Tottenham look doesn't work for everyone), unfortunately, the manager likes to keep his hands on the uniforms at all times and feels that it is only appropriate to order XXL's to make sure they fit everyone (so really, I am blaming the current look on Bruce here...)

But here's hoping that a long layoff plus a few good Christmas dinners and parties over the next month help to fill those loose shirts well enough that we can move up the rankings an extra spot or two and back into the top 10! (Since management is too cheap to offer bribes, looking good may be our only chance.)

Back to kit... I am sure that MF will confirm that the worst kit ever pulled on was a shockingly horrible bright orange polyester alternate that Lynn Valley forced over our heads for an occasional summer appearance... on the other side, in the late 70's, West Van Bears had a beautiful Claret and sky blue kit that was the envy of the VMSL.

Biggs, please tell Dariosh he is a "Nukie boy" then have him trim off your mini mullet. You look much faster with that old Jofa Helmut hair style you had before. Atleast Sir m didn't comment on your summer league boots :)

Send a job application to the bear cubs - Carson and Ted will have something to say about this.

Welcome Gnome:)

Doesn't one bearcub live in a hotel above Seymours with his parents, wears "vote for tookie" tee shirts and is a pathological text messager? And doesn't the other wear Argyle sweaters (actually under some circumstances not that bad of a fashion choice now that I think of it, its not like we are talking spilly talker sweater and rib rider drinking shorts), Bubba Gump Shrimp ball caps and Canada Post (or Firefighter with one shoulder flash ripped off) pilfered uniform shirts?

Those bear cubs?

Their wives have taste though.
