Is Poker a Sport?....ESPN is Covering the Main Event this weekend? (2 Canadians at the final table)

November is Poker Month In Vancouver with the BC Poker Championships @ RiverRock.
Anyone Checking out the BCs.
Im playing....Hopeing to make the money. Anyone Else.?

My suggestion if you cant afford the $2700 entre fee (who can now a days)
Is to play the day before Wednesday Nov 24th Super Satellite for $270.
The day before SS has the feeling of the main event anyways because your playing in the main room with all the pros because they are sponsored to be there. Also the SS is the only time when the TV cameras are allowed to Interview the Pros while they play.
Its not the Main Event but it sure feels like it. AND if you can place in the top 10% you win your $2700 fee paid for you to the Next days BCs main event.

Win Win Day. (I always play the day before SS) Because of the Cameras and Loose play of the pros..It makes for the most fun Poker with some crazy table banter.

My suggestion to any Poker Player who wants that poker rush or fix they need from watching the same pros on TV all year. You know...where you say to yourself..."I could do that".....Well its the best $270 you will ever spend. (if your a POKER NUT)
It to me is like paying $270 to play in a Barclays Premier League Game on any team.

POKER is so Popular in Vancouver right now that every Casino has at least 1 Tournament a day. Most have 2 and even 3.
POKER is so popular that the Casinos cant hold poker tournaments Saturday nights anymore because of the shortage of tables/dealers and the fact that the Casinos make more money from the rakes off of the cash games that they have all dropped their Saturday Night Tournaments :(
So there was this huge hole....No POKER tournaments on the ever popular Saturday Nights..only cash games.
As you know cash games and tournaments...even though they are both POKER, are still very different.
Tournaments (my Fav) require a 1 time entre fee (yes some have rebuys) and you battle it out for a chance to win the prize money and bragging rights and Trophys at the end of the tournament through a Knockout process. Similar to any Soccer tournament you have all played anywhere.
The CASH games (still fun) are really about winning cash..players buy in at the tables minimum/maximum depending on the table and battle to take each others cash...real hard earned paychecks dont tell the wife...
A little scary for me because someones $500 may be alot of money to you but its not to others so the calls made on the sizable pots all depend on really each playes own value of the amount of money played.
Meaning a Billionare will call your life saveings with crap cards and may hit on the river....or not ..lol...But thats POKER and the RUSH that goes with it.
I personally stay away from cash games because I always end up playing against some rich Asian Guy who cleans me out...After playing so well for 12 hours and building up 2/3 morgage payments they call on a draw and hit you back to the poor house. just like that..Grrr.
Tournaments on the other hand ,You know how much your in for up front..just your entre fee...Yes the bigger the fee the bigger the prize pool.
But thats all your going to lose if your haveing a bad day...So in advance you can deside weather you can afford to lose that and is it worth the amount of money for the amount of entertainment you will get out of it.
Like desideing to play soccer over hockey here in Canada because of the costs involved.....Soccer being cheaper lol.
Tournaments ,Every Player no matter how wealthy are all equal when the tournament starts. So decisions made by every player are made from how many chips they have infront of them at that particular time...NOT buy how much money is in thier Bank or Wallet. When or if they lose they are knocked out..Being Rich is no advantage to a player who would normally chase a card on a draw or go fishing (same thing). If they play like that, most times they wont last. So tournaments in My opinion are much better poker.
Everyone is EQUAL. You lose your chips and you are out...

To fill the void of No POKER tournaments anywhere in the Lower Mainland on Saturday Nights, a group of players have got together to start a real big fun Freeroll Saturday Night Poker Club tournament.
Check this out because its Free and you win real CASH.
AND because its free its attracting alot of female players infact 2 weeks ago the final table had 8 of the 10 being female.
A perfect place to learn the game with no cost out of your pocket.
How it works is..And its quit genius if I do say so my self..
At 7pm when the tournament starts, all players are given 5000 free chips to play with. (actually alot of chips compaired to most tournaments starting at 2000).
Between 7pm and 9pm 2 hours if you are knocked out of the tournament you are allowed to rebuy back in for $20 and yes get another 5000 chips.
2 hours of $20 /5000 chip rebuys.
to build the prize pool pot.
You are under no obligation to rebuy back in and may leave when knocked out.
At 9pm when the Rebuys are over there is a $10 Addon of 2500 chips.
Yes again the Addon is Optional. you do not have to add on.
$10/2500
Building the prizepool Pot again.
Totally up to you...OPTIONAL.
You can bet that at least half(actually 80%) have either rebuyed or Addoned.
with an average of 50 players every week and sometimes 80 and yes sometimes 20
the Prize Pots can get pretty large...with no cost at all unless you want to.

What a perfect way to learn and have some POKER fun...EVERY SATURDAY 7pm.

Oh and they have now added the coolest (optional) new Bounty.
When registering for the tournament you can, if you so choose to, buy a $10 BOUNTY chip.
If you have the $10 bounty chip in front of you..any player who you knock out of the tournament who also has the optional $10 bounty chip ,you collect thier chip and cash it in for an extra $10 bucks. If someone takes you out and they do not have a bounty chip ,you simpley return your chip for refund.
You have to have a bounty chip to collect a bounty chip. Around 90% of the players have bounty chips.
But again you do not have to buy one. You are totally under no obligation to spend any money at all.
And yes people who have spent nothing have walked away winning first place and Ive seen it up to $500 bucks...NOT BAD EH!

If you love Poker or want to learn...This Freeroll Saturday Night Poker Club is the way to go and I suggest you check it out.

Its held at the Grandfathered Licenced Card Club the ATHENS CLUB on Broadway @ Manitoba ..114 W Broadway. It kinda looks like KGBs place from the Movie ROUNDERS.
645pm every Saturday to register.
I totally recommend it.

And is POKER a sport....

It is to me. ;)

Poker is cool, I enjoy it and it's obviously tough etc... but ffs it's not a sport, I don't even consider golf a sport, and that actually requires a bit of physical exertion..
