supposedly fvotl may get 7 births in the provincials.
That would include either langley or olys. We're scheduled to play langley on sunday . Although, I don't know why . because langley and olys have played the same amount of games.

As for the challenge cup, I will have to go early to watch the game,as I think the fireman will match up nicely against them. My prediction is S.U.-2, Fireman-0 because I think SU will ware them down being they are a little younger.

SU REpeat

Brian "the Spine" Cuthbert toebashed in the golden goal shortly into the 1st overtime period to clinch the cup 2-1 vs. SC Firemen. Mike Marini opened the scoring with about 20 ticks left on the clock before halftime and the Firemen equalized with a penal 15-20 min into the 2nd half.
It was a pretty physical contest - the match ups of the day had to be Howes vs. Bailey and Wyatt vs. Shuey. Wyatt pretty much kept Shuey in his pocket for most of the game and Bailey was definitely the toughest match up for Muz so far this year...( all of a sudden Shuey is an offensive threat when he moves from premier to over 30's;) )
Su outchanced and outmissed the opposition...again...but managed to put it away on a scrambly goal. On to the BC's!
:D

After playing all the teams in our league this year I would be inclined to rank the teams as such ( according to our matches anyways)
1. SU
2. Firemen...toughest battle but they don't score much
3. Peace Arch...hit and miss;)
4. Delta Metro..they did well with 12 men in the cup semi-final
5. sundowners/Olys...have some good players but didn't show much this year against us
6. Mission ( wee...a lot of girth and some pace) / Langley (girth yes- pace no:rolleyes: )

Another enjoyable season...good luck to the valley teams in the BC's:cool: ...draw on tues.

Aves, it kills me to say this but I actually agree with your ranking list. ;)

Surrey City Firefighters are extremely tenacious as we should expect from a firemen team. Luckily for us, we have six firemen on our team who share the same mentality. I think the Surrey City Firefighters are going O'35 so we could possibly see a Firefighter's vs Firefighter's battle after all. Although they call themselves Surrey City Firefighters, they are all Vancouver Firefighters.

It was a more competitive league this year with some tough battles. I can't help but think about so many squandered chances as we have had this year. We will have to finish around the net better if we are to do anything in the BC's. Someone always steps up to the plate when the regular scorers are having a tough day around the net.

Another Cup. Feels good.

Good luck to all the teams in the BC's.

:)

Great Game today

I gota agree with yeah Aves . It was an exciting game to watch today! Yet the Ref was shite! Where the hell do they keep getting these refs from? They sure gave you guys a run for your money but you lads ended up coming up with a great win. What better of a day to watch a great game. Beers, sun ,playing in the seven aside and more beers. OHHHHH BEEEERRRRRSSSS! Congrats on your win !

to the final!

Westside 3-0 Columbus

A great victory for the boys in the League Cup semi's. Paul Parsley with 2 (Atterton assisted on both) and a pk by the other Catliff, Geoff. Our keeper Marcello played very well and the ref was the best we've seen this year. We finally beat them when it counted. On to the finals against Paddlewheeler, a first division team who we know nothing about.

It turns out that both the Firemen and Columbus went O-35 this year. We're awaiting our draw in the O-30 tourney. I'm looking forward to see how everyone stacks up this year with the North Shore guys back in it again and what sounded like a little tighter race in the Valley.

Ballbaby, maybe we'll get the rubber match this year...hopefully not too early in the playdowns.

Congratulations to SU for winning yet another Cup. You guys must be getting sick of just plain not losing in years????

I can't say I disagree with Aves and his rating of teams.

Aves is this a ranking over the whole year or just the last few months?

Goodluck in the Provincials all you old bastards...

btw: PA is entering the Over 30 Cup......

Toes,
This year was more of a struggle than last year for sure...quite a few games we had only 13 guys,etc...we're not used to working that hard over 90 minutes because we've always had the luxury of a deep and plentiful bench.
(hughesy cannot be omitted...)

