The ScoreHD Sunday EPL game is in fact HD... good stuff!

Bell has had the ScoreHD for ages... with the HD 8am match. In fact, last year, it was the only HD soccer you get could on the telly.

Outstanding. Such a different 'experience' watching an EPL game in true HD. It's too bad two shite teams like Wigan & City christened the channel for all Shaw users ;)

It makes going back to watching games on Setanta rather unfulfilling :(

Just noticed last night some time, they moved TSN to channel 23 right beside Sportsnet's 22.
KVOS is now channel 30.

Here's the Shaw website note:

Trading places: TSN and KVOS
If you love sports, you’ll love this. On February 9, 2010, TSN will be moving permanently from channel 30 to channel 23, making it viewable to all Shaw TV customers regardless of the level of service. At the same time, KVOS Bellingham will make a permanent switch from channel 23 to channel 30. Check Channels In My Area for an updated full channel lineup.

Does anyone still watch non-HD sports?

For the Olympics channel 230 (are somewhere close up there) is available - OMNI HD as they are carrying some Olympics.

Was thinking the same thing ....... with the way prices are on TV's nowadays, why would you not have an HD television w/ box ??

I have trouble watching anything non-HD to be honest .....

I do when we're watching the TV in the bedroom.
The wife doesn't always want to watch the same program as me and i'm not stupid enough to fight her for the HD box. :)

Its just the standard cable box. We aren't wealthy enough to have HD on every TV in the house.

CNN HD & Oasis HD were added to Shaw's lineup today.

In other news, there is a new Motorola STB out now for Shaw that in the near future could be used for networking (i.e., Optik TV functionality)... I think the new box is going for $250 right now? Good time to be looking for an upgrade I think at that price...

Update:

The box for $250 is "PVR ready" meaning it doesn't have PVR but can with the 'expander' which costs $200... still cheaper than how much I paid 4 years ago with WAY more space (to fill up with twice as many Curious George episodes )

Switched to Telus Optik Tv two weeks ago and Highly recommend it.

I know it's not available to all neighborhoods, but love it!

The hardware is free (rented) with Telus, so I never have to buy equipment that goes obsolete every year or two at $500+ per unit.

Erm, you can rent with Shaw as well... Apples to Apples if you want to do comparisons.

Rumour has it that Shaw has been laying the groundwork for fibre-to-the-home. Telus/Optik will be fcuked.

The renting with Shaw costs though, the rentals with Telus/Optik is free, at least I have two HD terminals in my place on HD TV's that are free for my three year term. I have more channels, including more in HD, for cheaper than what I was paying for Shaw.

Personally the quality of the service is the same, the aesthetics of the menus etc are better with Telus, but I'm sure that is something shaw can overtake at any time.

Personally I had a tough time with Shaw, but I'm sure the day for Telus to display customer service jack-assery of the highest order won't be too far into my future also ;)
