We started league play today against Seaquam and came out in the wrong end of a 1 - 0 score. We started poorly as Seaquam were being very physical (not dirty) and our new players to the team had a hard time adjusting to that style of play. They scored on a 'blooper' about 10 minutes into the game. Slowly, we started to become more aggressive and started matching them in that department. We created two good chances in the first half but with no luck.....

The second half was certainly an improvement as we managed to pin Seaquam in their end for periods and they were looking to counter-attack, which they did very well. Again, their keeper made a couple of fantastic saves and one of girls whiffed on a pass INSIDE THE SIX which would have tied it with about 5 minutes to go. Overall, considering it was our first game and that 10 of our players were on holidays for two weeks during Spring Break, we can take come positives from the game. Our grade 9 girl was the best player on the field for us today playing as a defender, which isn't her normal position.....Our grade 12 National player had a rough game today as she seemed to be a little behind in getting to the ball but our general lack of cohesion probably hurt her too......We have 3 practices now before our next game which should benefit us before going to a tough tournament in Sardis, where we might get to play Seaquam again, which I would like.

Quite a bit to report since the first game. We have been slowly getting better, which I hoped would happen from playing more games. We had a 9 day break from our first league game thanks to a bye and postponement, so we were able to fit 3 practices in. Two of the practices were just intra-squad games, which we desperately needed.

We played our second league game this past Thursday before heading to the Sardis tournament. We played a Sullivan Heights team which only had 10 players, which was disappointing. We ended up beating them 6 - 0 (it was only 1 - 0 at half-time). After the 5th goal, one of their players went down, so they had nine and we took a player off to play 10 against 9. We moved our National player to sweeper for this game and it certainly helped settle things.......

In the Sardis tournament, we decided to play a stinker in the first game. We lost 1 - 0 on a 40 yard free-kick which blooped over our keeper's head, as she was a little far off her line.......We were shite and they were shite. Overall, it was a shite game. We had a little chat after the game about 'things' and we encouraged a couple of the girls to lead a 'team meeting'........whatever was said worked....

We came out against a much better team, Johnston Heights and completely dominated from the start. Our passing was crisp, our movement was creative, and we were getting chances left, right, and center. We scored after about 15 minutes and continued to dominate. They had two very good players but our grade 9 defender was able to shut the striker down and our grade 10 midfielder controlled the center midfielder. Unfortunately, it was only 1 - 0 at the end of the half. The second half was again controlled by us but with two minutes to go in the game(we missed several more good chances), they took a corner and one of our defenders handled the ball. She tried heading the ball but her hands were up and the ball went from her head to her hand. Penalty. They scored and it ended 1 - 1. We lost the penalty shootout.....Still, we were all positive with the way we played although a couple of girls were upset(penalty missers/hand ball culprit) :)

We then played Thomas Haney, who has disposed of all the Double 'A' teams they have played so far ( 29 for and 2 against in 5 games) and beat them 2 - 1 in a very physical game. It was a battle which we deserved to win as they scored their goal on a botched free-kick by our keeper.

We played these 3 games without our National player as she was given a call by the Whitecaps to play in Victoria Friday night. But, we had her for Saturday's games.....

On Saturday, we beat St. Ann's(I think) who earlier had tied Argyle, 3 - 0, and then pumped St. John Brebouf 6 - 0. Overall, a very successful finish to a great weekend for the Devils. We all had a great time and it definitely helped our play...

Today, we played Tamanawis, who defeated North Delta and lost tight games to Seaquam 2 - 0 and Semiamhoo 1 - 0. I thought we would be in for a real dog fight from the beginning as they are pretty athletic. However, after the first 10 minutes when both teams were playing ping-pong, we took over the game and kept going. We went up 3 - 0 by the half and started even stronger in the 2nd half scoring two goals in the first 10 minutes. At this point, with 30 minutes to go, we rested our 5 top players and the score ended up 6 - 0. It was an EMPHATIC :D win for the Devils but we have to play the number one team in the league, Studsup's Earl Marriott on Thursday. That will give us a good indication if we are improving enough at this rate. Time will tell I supposed, but this win was very important as it is going to be very difficult to even come in the top 4 in league play this year as Elgin Park is a very strong team along with Semi, EM, Seaquam. North Delta is better this year too so they will be no pushover either.

South Delta 2 Earl Marriott 0

We pretty well controlled things throughout as it looked like Earl Marriott just wasn't ready to play at the start. We threw everything at them in the first half and ended up 2 - 0 to the good. The referee was ****ing HORRIBLE.........He should not be allowed to ref every again. End of.

We were never really in danger of giving up much as we defended very well as a team. Earl Marriott pushed more forward in the second half but never threatened our goal.......They are a tough athletic team who will always be difficult to break down. Good game, Studsup.

South Delta 7 Delta 0

A cautious start by both teams but we scored about 15 minutes into the game on some neat play in our midfield......We then pumped 3 more in before the half.........Lots of changes at half-time and we managed another 3. Delta played right until the end but they were outmatched on the day. We haven't given up a goal in 5 games now, which is encouraging. We've managed to score 22 during that time too with many different players scoring. Our scoring leader over the last 3 years has only scored one goal during this time.........but that is because she has been playing sweeper. :D The girls now go to South Kamloops for a tournament, one which we have come second two years in a row, losing on penalty kicks both years to the host team, South Kamloops. Hopefully we can go one better this year.

5 - 0 at the half......we went up 7 - 0 before restricting shots on net to only after every player has touched the ball on the field......we managed one chance from it. :) They scored while our players were trying to get everyone the ball.....unfortunately from 20 yards out. :D Their midfielder picked up a loose ball and cracked a beauty into the top corner....

We play Semiamhoo on Thursday with first place on the line......if we win we move into at least a tie for first.

On the weekend, we were in Kamloops and finished 4 wins and 1 loss.....poor first game(first half actually) and very good the remainder of the games........

To date in 16 games.........we have managed 58 goals and given up 8.......hopefully we can save a few for Thursday and the upcoming Fraser Valley Championships......

We love you Devils we do, we love you Devils we do, we love you Devils we do, Ooooooooohhhhhhhhh Devils we love you.

South Delta 3 Semiamhoo 0

Two words......HUMP-ING.......Actually we were only up 1 - 0 at the half but they didn't get a sniff the whole game. We played their style of game with long balls in the first half and scored 10 minutes before the half by breaking their 'offside trap'.....

The second half was completely different as we had a good chat and the girls played a lot of fantastic football......scoring 2 goals in the first 10 minutes........

Semi might be out now IF Tamanawis beat Elgin Park.......We play Elgin on Tuesday and we're looking to at least grab a share of first place with the win.....

Hail Hail the Devils are here......what the **** do we care now................:D

How about them Seascum girls, eh?

Yes, how about them? :)

South Delta 6 Abbotsford 0

We dominated from the start and were 4 - 0 up after 30 minutes. We now play Centennial on Thursday, which will most likely be the toughest team we will have played this year. They haven't lost yet so it is going to be tough to get by them but you never know........

A pumping at Holly Park today. The girls played really well and now have to go to play Centennial AGAIN tomorrow. Unfortunately, this time, we will not have a full team tomorrow but that's okay as we will be coming no worse than number 4 out of the Valley.

I wish we could play at home for the provincials. :D In 7 games, we have scored 39 goals and given up 3. You've gotta love that Holly Park turf. :)

SD 6 Tamanawis 0

SD 7 North Delta 1

SD 6 Abbotsford 0

SD 3 Rick Hansen 1

Yes we were blue and white and yes we were robbed. It's a shame that the format only allows one team out of group play when quite often two teams are equally deserving.