But if we don't score early then the battle is on...we've had to come from behind a number of times in the last month...probably good for us in the long run (cup.) In answer to your questions...I can only recall the 2nd half really and winning doesn't suck:rolleyes:
You still have 2 kicks at it this year!(bc's and nations cup)

There's lots of good teams out there that could beat us on any given day...we just seem to be rolling along:cool:

Can someone post the draw?

Sorry, for being MIA for so long! Ballbaby congrats on another great year, good luck in the provincials. Will be interesting with North Shore back in the hunt. Good test first round. I noticed Nor Van were 17-2 with a tonne of goals for and very few against. Either they're a great side or NSCL is a little weak? I have no idea.

Peter, great result over Columbus last week, now you have Paddlewheelers or maybe alreadt had! We lost to them in the 1'st round and outshot 25-2 & lost 2-1. Doesn't say much for the once and mighty CELTIC. Good luck on the Island this weekend. We played Gorge FC last year and have a young lad up front who can score, watch him and you'll do well!

We drew Peg and looking forward to playing. Still missing a bunch of guys but have been playing ok.

After a dozen specialist appointments and 3 surgeons, I'm going in soon. Ended up tearing my Posterior Cruciate and both inside & outside miniscus (cart) and hope to be back by the end of next season. I've been in net the last 2 games and have enjoyed, although a little slow off the line.

All the best this weekend,

Craigo

Aves,

You guys are on top of the league for good reason. Each year teams gun for you guys including PA. It seems even when your down on bodies, you fellows at SU play and keep winning. Something has to be said for that, cause I know it not always as easy as it seems or the record shows. Congratulations to all the SU players on a great another great season and league Cup win.:D

You are also right, in that, I always seem to finish second best to SU or Scotland in the Nation's Cup. My time will come, if my body holds up, and you can not say it's for lack of trying.

As for the Provincials; well we got our first game this Sunday vs SFC.

I was hoping to play a team from Vancouver or NSCL first but thems the breaks. We have had good fortune against SFC and it will be a good game. I look forward to the game and hope to be on the winning end of things....

Good luck to all the Over 30 (legends) this year in both Provincial Cups!!!!!

Hey Craigo, it's nice to see you are actually still playing with your knee in such bad shape. Good luck with your surgery.

You never know what can happen in the BC's. The North Shore teams remain a bit of a mystery, but I am certain they will be tough. Why shouldn't they be? They were tough in Open so they'll be tough in O'30's. Their waist size will be a little larger and there will be many full bottles of shampoo in the changeroom. Hell, you may even find an occasional viagra tablet fall out of someones bag. But they are essentially the same guys. Ya think? :D

Just received our league cup today...thanks to Glenn Ferraro for managing/coaching, Hughesy and Reedy for the beer fund, Howes for the gym, Farquhar for...behind the scenes work, and our families for their support.
...I'm practicing my academy award speech:p
Now if we only had Spiny's meatpies again all would be good:cool:

Well done surrey Lads

Oldies but goodies! I still can't get over Ian Farkers play. He still can play.

As for the poster, " Graigo" tough surgery mate! I had the same one torn meniscos and posterior cruciate. I had two surgeries both with Dr Loomer, great surgeon. Aves had both his reconstuctions by him aswell.

My last surgery was a reconstrution in dec the Christmas before last. I spent two and a half months in a staight legged cast, and took a full year off. Bottom line is you can play again, I am playing now and it feels pretty good. If you want to chat give me a personal message. Good luck and keep your chin up.

Oh sure Cainy.

If you want to chat give me a personal message. Good luck and keep your chin up.

Craigo, don't trust Cainy. When he says "keep your chin up" it's for hygienic reasons.
"If you want to chat"
He tried that one on me and then I had to fight him off my leg that he was apparently trying to hump. His "posterior" ligament was at full attention then. :D

Watch out for him Craigo. Beware of blotchy pink purple Irishmen. ;)
